SNHUConsulting Hardware Recommendations for Widget Wonders Roy Whited IT-201-Q1084 Professor Saylor Module 3 Case Study October 9, 2015 Widget Wonders is a worldwide leader in widgets and are currently building a state-of-the-art facility to manufacture and distribute the next generation of widgets. This new facility will be the main manufacturing and distribution center in the United States and will contain the following five departments: sales, manufacturing, inventory control, research and development, and Management Information Systems (MIS). SNHUConsulting, a leader in information technology, has been retained to implement information technology on the expansion and to connect the network in the new facility to the main network that is located at their headquarters. I have been asked to make recommendations on the computer hardware components for the expansion. Widget Wonders has provided the following information to SNHUConsulting pertaining to the individual departmental needs within the company structure. SNHUConsulting has determined the following recommendations would best suit Widget Wonders needs at this time and looking forward toward the requested three year window of usage. The sales department consists of 50 employees which require mobility to access company resources while visiting customers and presenting at sales meetings and conferences. My recommendation for this department would be laptop computers along with smartphones as they would work best for mobility when visiting with customers as they are small and lightweight computers that can easily be carried around, along with docking stations to charge the devices while they are in the office at their work stations. I would recommend the Dell XPS 13 laptop for the sales department as it is the perfect balance of size, power, and an excellent battery…...

...are brains need to process these decisions we make. I think it is very important to use your brain and think before a decision is made. Most people just speak or act without thinking of the consequences, and this is when making decisions can be hard. Even living at college, balancing 2 nanny jobs, and school allows me to make decisions whether I like them or not. An experience that I have used decision making in is when I nanny and how I got my nanny jobs. There were many decisions I had to make. I had to make sure the family was flexible with time (seeing I’m in school), was the right fit for me, and I was the right fit for them. Pay was also a hard decision I had to make. I have been a nanny for the 3 years I have been at school here at SNHU and I enjoy it thoroughly but I am constantly making decisions when it comes to babysitting. The Rational Model proposes that managers use a rational, four-step sequence when making decisions. You need to “1. I identify the problem, 2. Generate alternative solutions, 3. Select a solution, and 4. Implement and evaluate the solution you chose.” This rational model describes the way I chose my nannying jobs and how I picked the best ones that fit me. I identified the problem, which was having no money while at school. I then generated solutions such as getting a nanny job or waitressing. I then put out applications for both waitressing and to be a nanny and waited to see what my best options were and what offered me the best......

Information Requirements Analysis

...Short Answer/Essay Questions Information Requirements Analysis 4/20/2014 SNHU Eddie Bailey A good questionnaire is one that enables collection of precise data in a well-timed manner. It facilitates the work of data gathering, data processing and the tabulation of data. It ensures that there is no collection of unneeded information. It permits complete and important analysis as well as purposeful utilization of the data composed. Random Sampling Advantages: Since it is done at chance, the whole process is evenhanded. This is good to use in less significant populations, of course it doesn't 100% protect from bias (depending on the question). But this option is a faster way of achieving information. Disadvantages: As I said before, depending on your question it cannot put a stop to bias. Also, if you are sampling information from a big population this will take too much time and patience. There is also no assurance that what these people say, represents what another group of people think. Non-Random Sampling Advantages: This is more precise because you are targeting a particular group, therefore your answers will be parallel to what the rest of the population (of this group) will answer. Disadvantages: This is more predisposed, because the individuals chosen are not at random. They also may not represent what another population thinks. According to Clark (2012) states that " Lead by Example; all facilitators must present an example to the......

Action Plan

...There is a lot of interpretation when it comes to stress. People deal with stress in a variety of ways. Some people handle stress better than others. Through the experiments we read about throughout the class we learned people handle stress differently and are influenced by the behaviors of others when it comes to a stressful situation. Introduction On the Holmes and Rahe self-assessment I scored a 120. This gives me a low chance of becoming ill in the future. On the Holmes and Rahe college student self-assessment, I don’t remember my exact score, but it was less than 150 which indicates mild stress. Nothing really stood out to me the most when I took these assessments. I completed these same assessments in the last course I completed at SNHU. My results did not surprise me. What I found most interesting is that the items that gave me the most points were things that I did not see as stressful events. To me Christmas and vacation are fun and relaxing events. I never really stress about either of those events. I do see where some people might find them stressful though. I seem to have a good handle on things, my life has been calm lately and I don’t have much stress to deal with. For the most part I don’t have a lot of stress in my life. There are days at work that are stressful, mainly due to the weather, but other than that things are going well. For example, if I have 5 yards to mow on Tuesday and we get a torrential rainstorm Monday night, then those yards will have......

