...The first thing that most new users shifting from Windows find confusing is navigating the Linux file system. The Linux file system functions differently than the Windows file system. I will compare and contrast the differences of both and takes you through the layout input/output systems of both. In Linux, there is only a single hierarchal directory structure. Everything begins from the root directory which is represented by the symbol /, which then expands into sub-directories. Windows includes various partitions and then directories under those partitions; Linux places all the partitions underneath the root directory by mounting them in specific directories. In contrast, Windows uses the letter C as its root directory. In Windows, various partitions are detected during the boot process and are assigned a drive letter. Under Linux, the system must mount partitions and devices during the boot process; otherwise it will be unaware of its existence. This might not seem very convenient to provide access to your partitions or devices, but it offers greater flexibility. This is known as the unified file system in Linux which offers several advantages over the Windows file system. For example, let's examine the /usr directory. This directory resides off the root directory and contains most of the system executables. With the Linux file system, you can choose to mount it off another partition or even off another machine over a network connection. The underlying system......

The Core

...Hot on the heels of "Far from Heaven," which looked exactly like a 1957 melodrama, here is "The Core," which wants to be a 1957 science fiction movie. Its special effects are a little too good for that (not a lot), but the plot is out of something by Roger Corman, and you can't improve on dialogue like this: "The Earth's core has stopped spinning!" "How could that happen?" Yes, the Earth's core has stopped spinning, and in less than a year the Earth will lose its electromagnetic shield and we'll all be toast--fried by solar microwaves. To make that concept clear to a panel of U.S. military men, Professor Josh Keyes (Aaron Eckhart) of the University of Chicago borrows a can of room freshener, sets the propellant alight with his Bic, and incinerates a peach. To watch Keyes and the generals contemplate that burnt peach is to witness a scene that cries out from its very vitals to be cut from the movie and made into ukulele picks. Such goofiness amuses me. I have such an unreasonable affection for this movie, indeed, that it is only by slapping myself alongside the head and drinking black coffee that I can restrain myself from recommending it. It is only a notch down from "Congo," "Anaconda," "Lara Croft, Tomb Raider" and other films which those with too little taste think they have too much taste to enjoy. To be sure, "The Core" starts out in an unsettling manner, with the crash-landing of the space shuttle. Considering that "Phone Booth," scheduled for release in......

...workarounds that reduce efficiency and increase risk. It is recognized that the current infrastructure does not provide an adequate platform for future market development, and that without reform, the development of the markets will be held back. Five areas of weakness are recognized, namely: • Duplication of clearing and settlement infrastructure at DSE and CSE; • Lack of DVP for indirect market participants; • The need for participants to provide cash and securities 2 days ahead of settlement date; • The payment of cash dividends from issuers to end investors, rather than flowing through the depository, causing delay, uncertainty and inefficiency; and • Lack of 'straight through processing' (STP), leading to manual rekeying of orders and file trans‐mission, and increasing operational risk. 2.3. Types of the financial market in Bangladesh The financial market in Bangladesh is mainly of following types: * 2.3.1. Money Market The primary money market is comprised of banks, FIs and primary dealers as intermediaries and savings & lending instruments, treasury bills as instruments. There are currently 15 primary dealers (12 banks and 3 FIs) in Bangladesh. The only active secondary market is overnight call money market which is participated by the scheduled banks and FIs. The money market in Bangladesh is regulated by Bangladesh Bank (BB), the Central Bank of Bangladesh. * 2.3.2. Capital Market The primary segment of capital market is operated through......

The Core

...The Core Reaction Paper The Core is a 2003 science-fiction film wherein the world is about to encounter its impending doom because the Earth’s outer core is stalling. It is revealed by a geophysicist that if the liquid outer core stops rotating then the Earth’s electromagnetic field will collapse, making the Earth vulnerable to disintegration. The only way they can save the Earth was to somehow restart the activity in the outer core. To do so, a group of scientists and astronauts were formed. Together, they build a ship equipped with high powered lasers and capable of extreme heat. Using the ship, the team must navigate its way to the outer core and release series of nuclear explosions. After a couple of mishaps and losing a few scientists, their mission was a success and the Earth is brought back to normal. Watching a science fiction film was always tricky. For a viewer to enjoy a sci-fi film the narrative must at least be able to explain the scientific concepts in a simple, crystal clear manner – The Core’s script did perfectly well. Also, I recently acquired further knowledge about the Earth’s interior so I found myself having no difficulty understanding and acknowledging the geological facts in the story. Despite basic geological facts the film was also bombarded with a couple more of scientific concepts, which I must admit is hard to fully accept given that I have no appropriate or sufficient knowledge about such. But the film was entertaining enough to overlook such...

