When looking at this image I notice that both characters represent some form of power. Jim Lee does this by giving them very upright postures to symbolize dominance and very overdeveloped muscles to really show how much power and force these two characters wield. Jim Lee uses very intense shading to define the muscles and indentations on the bodies. This is effective because it seems as though Jim Lee was trying to create the ideal human in this alternate universe. Jim Lee uses two very different characters to create a very distinct contrast within the image, such as; the dark skies, the gargoyle that they’re standing on , the costumes they’re wearing and the way they’ve positioned their hands. This image is interesting because it shows two sides of the same coin or yin and yang. This is great because both of these characters are very heroic and are always fighting in the name of justice.
When looking at this image I feel quite jealous because of how perfect the characters are. Jim Lee has done this by giving them great postures and well defined muscles but most of all I think that being on a rooftop has given them more authority. I like this work because it looks good and it portrays strength and power.

The Marshalls store I chose to observe was the one located at 7506 W. Broad Street, Merchants Walk in Richmond, VA. It is said to have begun in the mid 1600’s. The American Civil War began in 1961 when 11 states seceded from the United States. The North or the Union fought against the constitutionality of the secession and the expansion of slavery. Slavery came to an end when the North won the civil war, along with the passing of the 13 amendment. Although slavery was abolished in 1865, it did not give African Americans equal opportunity for education, employment, or basic human rights. Whites in the South during the late 1870s and early 1880s, established Jim Crow laws. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines Jim Crow as the ethnic discrimination especially against blacks by legal enforcement or traditional sanctions. However, she occasionally comes to school smelling of urine, exhausted and is socially withdrawn from most of her peers. She spends most of her free time reading books in the book corner. During my time there I would be observe a group of four students name Mike, Chris, Leslie and Tiffany. Lee had an intimate relationship with Samuel Adams and felt he could really open up to Samuel. He had highly educated conversations where he did not speak pidgin English. At one point Samuel asked why Lee spoke in this stereotypical Chinese accent and he replied, “You are one of those rare people who can separate your observation from your preconception. You see what is, where most people see what they expect” (161). Lee finds that it is easier to let others believe that he is straight from China rather than being born and raised in America. The term Jim Crow was thought to have originated around 1830 from a white minstrel show performer named Thomas Rice put black material on his face and performed a jig singing “Jump Jim Crow.” The character was created from a crippled, elderly black man singing and dancing. People say that Jim Crow owned a slave that gave inspiration for the act. The skit was incorporated into the act and then became a part of the minstrel scene in America. ...Jonathan Watters is an energetic, happy eight month old infant. His parents are very close friends of the family, so I am lucky to spend a large amount of time with him. Jonathan is very laid-back and quiet compared to his energetic older sister. Jonathan’s parents moved into a new home on Saturday, December 5th, so I took this opportunity to observe him as I was already scheduled to watch him that day. ...Jim Crow Jim Crow’s laws were enacted between 1876 and 1965. These laws were put in place to mandate racial segregation. This meant that blacks did not have the same rights and privileges to use public areas as whites did. The main idea behind the Jim Crow laws was "separate but equal". It was a legal way to continue the discrimination against the African Americans in the southern states.
