Exercise 6.1
There are many different goals I would like to complete. My first goal is to work for a state program called CareStar. Then I want to build a program called Next Step for teens in my local community. My last goal is to advocate for the Scleroderma Foundation regularly.
The steps that must be taken to achieve my goals will take years. In order for me to work at CareStar I must be a licensed social worker. So my steps will be to complete the Bachelors program at the University of Phoenix, transfer to Wright State University’s master’s degree program, complete internships, take state test and apply for a position. When building my program for Next Step different kinds of steps will have to be taken. First my plan is to research information on becoming non-profit. Following will be copy righting my name, calculating all expenses, writing for government and private grants, hiring employees and building community partnerships.
Well my last goal is the hardest because I don’t have very much free time. My plan to dedicate more time to the Scleroderma Foundation will first consist of me opening time in my schedule by becoming more organized. Then I plan to create a virtual interaction site for chapter members. This will allow me to be an advocate using the internet. Last I will attend conferences, meetings and walks.
Exercise 6.2 Assisting Freydia will depend on completion of requirements she must meet. Because Freydia is still addicted to crack cocaine the big objective is to become drug free. The component objective consists of intense counseling while attending a drug rehabilitation program. After completing the program Freydia can then focus on getting her children back. This could consist of attending NA meetings regularly, find stable housing, employment, complete parenting classes, meet court requirements and build a childcare plan. Only after…...

...A Journal Entry: Trail of Tears A Journal Entry: Trail of Tears Summer 1838 It has just been announced that to us that there are some among us that have signed a treaty selling away our lands from out from under us with President Jackson. I do not understand why our own people would do such a thing. We have been told that if we do not leave, General Scott will come and force us off our lands. (Schultz, 2012) My husband says that it is only because gold was discovered here that the white man is pushing us away. Though he does not wish, my husband says we must go before the general gets here. Fall 1838 We did not leave when my husband wanted us to go. My sister came to visit us and begged me to come back home and stay with her. She said that even my husband could come, but when we arrived at her large home, my father was there, and he told us that we could not enter and that he only had one daughter. I wanted to cry. My husband, bowed to my father slightly and we left, but before we got too far away, my sister called me back. She was crying as she gave me an old family heirloom that was supposed to have come to me on the day I turned 21. She begged me to leave my husband and those of the Cherokee people and come home to our family, but what she did not understand was that these people had become my people. I could never leave my husband as she wished of me. I loved him far too much. We stayed on in the home land of the Cherokee. But then......

...A. Journal Entries When the first time I entered L’Cokelat Day Spa, the employees greeted me politely with a big smile. Even though the place is not so big, but I felt a good environment there. The place is simply decorated, but the simplicity makes me comfortable in there plus the hospitality of the employees which makes me happy coming to L’Cokelat Day Spa. It was 12.30 pm, so there was no other customer there associated with the lunch time and the weekdays. Besides, I smelled a good flavor of chocolate which makes my body and mind relaxed since I entered. No need to wait for a long time, the receptionist directly showed me the menu of the variety of services. But, I disappointed with the menu, because the menu did not look good and well designed, it was just a printed menu on a white paper covered with a thick cover. Fortunately, the receptionist was able to explain about the services. She offered me lot of varieties completely. They have local and imported products. Since it was my first time, I could not decide which service suited my needs well. Luckily, the receptionist asked my need and took initiative to ask me to try the sample of the product which enabled me to smell and try on the product on my skin. I felt so happy and satisfied with the sample, because directly after tested it, I could choose which the best product and service is for me. In that visit, I chose “Tropical Salt Mousse Papine” in order to satisfied my need to get the complete package of spa with......

Journal Entry

...October 1846 Dear Journal, Today is another day that we have gone without our potato crops growing. I do not understand what is going on. We have a huge farm land in the outskirts of Dublin and we are doing everything right but the crops will not grow or they will grow and will then wither which at that point, we are unable to eat them. My family is starving and we are loosing weight at a rapid rate. I do not know how much longer I am going to be able to deal with this. I have taken the time out every night to make sure that I pray but it seems as though my wishes have not been answered. I have been speaking with some of the other farmers in the area and we all agree that maybe it would be time to pick up and leave the area and we were all thinking about going to the United States. My hopes, by leaving, is that I will be able to make a better life for my family and I will be able to feed my family without relying on my crops, that obviously do not want to grow. November 5, 1846 I spoke with my fellow farmers and we have all agreed that this is now the time that we must move on and immigrate to the United States. I heard that there will be a ship that will leave in a few days and I must get my family on the ship. I know that this will be the best for all of us in order to survive because these potato crops are just not growing like they use to. I need to inform my family to pack what we have, but make sure that it is only the essentials because I do not want to be......

