IS THIS YOU? Your Childs Health American Cancer Society Topic Taking Action Against Risks The Surgeon General’s Report states that secondhand smoke kills people who don’t smoke, and makes others sick. Children are no exception. Some problems may seem small, but they add up quickly: think of the expenses, doctor visits, medications, lost school time, and often lost work time for the parent who must stay home with a sick child. And this does not include the discomforts that the child goes through! Secondhand smoke, also known as environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), has also been shown to increase the risk of lung cancer. Exposed children are at risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), respiratory infections, ear problems, and more. It can cause premature death for both children and adults. Areas for focused assessment (30 points) Provide a brief overview of those areas of strength and weakness noted from Milestone 1: Health History. From the conversation with JAW on her medical history she is in denial about the occurrences that is happening in her life which is making her non-compliant about taking her medications as prescribed. It appears that taking her medications will make her an unfit mother in the presence of her children according to JAW. Being a hospital corpsman in the Navy she is well aware of the ramifications about taking medications especially the ones that will help her overcome these issues. B. Client’s strengths (30 points) Expand on areas identified as strengths related to the person's overall health. Support your conclusions with data from the textbook. JAW is in good shape according to military regulations. ...Summary of Teaching and Learning Interaction On Accident Prevention/Safety Promotion For the Parent of 6 month old Infant Student Name NRS-434V | The Health Assessment of Infants Instructor Name Date Summary of Teaching /Learning Interaction on Accident Prevention/Safety Promotion For the Parent of 6 month old Infant This educational opportunity focused on environmental pesticide exposure to infants. The young lady that was part of the teaching/learning experience is a 20 year old African-American, single parent that completed high school but no college experience. Her daughter is six months old and considered to be healthy in development. For the remainder of this summary, I will use the letters TB in place of the mother’s name and IB for the daughter’s name. I explained the pesticides could enter IB’s body through her skin, lungs, mouth, and her eyes. (Mott, 1997) At 6 months of age, IB’s skin is her largest organ and her skin surface is twice that of an adult per unit of body weight. TB was very adamant that her daughter was not exposed to pesticides. We reviewed the pamphlet and TB saw that IB could be directly exposed to pesticides brought into her home on clothes or exhaled from an adult’s lungs. As we continued to review the pamphlet, she was surprised to learn that some of the pesticides could come from the food that she ate and could have been passed to her daughter even......

...Health History and Physical Examination RUA Chamberlain College of Nursing November 2014 In this Assessment nursing course, one of the major things that is taught is the most important part of giving proper care to a patient. Correct patient assessment is needed before any nursing care plan or treatment can be implemented. This post-review of a person’s assessment will demonstrate the proper way to go about assessing a person’s health. Health History and Physical Examination Health History Under my care for the assessment was Felix Tshimanga, a 50-year old man who has been working in the hospital environment since his 20s. After living in New York for a little less than 10 years, he’s lived in Georgia for 10 years. The reason for his assessment is he complaints of being constantly exhausted, sporadic tight chest and occasional chest pain. The muscles in his neck are also tight, his stomach and abdomen area has gotten larger, and wears glasses for near-sightedness. Mr. Felix has been a medical doctor and college professor teaching anatomy and physiology for 25 years, and he is very educated in physical education and health. However, some cultural and psychosocial considerations include: he is an African-American, and he was born and raised in Congo, where staple food items such as cornmeal (maize or cassava) and plantains, are high in carbohydrates (Our Africa, 2014). He continues to eat traditional foods in addition to common American dishes (which are not......
