The report was done by our group Khoo Zhong Xian and Ow Jun Han. We split task to do the job and allocate our time accordingly to ensure that we hand in on time. The Content inside is all self-written and if any abstract text will be mention on which website link to prevent copy write issue.

1.0 Introduction

We were given a task to come out with presentation for our project on E-delivery application at the end of week 15.So my team planned on developing a application E-Delivery.

Being widely used, SMS is a viable way to provide service at little or no charges. Users could send a short message to the service provider for the service. This makes SMS application quite attractive to those who have a mobile phone and as we know the numbers of mobile phones subscribers in Singapore are approximately 7.02 million with an average of 1.4 handsets per person.

Information such as pricings, timings and procedures can be very valuable and important. Information such as these can provide trust and loyalty if it is easily access and reliable.

While information can be easily accessed on the internet nowadays, one method to get information is to go to the location where the information is provided. This is inconvenient for many, as said location may not be near and can take hours and to reach it. Another method is to call the call centre to ask for the information. This may not be the best method for users as the call center may be very busy during peak hours.

An example is the MacDonald’s outlets. Although there are many outlets in Singapore, it is still tiresome to walk to the nearby outlets to enquire for information or purchase food. MacDonald has a call center to provide 24/7 delivery but as we know it is frustrating to wait on queue call during peak hours as the number of service provider might not be enough. However, the cell phone, a necessity for everyone nowadays. E-Delivery can provide the information through SMS. Even without access to the internet or the call center, user can now place their order and get the information through SMS by sending in an inquiry to the service provider.

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of the E-delivery application is to ensure user friendliness and bring convenience to all customers by manually placing orders from their mobile phones at any required time.

1.2 Scope

The scope of this report will cover: 1. Flow Chart of E-Delivery (user and server) 2. Source codes of E-Delivery Application (Simple Start-Off) 3. User interface of E-Delivery (User-Friendly)

1.3 Project Timeline

This structure allows us to see where we have progress and we have split it into timeline for time management and task allocation within the teammates.

2.0 Flowchart
2.1 Server Side Flowchart

The Server side flow chart consists of how the server operates throughout the whole process of the running program. When the program was first initialized, server have to first clear the entire existing messages inside the database to avoid reading the old messages and at the same time clearing the memory in the modem. After the program is initialized, the system is ready to be used.

The program will keep polling until the first message is received from the modem. Upon receiving the message, the program will first check whether the message is “READ” or “UNREAD” by reading from the modem. The program will return to polling and wait for new messages if the message is “READ” or there are no messages. The program will proceed if the message is “UNREAD”. This is to ensure that the message is new which need attention.

After deciding if the message is “READ” or “UNREAD” and the message is “UNREAD”, the program will then proceed to check the format of the message. If the format is incorrect,
The server will reply the user “Wrong Format”. If the message has a correct format, the program will proceed to store the message in a temporary variable. After the message is stored, the program will retrieve the information (order and particular) of the sender into a database.

The program will then send a message to the user stating the receipt of the order ,reference number and the approximate arrival time in the format “HH:MM AM/PM ”. The program will have a delay of five minutes now, this is a grace period allowing the user to cancel their order. After waiting for five minutes, the program will check if there is any reply from the user. If there is reply, the program will check whether the reply time was within the grace period which is five minutes, if it is, the program will reply the user that order is cancelled.
If there is no reply from the user the program send a message telling user “Order has been successfully placed and the food will arrived within the stated time”.

2.2 User Side Flow Chart

This is the user side flow chart which consists of what the user can do with the program. Initially, the user will have to send in an exact format “ORDER <FOOD> <MEAL(YES/NO)> <ADDRESS>” to make an order to the server. If the format received by the server is correct, the server will reply a SMS which consist of “Receipt (Include Ref Number) + Arrived Time”.

The program will continue polling for 5 minutes as a grace period for the user to decide whether to cancel the order placed. If the user decided to make a cancellation, he/she is require to send a Message in an exact format “CANCEL <Ref Number>”. After the user have send the message, the server will check the time receive with the time registered in the database. If the different in time is more than 5 minutes the system will reply an message ““Sorry you have past the 5minutes, No Cancellation is allowed”.

Order Cancel Button is only enabled after the Confirmation is pressed. This will cancel the order from the database but have to be press within 5 minutes after the confirmation.

Display the total cost of the order received per SMS.
The Sender’s address will be shown here.
The Sender’s phone number will be shown here.
The SMS receive will be store in a variable. Only the order and the pricing will be display here.

The first sugar was recorded in England in 1099. The subsequent centuries saw a major expansion of western European trade with the East, including the importation of sugar. It is recorded, for instance, that sugar was available in London at "two shillings a pound" in 1319 AD. This equates to about US$100 per kilo at today's prices so it was very much a luxury. In the 15th century AD, European sugar was refined in Venice, confirmation that even then when quantities were small, it was difficult to transport sugar as a food grade product....