Journal Entry for Chapter 5

...Journal Entry 11.Chapter 5: The teacher and his teachings, Pages: 108-109. Monday 24, 2014 A New Kind of Teacher Socrates a different kind of teacher, he was not paid to be a teacher and his teaching method was different. He believed that people could not think clearly if they are not clear on what they are analyzing or talking about. Therefore, in his teaching sessions he would ask questions and answer them the best he could. So I wondered, how different would the education system be if we had follow Socrates way of teaching? Socrates is one of the most important people in western philosophy. I found it interesting that we have no writings from his own hand, from his two students Plato and Xenophon. I agreed with Socrates claim that appearance of the body is less important than how it functions and true beauty comes from spirit and character. I questioned if spirit and character is more important than the physical appearance, why do modern society judge an individual based on their physical appearance? Journal Entry 12. Chapter 6: the Theory of forms. Pages 144. Thursday, February 20, 2014. Knowledge Vs. Opinion Plato is one of the philosophers that interest me the most because of his search for knowledge outside his “comfort zone.” Plato left the Athens and wandered for twelve years and during that time he studied mathematics and mysticism. For me, as a math minor, it was interesting to see how mathematics influenced Plato’s philosophy and I wondered, does an......

...Journal Entry HIS/110 The Spanish migration to North America was an interesting topic in this week that piqued my interest. Learning more about this topic in the second chapter of US History through 1877 was a good starting point to keep my attention because it is something that I have been fascinated with beforehand. I used the artwork from this chapter because it is beautiful and seems to tell an excellent story of migration and the survival skills that were needed in this day in age. I researched more about the Spanish conquistador and was able to read on "Came Men on Horses: The Conquistador Expeditions of Francisco Vazquez de Coronado and Don Juan de Onate". This book speaks of any myths that may have been written or spoken of about the way the conquest of America. The Spanish was the first Europeans to enter the America Southwest. Stories about the city of Gold is what lured in a lot of people in hopes of riches. The conquistadors were fighting the decision to search for the city of gold or not. They did not want to have the burden on their shoulders of not attempting to search for it, and someone else find it if it deemed to be true. There were seven cities that were expected to contain gold for the conquistadors to search out. The conquistadors depended on navigation when it came to their needs of survival. This would be of great service to them when it comes to finding their way to their destination...

Journal Entry

...Dec 10, 1907 Dear Journal, It has been awhile since I have had the time to sit down, and write much with all that has been going on. A little over a month ago now I left my home in Greece in hopes of a better life. So many men came to our village with stories of the riches of America. I decided to make plans to come here to America myself. The idea of spending a 3 year stint in the military which was mandatory for me just did not seem right for me. Life in the old country has been really hard over the years. Mama and Papa have struggled greatly trying to farm the land which largely is just rocky in the mountain sides. I wanted to help them. I wanted to come here in order to make a great deal of money to take home, and purchase our family a better land with a larger home. Being only 16 I had no idea how hard this idea would become. The path here seemed to take forever. The ship I ended up on was so cramped with people. The only fare I could afford purchased me the lowest fare ticket. I spent 2 weeks within the belly of this ship. The narrow packed beds barely gave me a decent sleep. There was so much sickness around me. The smell of throw up seemed to constantly linger in the air. There was little to no food at times on the boat for us in the lower class. I tried to spend as much time as I could on the upper deck, however, the often storms made this impossible much of the time. I was thankful I had remembered to bring my worry beads. Twirling them around my......

