Marley Catona
Recruiting Officer
Bank on Me
555 New York Avenue
New York, NY 10022

Dear Ms. Catona:

Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the Financial Management Training Program. I am excited about this position as it would be a natural next step from my previous financial experience. I see myself growing with a company into a leadership position, and Bank on Me seems like a good place to start.
My favorite class at Moraine Valley Community College was Computer Applications in Accounting. I enjoyed learning about different systems for accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, invoicing, job costing, payroll, budgeting, and reporting. Microsoft Excel was an integral part of the course. I did well in this course and, therefore, was selected by my professor to become a teaching assistant. In this role, I work with students during office hours and hold exam review sessions to explain course concepts and help with assignments in Excel. It has been rewarding to see students do well after they needed so much help.
My other favorite class was International Business, which explained how people do business differently throughout the world. I learned about cultural differences and the importance of adapting your products and marketing to diverse audiences.
This course illuminated my high school study abroad experience in Rome, Italy, which was one of the best experiences of my life. I lived with a family for three weeks and studied Italian and Business Management. Both gave me a good idea of the cultural differences between the United States and Italy, which is where my family originated.
For three years, while I was attending school, I was a property accountant for Lakewatch Apartments. I managed all…...

The Café

...The Café David sat at a small table in the corner, as he silently sipped his espresso. It was a light brown in color, almost resembling the wet earth of the night outside. The rain showered unremittingly upon the roof of the coffee shop. Despite the frequent noise of thunder that furiously sliced through the tranquil night, David sat oblivious to his surroundings. He held a small black notebook that appeared bizarrely tiny for his vast hands. He stood tall, of moderate build, and wore a thick, highly numbered, pair of glasses. His strange baby-face contrasted with his receding hairline, making it impossible to guess his age. He was well dressed in a black suit and tie, trousers, and a fine pair of polished black shoes. He was never someone who would stand out in a crowd. Even from far, one could notice that he was comfortable in his isolation, as he repetitively kept scribbling some notes into his tiny little book. He seemed to be always alone, but he was never lonely. A pretty young waitress came by, offering a refill for his coffee. Her nametag read Andrea. He nodded unsmilingly at her and got back to his book. The shop had large windows facing towards the East. The kitchen and the serving counter of the shop lined up against the opposite wall. As the tiny droplets of rain silently fell upon the thin glass of the large windows, the white lights of the café powerfully illuminated the entire room, large yet contrarily quaint. The kitchen had closed some time back...

...new cars and trucks will have to nearly double by 2025 under regulations finalized by the Obama administration. The new rules will require car companies to average 54.5 mpg across their fleets in 13 years, which stayed at 27.5 mpg for 21years before it increased slightly a year ago. Because few vehicles come close to that level of performance today, the new rule sounds overly ambitious or even impossible at the first blush. Once you dig a little deeper, the rules will make sense for various kinds of reasons. From my perspective, the corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) benefits the society. The fuel regulations should be enacted. First, the new rule will help the United States deal with the climate changes. Gasoline is one of the main parts of fossil fuel that produces carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is also part of greenhouse gases, which will influence the environment of the earth deeply. The CAFE requires vehicles to promote average gas mileage; tailpipe emissions from cars and light trucks will be halved by 2025. Second, raising the efficiency of U.S. vehicles will enhance national security. President Barack Obama said the new fuel standards "represent the single most important step" his administration has taken to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil. Despite rising domestic crude production, 40% of our nation’s oil is imported from foreign countries. The foreign oil ties America to a volatile world market, including producers that are hostile to......

The Cafe

...The Cafe It was the best day of my life, as I entered I felt overwhelmed by the surrounding sensations. The place looked phenomenal, the chairs shone brightly like diamonds in the dark gloomy sky. They were the center of everything, I was astonished by the custom made, marvelous, authenticated tables and chairs. Yes you guessed it! the Flamingo cafe is where I was located. All the talk about their freshly baked pies intrigued me and I couldn't help it, I had to go and explore this one of a kind cafe. The sensations were truly very overwhelming and astounding, as I took a sharp look I saw a brightly colored illuminating blue Flamingo statue sprouting water out of it's mouth. It gave the most calming, soothing and relaxing feeling, the sound of the water falling slowly yet swiftly drop by drop sounded like a beautiful harmony which in turn engaged my imagination. The remarkable symphony of the water dropping was like the waves of the ocean colliding against each other. It was rather crowded, people were scattered everywhere colonizing each and every area. And the sound of their chattering and giggling resembled a swarm of harmless gentle Bees humming in happiness. Thankfully I was lucky enough to find a place to sit, it was the last seat too! and from a distance I saw someone approaching to my table slowly yet gracefully. He was a tall, delightful, friendly looking young man, he had an eccentric looking yet recognizable outfit on, it was in the shape of the dazzling blue...

Beano's Cafe

...1. Based on the segmentation variables, how is Beano’s Café now segmenting and targeting the coffee market? [20%] The Egyptian market was locally driven toward oriental café, Turkish coffee and shisha and Egyptian might not be keen on coffee made from unfamiliar and new ingredients. Thus, when they want to enter the market, they have to segment the market in order giving out suitable strategy to introduce the Egyptian consumer to a new café experience. A market segment consists of a group of customers who share a similar set of needs and wants. Segmentation variables consist of geographic, demographic, psychographic and behavioral considerations. Geographic segmentation divides the market into geographical units such as nations, states, regions, counties, cities or neighborhoods. Beano’s café initially geographic segmented the market in the own country of the creator of the Beano’s Café group in Egypt.