...on the Core The Core is a film that is about the sudden stop of the Earth’s core that causes many sudden happenings like the birds suddenly start flying in all directions like they were blind and were going mad but because of that the geophysicists agree to drill down to the core and restart the rotation before all humans in the world would die. The scenarios are likely the scenarios in end of the world movies but in this movie the thing that make it the end of the world is the cores rotating that is stopped due to the government. As the geophysicists go down the Earth’s core using a laser that causes the ground to have an opening which they went through using a vehicle that could withstand the heat in the core. The special effect were truly amazing and like it is truly happening and as they went down the core and since I don’t know the real picture of core in this movie it gave me an idea of what the core really is. The sounds are good and the actor’s performance was good also. The wild behavior of the birds in London is caused because birds rely on the Earth’s magnetic poles to guide them in migration and in flight. Because of the core, the magnetic poles of the Earth is distorted or has disappeared making thousands of birds flying all-around without following any directions. And so, suddenly each one of them starts crashing towards statues, buildings, vehicles and other else. The ending wasn’t that exciting because it is like that they just bomb the core and......

A flock of pigeons fly out of control and terrorize people in London. The space shuttle Endeavour loses its navigational guidance during re-entry and crash lands. Dr. Josh Keyes puts the puzzle pieces together and realizes that they all involve the Earth's electromagnetic field. He further realizes the cause of it - the Earth's core has stopped spinning. What this means is that the sun's radiation could cook the Earth's surface in less than a year. The American government secretly plans to solve the problem by re-starting the Earth's core rotating using strategically place nuclear bombs under the surface. A top-secret team is put together to go on the mission. Dr. Edward Brazleton, a mad scientist, will develop a ship capable of reaching the core. ...place because of the earth's inner magnetic core. That core has suddenly stopped flowing. How and why is not important, but how to get it going again--otherwise more and more natural phenomena will increasingly cause more disasters "top side." Josh Keyes assembles a select group of scientists and engineers to build and pilot a special machine built to withstand extreme temperatures and pressures to journey to the earth's core and set off a nuclear detonation to start the rotation of the earth's core once again. Will the plan work? All the actors do a fine job of delineating the differences among their characters, which causes a fair amount of fun friction between them. Stanley Tucci, as the pompous Dr. Zimsky is particularly funny, but Aaron Eckhart as the heroic leader Dr. Keyes gets in some funny lines of his own. Credit for all this must go to the excellent script by Cooper Layne and John Rogers, as well as the edge-of-your-seat direction by Jon Amiel, who hasn't been entirely successful to date. Of course, the movie's superb special effects and editing by Terry Rawlings (ALIEN, BLADE RUNNER and CHARIOTS OF FIRE) are an added bonus. THE CORE does, however, contain plenty of light foul language and a couple strong profanities. There is also one scene with a crucially placed "f" word, which sometimes happens in a movie rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America. Aside from the foul language problem, THE CORE has no sex scenes, no gory scenes, and the......

...MOVIE SUMMARY The Core directed by John Amiel Geologist Dr. Josh Keyes (Aaron Eckhart) and scientists Serge Leveque (Tchéky Karyo) and Conrad Zimsky (Stanley Tucci) become aware of an instability of Earth's magnetic field after a series of incidents across the globe. They determine that the Earth's molten core, which generates this field, has stopped rotating, and within a year the field will collapse exposing the planet's surface directly to devastating solar radiation. Backed by the U.S. Government, Keyes, Leveque, and Zimsky create a plan to bore down to the core and set off several nuclear explosions to restart the rotation. They gain help of rogue scientist Ed "Braz" Brazzelton (Delroy Lindo) who has devised a vessel made of "Unobtanium" that can withstand the heat and pressure within the Earth's crust and convert it to energy, as well as a laser-driven boring system that will allow them to quickly pass through the crust. Construction starts immediately on the Virgil, a multi-compartment vessel to be helmed bySpace Shuttle pilots Commander Robert Iverson (Bruce Greenwood) and Major Rebecca "Beck" Childs (Hilary Swank) who will join Keyes and the others. To prevent a worldwide panic, Keyes enlists computer hacker Theodore Donald "Rat" Finch (DJ Qualls) to scour the Internet and eliminate all traces of the pending disaster or their plan. Virgil is launched through the Marianas Trench from an offshore platform. The team accidentally drills through a gigantic......

...Core Competency: Evidenced-Based Practic C 08/13 Evidenced-Based Practice is ”the practice of nursing in which the nurse makes clinical decisions on the basis of the best available current research evidence, his or her own clinical expertise, and the needs and preferences of the patient.” (Mosby, 2009, p. 677). Utilizing Evidenced Based Practice is a way to give the best, most effective care to patients. This paper will discuss methods and results of a study and how the results were obtained. Next, I will discuss possible barriers to EBP, and ways to overcome these barriers; and finally, facilitators to EBP. The study that was used was “Clinical Nurse Specialists’ Approaches in Selecting and Using Evidence to Improve Practice.” The purpose of this study was to determine the method that CNS use to incorporate evidence in everyday practice. The method was a telephone survey with a 75% response rate. journals, internet, and online research data bases rather than their peers and experiences. The study also pointed out downfalls or barriers to EBP including financial resources and resistant organizational culture (Profetto-McGrath, Negrin, Hugo & Smith, 2010, p. 38). Although Evidenced-Based Practice is beneficial for improved patient care and outcomes, there are some barriers to using this source. First there is inadequate research that is up to date with some of the more complicated problems, studies that are not complete or hard to read and understand, and......
