Healthcare Information Management Systems (abbreviated as HIMS) are imperative to the success of any healthcare system. HIMS incorporates the necessary data that is needed by policy makers, clinicians, and health service users to improve and protect and provide aide for the health of the general population. There has been an increasingly demanding need for detailed, organized, and readily-available health information, including contracts, patient data, and repositories of information. Healthcare organizations must pay close attention and detail to the database structures, data management, and cater each owns individual requirements. For example, the Finance department will most likely not use the same information system as the Clinical departments. Each department has their own goals and initiatives that need to be produced with a designated HIM. These unique requirements are often “met with unilateral systems that are either shared or stand-alone systems” (1). Normally healthcare organizations have to cater to two different types of management: clinical and financial. HIMS must always be integrated and have the ability to speak to each other, but also have the capability to operate individually (2). Common components of any HIMS includes: Scheduling, Registration, Insurance Eligibility Verification, Referral Service Authorization Tracking, Procedure or Order Entry, Medical Record Information Management, Billing, Payment Posting, Collections, Accounts Receivable Management, Management Reporting, Finance, Compliance, and Technical Support (3). There are also different components of use for each HIM, including front end user capability, and back end users. Database design can be quite intricate, and over the past decades, database architecture had advanced enormously, as well as…...

...Hardware and Software The United States Army uses share folders within their network so that multiple personnel can gain access to forms or regulations. The U.S. military has a contract with Dell Computers to supply the Army with computer systems that all have the same amount of memory and processing speed. The computers all need to be equipped with software that will allow soldiers to use their common access cards, or CACs, to securely log on to military programs such as Army Knowledge Online. Workgroup The software that is offered on most military computer systems is the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, which is the only system that is compatible with the common access card software at this time. The main computer in use in the military is the Dell laptop, which is portable and lightweight. The Dell laptop offers the fastest CPU (central processing unit) at the time of manufacturing and around four gigs of memory. The computer is also equipped with three to four USB (universal serial bus) ports for devices such as an additional common access card reader or a wireless mouse. The computers are all networked together for faster file sharing options and provide the ability to save files and regulations to a share folder. The information technology specialists for each battalion regulate how the computers are used by blocking sites from the network. The military computers also record a log of each common access card that is used to log into the systems, which allows...

...The Technology of HIMS: Hardware, Software, Peripherals and Processes Health Information Management includes the essential information with the intention of is its policy producer, clinicians, and health service clients to improve and care for and provide aide for the health of the common population. There has been a progressively more severe need for comprehensive, structured, and convenient health information, including contracts, patient and repositories of information. The computer hardware production is quickly rising. This can be classified into many extensive classes such as input, output processing, and storage. Hardware also can include disk drives, integrated circuits, display screens, cables, modems, speakers, and printers. The healthcare information system compromises the computer hardware and software and the telecommunications technologies that it uses to store and transmit information. Health Information Management are now used in carrying out almost all functions within a hospital  such as scheduling staff, patient appointments, electronic prescriptions, decision support, electronic medical records and Insurance billing information. Hardware and Software

...Hardware Hardware is the physical components that make up the electronic devices for example keyboards, mice, monitors etc. One main difference between hardware and software is that hardware can be touched and software cannot. RAM RAM is an acronym for Random Access Memory. It is a type of memory that is most commonly found in computers and other devices such as printers. There are two types of RAM. Dynamic RAM and static RAM. The two types of RAM differ in the technology they use to hold data, with DRAM being the more common type. In terms of speed, SRAM is faster. DRAM needs to be refreshed thousands of times per second while SRAM does not need to be refreshed, which is what makes it faster than DRAM. Flash cards A flash card is a small data storage device that uses a flash memory chip to store data. Flash cards can be quite small in size, with a capacity of a few gigabytes of storage. The memory in these cards is non-volatile, so it does not require a power source to remain intact. Graphics tablet A graphics tablet is a piece of a hardware that is a computer input device. It allows you to make hand drawn images similar to that of a pencil and paper. It consists of a touch screen tablet and a stylus to draw. Monitor A monitor is like a small version of a TV. It displays the user interface and open programs, allowing the user to interact with the computer. Older computer monitors used Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) which made them large and heavy. Modern monitors are...

...company’s computer systems are software and hardware. Depending on the type of company, their software and hardware may be high-end, or low-end. In regards to my company, I usually use high-end software and hardware. Running an online retail store requires the use of many programs at once. Although running an online store might not seem like much work, it requires a great deal of attention. Using high-end hardware and software places my company at an advantage. According to Technology Guide 1: Computer Hardware, the author states, “In many industries, exploiting computer hardware is a key to achieving competitive advantage” (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011, Technology Guide 1: Computer Hardware). Business System Specifications In regard to my company’s personal computing software and hardware, we use several devices that run off different applications. One of the hardware devices we use is a phone system called MagicJack. “Magicjack is a device about the size of your thumb which plugs into a USB drive in your computer” (Block, 2010, para. How does the magic work?). This hardware device requires a software application to be installed on our computers that enable a phone to be connected to receive phone-calls. Whenever a customer calls our toll-free number, a dial-pad appears on our screens with the caller’s I.D. displayed. We can either pick up the phone or click ignore on the screen if we are busy. The phone-call is then routed to our voicemail. The software for this device......

...Hardware and Software Paper CIS 205 Hardware and software play a very important role in business today and if combined together they can support personal, workgroup, and enterprise computing. In my organization we use Windows based computers for each workstation in each respective location. With the appropriate hardware networking the computers together, we are able to communicate through our network. In this case, we are a small business so we followed the steps necessary to map drives together in the various locations. The hardware needed for our network is a modem, router, Ethernet cables, external hard drives, and power supplies. The software we use to run our network is Windows. When used together this hardware and software help us operate our organization efficiently by easily sending and receiving information. We are able to navigate to any computer’s information in our company through this network. As a design, printing, and embroidery company, we use many online applications to help support and organize our information. The majority of our incoming business comes from the internet. I use an online application called Oss designer to download customer art, organize customers data, and obtain the necessary information from a customer to get the job done. We also use the Oss software to obtain payments for our services. In order to track customers we use an invoice and customer tracking program called Quickbooks. This software enables us to easily create......