...Tajae Gibbs Liane Tanguay English Composition 14 May 2015 Journal Entries Journal Entry #1: Should we rule society through strict displanarian order or let people organize themselves? I believe it should be through strict displanarian order. Why? Well in my opinion we need order. We need to be told what is supposed to be done and how. Another reason is because the society right now is not in order. If we was to let people organize themselves… well it would be a mess. People would be doing the complete opposite because they feel that they do not need the order. Without displanarian order this world would not be the same. I believe right now the rate for students going to college is high. If there was not displanarian order then probably a lot of kids would have dropped out of school or not even gone to school at all. I felt maybe this was my best work because I got to give my opinion on what I think about displanarian order. I got to talk about what could happen and what might not happen if displanarian order was not a choice. I had thought a lot about the question when it was given in class. Journal Entry #2: Write about the time when you felt uncomfortable Well I did not really know what to write but I did write my experience about when I went to Hawaii. I did not feel as comfortable when I was in Hawaii because all over I was seeing people who did not really speech English. I do not know what they were but I did not know that people who live in Hawaii talk different. I......

...of the students give their predictions. I will really intrigued to see how well the students responded to the book. They all seemed to love it. I worry that the book was too easy, though. When picking a book, Mrs. Sinatro helped me find a book that was on the student’s reading levels. The only issue is that I think Mrs. Sinatro underestimated the ability of her students. The children in my group were basically begging me to allow them to read more chapters then assigned. I am happy that they understand the book I just wish I could challenge them more. Kayla, I have a good idea for this that you might like to take to your own classroom—you can generate a blog with another class (even in a different state) where students are reading the same text. Think about ways to have students get involved discussing books with other students. At 10:30 a.m., it is time for Math. First, Mrs. Sinatro has the students read a “Time for Kids” article titled Should Fractions be Subtracted? After reading the article aloud, Mrs. Sinatro has her students do a writing prompt about whether they agree with the two columnists with disagreeing points. The students have to choose a side and argue it in their writing prompts. I saw this article and found it most interesting. Next, the students are given a word problem about a restaurant. The students are asked to pick meals for three students, with a certain amount of money, and slightly differing meals. The students work together in class and then work......

...Journal Entry Jennifer Augustus ETH/125 July 17, 2011 April Dreeke Journal Entry It's been three days of rain now, with no end in sight. Sometimes I wonder if this whole island might one day be underwater from all the rain. My friend Irini says that the ocean swallows the water, and the island could never be covered. I listen, but I'm not sure even she believes everything she says. My name is Suri Songhai, and I live in Hawaii, the year is 1922. I came to Hawaii because my family enlisted a nakodo’s (go-between) on my behalf in my homeland of Korea, to find me a husband to take care of me. Many Korean men have been leaving our poor area outside of Okinawa to find more lucrative work. There have been quite a few who leave with the intent of working in Hawaii and building a beautiful home and having a family. There were many stories at the time of how well Korean mother's sons were doing in Hawaii, many pictures of homes, properties, beautiful beaches, gardens and animals. Additionally, a monthly check is sent from the sons to support their families back home in Korea. Many hundreds of young men have left Korea to work in the sugar cane fields in Hawaii. Families never know of the hardship their son's suffer, as the son's would never say; it would do no good to have their families worried or afraid for them. So they put on a happy face for all of the pictures, and sent as much money as they can without starving. Mothers of daughters saw these things and wanted their......

...To My Future Children, I am writing this journal for you so that you will always know our heritage and where you ancestors came from. We may be United States citizens but our culture and homeland is elsewhere. Somewhere I am hoping you will one day visit. Here is a little bit of history about our dear homeland. The island of Puerto Rico (formerly Porto Rico) is the most easterly of the Greater Antilles group of the West Indies island chain. Located more than a thousand miles southeast of Miami, Puerto Rico is bounded on the north by the Atlantic Ocean, on the east by the Virgin Passage (which separates it from the Virgin Islands), on the south by the Caribbean Sea, and on the west by the Mona Passage (which separates it from the Dominican Republic). Puerto Rico is 35 miles wide (from north to south), 95 miles long (from east to west) and has 311 miles of coastline. Its land mass measures 3,423 square miles, about two-thirds the area of the state of Connecticut. (Green). Puerto Rico was discovered by Christopher Columbus on Novemeber 19th, 1493. The name Puerto Rico, meaning "rich port," was given to the island by its Spanish conquistadors (or conquerors); according to tradition, the name comes from Ponce de León himself, who upon first seeing the port of San Juan is said to have exclaimed, "¡Ay que puerto rico!" ("What a rich port!"). (Green). Puerto Rico is unique in that it is an autonomous Commonwealth of the United States, and its people think of the island......
