Week 3 Assignement 2

...Week 3: Assignment 2 Nicholas Anderson Professor Noah Horwitz PHI-210 Our ability to communicate is based around language. Every word we speak or write has a meaning and that meaning is interpreted by those we communicate with. Some words and phrases are more direct than others. Some have multiple meanings and some have meanings that are purely figurative as opposed to literal. When communicating with each other it is important to understand how those words are phrases may be interpreted and how it is received. To get a better idea of what figurative language is and how to use it, we will discuss 10 examples. Idiom: An idiom is a phrase or saying that has multiple meanings; a literal and a figurative. We use idioms everyday without consideration for their literal meanings because the figurative definition has become standard in out lexicon. An example of an idiom would be the saying someone "kicked the bucket". Most of us understand the meaning of this saying to be that someone has passed away or died. However, there is a literal meaning as well that some physically kicked a bucket. When this phrase is used it is understood to mean someone died, but the combination of words themselves taken at face value would mean that someone swung their foot and connected with a bucket. Analogy: An analogy is defined as a similarity between the like features of two things on which a comparison may be made. Analogies are a big part of our language in how we attempt......

...220. The appellate court affirmed these profit awards. The court noted that Lam was able to manufacture more tools that it had orders for. There was further testimony that the sales to Dallas and the subsequent sales of the reworked tools to other customers were entirely independent of each other. In other words, even if Dallas had not breached, Lam could have and would have manufactured and sold the tools to its other customers. Ch28Q#1 Requirements of negotiability. The instrument contains no unconditional promise or order to pay a sum certain in money, it is not payable at a definite time or on demand, and it is not payable to order or bearer. The credit application and Pelican's and Harold's rights are not determined under Article 3 of the UCC, but rather are determined by contract law and principles of surety ship. Ch28Q#12 Type of instrument and negotiability. The instrument is a promissory note. The reference to the purchase of stock shares does not affect negotiability. There is a sum certain and the note is payable at a definite date. However, there is one problem. It is a promissory note and there are no words of negotiability. The note reads “Pay to.” Only a check can use those words on the front of the instrument and still be negotiable. The note needs to read “Pay to the order of” or “Pay to bearer.” References: Anderson’s Business Law and the Legal Environment; Twomey & Jennings...

Week 3 Discussion 1 & 2

...Week 3 Discussion 1 From the e-Activity, develop a regression equation using the data you collected from your research. Use the regression equation to focus the demand for the product you chose for the next three periods. Assess what the results of the regression equation tells managers and how it is likely to impact decisions made related to maximizing profitability. I decided to take a brief look into Buffalo Wild Wings Chain future expansion near college campuses. The restaurant chain's management wants to determine the best locations in which to expand their restaurant business. So far the most successful locations have been near college campuses. This opinion is based on the positive numbers that quarterly sales (y) reflect and the size of the student population (x). Management's mindset is that over all, the restaurants that are within close proximity to college campuses with large student bodies generate more sales than restaurants located near campuses with small student bodies. Imagine you are a manager for the good or service used above. From the results of the regression equation, suggest strategies to either maintain demand (if an increase over three periods occurs) or improve demand (if a decrease over three periods occurs). Provide support for your recommendations. The regression analysis of the demand patron assures that managers are able to forecast the future sales. For profitability perspective, the demand for the future should show an increasing......

Week 3 Assignment 2

...Week 3 Assignment 2 Personality & Attitudes 1. What did you think of the profile assessment? How did you feel while taking it? I took it imagining I was a job candidate I felt nervous about it as do all job candidates. I also felt confident as I would have been shocked if I somehow “failed” the personality profile or assessment. One misconception we see in the general public is the use of the word “test” when they refer to profile assessments. A test you can pass or fail or fall somewhere in between, but what profile assessments measures are behavioral styles. You are a measure of the behaviors you use and adapt to. The only way to fail a profile assessment is to lie on it. There is a tremendous amount of value that can be learned about you from these tools. Chances are your assessor wants to use profile assessments to see how you would fit with different team members, whether you’d be happy doing the type of work required, or how they may work best with you. You can only fail an assessment designed to pick up on your behavior styles if you tell it you behave in ways you don’t typically behave. 2. Would you use this or another profile to hire/promote within your organization? If so, why and how? If not, why not? Profile assessments were developed during World War II, when there was a desperate need to find people capable of certain types of leadership. Companies then began adopting this process for recruitment. Their popularity increased, and now there's...

...This pack contains IT 210 Week 8 Assignment Object Oriented Design Computer Science - Object-Oriented Programming Assignment 2: Chocolate Delights Candy Company, Part 2  Due Week 10 and worth 210 points  The Chocolate Delights Candy Company needs to add the following functionality to its cash register: When a customer is checking out, the cash register needs to store the required data pertaining to each item the customer is buying. This data includes the item name, the price per pound, and the number of pounds of that item being purchased. This should be stored in three (3) arrays (one (1) for the item name, one (1) for the price per pound, and one (1) for the number of pounds being purchased) with corresponding index values. For example, index value 3, when applied to the “itemName” array, would give as the name of the third item that the customer is buying. That same index value of 3, when applied to the “ pricePerPound” array, would give us the price per pound of that same third item that the customer is buying. When that last item in the purchase has been saved to the array, an itemized receipt is printed which shows the relevant data (name, price, and amount purchased) of each item, the subtotal price for each item (which is calculated as price per pound times the number of pounds), and the grand total purchase amount of all items. Use Visual Logic to create the data flow diagrams needed in order to develop the design documents for an interactive......
