Introduction
Organisations do not evolve by chance, nor are they structured randomly. Over the years, organisations evolve and increase in complexity. The knowledge accumulated and shared has been collectively termed as organisation theory (Crowther and Green 2004). Organisation theory is an area of study whereby organisations serve as the phenomenon of interest for theorisation and explanation. In actual fact, it involves many theories that do not always fit together thus multiple perspectives have to be used to analyse the complexities in organisation. The four perspectives are modernism, symbolic-interpretivism, postmodernism and critical theory. Each perspective provides different manner of interpreting the world which results in different knowledge acquired (Hatch & Cunliffe 2006).
Globalisation has enable organisations to enter new markets and reduce business cost. These organisations are known as transnationals because their routine activities have crossed borders. They are able to exert control through ownership and/or through operations (eds. Alvesson, Bridgman & Willmott 2009).
In this essay, I will be using modernist and critical theory perspective and related theories to analyse how Apple as a capitalist, exercise power and over its organisation network and external environment.
The first section of the essay includes the meta-theoretical frame work of the two perspectives. It also includes how the two different perspectives view power in the organisation and the environment.
The second section will be my analysis of Apple using control theories and the resource dependency theory to analyse how Apple has the power over Apple’s own employees, Foxconn and the workers.

Section 1: Theoretical Framework
To make comparison between modernism and critical theory, it is essential to know the assumptions of these perspective using…...

...Color Psychology Paper Research Question: How does color affect one’s mood? Review of Literature: Colors may just seem simple and unimportant, but they affect our daily lives more than we may know. If someone is feeling angry, it could just be because they’re angry, or it could be perhaps that they are surrounded by or looking at the color red. That’s right! People’s moods can change just because they are looking at different colors! There are many theories on how just a simple color can change one’s whole mood. According to Johnson (2007), color does affect mood by producing certain chemicals and stimulating different feelings such as hunger. For example, blue can make one feel calm because it releases calming chemicals, and red can make one hungry because it is an appetite stimulant. Yellow can make one feel irritated, and it is a fact that people lose their temper most in yellow rooms. However, pink is tranquilizing and can make one feel weak. In conclusion, Johnson says that depending on the color, one’s body can do things (like producing chemicals) that cause a certain emotional reaction (mad, sad, etc.). Another idea, by Smith (2007), is that the effect color produces is based on what one’s body does in response. For example, yellow is mentally stimulating, and activates memory, whereas red increases confidence. Also, brown can make a person feel orderly and stable, while a dark blue can make one feel sad. Therefore, Smith says that different colors do in fact......

Term Paper: Students’ Self-Service Website for Mobile Devices

...Term Paper: Students’ Self-Service Website for Mobile Devices 6/17/2013 Professor: Kiran Chittargi CIS375 Mobility is on the rise in this current era and it is important to provide access to products for consumers as conveniently as possible. The use of smartphones with high speed data capabilities made it easier to view regular desktop websites without much hassle, but the issue occurs with rendering a website built for a PC on a much smaller screen of a mobile device. Another major issue is that, although the mobile devices are much powerful than they were, they still have compatibility issues with PC websites. For example, Apple’s iOS devices lack flash compatibilities, which is an integral part of many desktop websites today. This lack of compatibility calls for a new and much simpler implementation of an existing desktop website for accessing through a mobile device without much clutter. Building a website specifically for a mobile device allows users to access the website even when they are away from a computer and have an important task at hand. The target audience for such a website is the general people who use it on a daily basis which comprises mostly of students and instructors. Accessing the website through a mobile device comfortably will help the users a great deal. Most students who access the website are fulltime working students and lead a completely busy life, and their need would be able to access the website on their time without much hassle.......

...1. Marketing myopia is a short-sighted and inward looking approach to marketing that focuses on the needs of the company instead of defining the company and its products in terms of the customers’ needs and wants. It should be avoided as it results in the failure to see and adjust to the rapid changes in their markets. A good case study for this is Blockbuster, Redbox and Netflix. Blockbuster was on their high horse and did not pay attention to the change Redbox and Netflix sparked. As a result the two simultaneously capitalized on Blockbuster’s market share. This was Blockbuster’s fault because they did not want to adjust to the rapid change. 2. Perceived customer value is marketing and branding related concept that points out that success of a product is largely based on whether customers believe it can satisfy their needs. This emphasizes that when a company develops its brand and markets its products, customers ultimately determine how to interpret and react to marketing messages. Companies spend significant time researching the market to get a sense of how customers think and feel. 3. Market segmentation involves grouping your various customers into segments that have common needs or will respond similarly to a marketing action. Each segment will respond to a different marketing mix strategy, with each offering alternate growth and profit opportunities. After segmenting the market based on the different groups and classes, you will need to...

Research Paper on the Assessment of Students Academic Performance..

... Rationale The purpose of this study is to examine relationships between nutrition and how it affects student success in school. Nutrition from food is critical for both physical and mental function and growth. National guidelines exist which regulate what constitutes adequate nutrition to support the body, and these guidelines have been at least partially integrated into most school curriculums, as well as food and wellness policies. Although adequate nutrition is vital for the body and mind to function, it is less attainable by some students due to a variety of factors, such as socioeconomic status, cultural barriers, and specific preferences. Many of the academic and behavioral obstacles that students face in the classroom are fueled by inadequate nutrition and lack of understanding about what nutrition is and its importance. There are many actions that can be taken in attempts to ameliorate the issues of nutrition illiteracy and misunderstandings. Wood cited Kretsch et al. (2001), amongst the plethora of possible solutions, perhaps they should look first at the nutritional substance of what our school-aged learners are eating each day as they struggle through a day of learning. The main objective of this study is to explore the relationship of academic performance in school age learners with the effects of the nutritional value of food intake as well as students study habit.