Children’s Literature and Cognitive Development

...children’s literature can provide support to that can encourage cognitive development in children. At the sensorimotor stage of development, children begin to understand how things work using their five senses and motor activity (SNHU, 2014). Children’s books that offer tactile illustrations and interactive activities are essential to developing the cognitive skills of children. Because children in this stage of development have an increased interest in play, books that require participation and touch tend to be appealing to them and help to develop their cognitive skills. At the preoperational stage, Houghton, Mifflin, and Harcourt (2013) explain that “children increase their use of language and other symbols, their imitation of adult behaviors, and their play” (“Age 2-6 section, para. 4). At this stage, children’s books that contain rhyme, rhythm, and predictable patterns will encourage cognitive development. Children are able to take pleasure in reading because they are actively engaged and developmentally stimulated by these text features. They often enjoy the predictable patterns of these texts because it allows them to complete a pattern and helps them to believe that they are reading the text. It offers their first experience as a “reader” (SNHU, 2014). At the concrete operational stage, children can engage in classification, serial ordering and cause-and-effect relationships (Houghton, Mifflin, & Harcourt, 2013). Children at this stage enjoy......

Fed Ex Case Study

...Case Study Fed Ex Ligea Cox March 21, 2015 SNHU OL 324 Case Study Fed Ex Fed Ex is a company most of us have heard of. We see the final production side of our packages getting delivered on time or late in some cases. What we do not see is the way that Fed Ex works at incorporating TQM into their business. TQM or Total Quality Management is vital to improve and work and constant improvement in any business, especially one as large as Fed Ex. To incorporate TQM strategies into their business Fed Ex did several things. They implemented QIP (Quality Improvement Program) to accomplish their goals of 100% in the fields of on time deliveries, accurate information availability and customer satisfaction. (Foster.2013. pg. 22). Their statement on QIP included that it “encompasses all of its operations”. (Foster.2013. pg. 22). That is key, every department, every employee would be working together to accomplish these goals. Their philosophy is that quality must be part of how they always do business. (Foster.2013. pg. 22) Not just sometimes but all the time. That ties into W. Edwards Deming’s first of his 14 key principles, “create constancy of purpose.” ("HomePage | The Deming Institute") It also ties into the 5th point of improve constantly because if they are not always working on that quality goal then they are not always working on quality. ("HomePage | The Deming Institute") To create this constant improvement and goal they have instituted Quality action Teams or......

Case Study: to Market or Not to Market

...populations, hence their intentions are purely altruistic. The group of healthcare professional volunteers find that since the inception of their venture the results are supremely disappointing as “the current use of their services is only at an estimated 7% of original expectations” (SNHU, n.d., para. 3). Additionally, the no-charge rental space arrangement necessary to conduct the provider-patient physical interactions is limited to the total of three years’ time, and the arrangement is due to expire in less than two years. A new venue may need to be secured and it may not be rent-free (additional expenditures for future consideration). Both the current circumstances that leave a lot to be desired and the uncertain future appear to be increasingly discouraging in continuing this nonprofit venture. However, one of the important aspects that could have prevented the current state of affairs (had it not been overlooked and underestimated) and can improve the nonprofit’s future is an effective marketing campaign. Initially, the group of founders relied on their personal and professional networks and the traditional word-of-moth to serve as adequate marketing and promotion of the nonprofit’s services (SNHU, n.d., para. 3). In a year’s time, however, it yielded -93% of their utility projections. There may be a number of contributing factors to explain this result. The lack of a marketing/ promotion/ outreach campaign is one explanation. The nonprofit’s location......

...period, the Smart Bite owner met other families in the area looking for the same alternative and a product was born. Smart Bites formulated a business relationship with The SNHU Pet Store who has experienced tremendous growth over the last five years. They agreed to stock Smart Bites on their shelves and in their online store. Smart Bites decided to perform a SWOT analysis to investigate its strengths and weaknesses. This allowed them to formulate a marketing plan of action. Figure 1: SWOT analysis for Smart Bites Smart Bites found one of its strengths to be the all natural product which appeals to health conscience owners but also allows for a lighter option for less active dogs. A second strength is being manufactured in the U.S.A. This ensures the best governmental production guidelines over those made elsewhere. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) Smart Bites is a catchy name as is the slogan WHEN A BITE IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU. Printed on the package, FRESH FROM THE LAND AND SEA enhances the beef, chicken, fish and vegetable flavor lines. ...ANONYMOUS IT-200 Milestone Two Southern New Hampshire University Networking: Swagger Distribution’s networking illustration is showing a wired networking system for the company. As the diagram shows, the companies system is most important in the computer room. This is where most of the company’s connection begins. The internet, which is the WAN (Wide Area Network) is the beginning to the LAN (Local Area Network). This starts with the WAN coming into the computer room’s T1 Demarcation Router. The T1 Demarcation Router is then connected to the Main Router which has a connection to the Firewall as well as the Ethernet Switch. The Ethernet Switch then has a Fiber Optic cable connecting to the warehouse Remote Ethernet Switch. This allows the connectivity from the Remote Ethernet Switch to be connected to the PC’s in the shipping office. Going back to the Ethernet Switch, it is also connected to a Cross Patch Panel from which an Ethernet Drop is made allowing the data to be accessed from the offices. It is important for the company to have access to all resources throughout the company. Having these connections allows it to do so. The key aspects to the network consists of Routers, Switches, Firewall, Servers, and PC’s. Amongst these, the Routers direct the data in which direction it needs to go while the Switches are forwarding the information to the devices that it is intended to go to. The Firewall is allowing certain information to be processed through to help protect......
