Everyone has their own flaws and imperfections, nobody is perfect. Whether it be a physical flaw or a mental flaw. Most mental flaws are caused from a traumatic experience. All characters in the book “No Time for Goodbye” by Linwood Barclay are fundamentally flawed in one way or another. Cynthia, the main character of the book, has been diagnosed with extreme anxiety. Enid, Cynthia’s father’s wife suffers from borderline personality disorder and Cynthia’s friend Vince Fleming has intermittent explosive disorder.

Cynthia Bigge is the main character of my book, at a young age of fourteen she woke up one day and her family was gone without a trace. The police never found out what had happened that night, the mystery became a cold case. Twenty five years later she received a call from a TV producer asking her if she wanted to be in a mystery TV show about her family disappearing (17). Cynthia said yes, thinking that it would reopen the case and she could find answers. After all these years of not knowing if her mother father and brother were alive or dead caused her to worry which lead to a stomach ulcer. Cynthia’s worries started when her family abandoned her, but she eventually started worrying and feeling anxious about everything and was diagnosed with severe anxiety. She worried about little things, such as if her daughter Grace was safe walking to school on her own, if that brown car really slowed down just to stalk her (34), or of

she left a light on at the house. At one point, she ran up to a random man in a mall and asked him if he was her brother, Todd because she thought he looked like him, when it wasn’t. Cynthia’s anxiety kept her up during the night sometimes, she often woke up to see if Grace and her husband Terry were still with her.

Enid Sloan is the antagonist in my book, she is Cynthia’s father’s other wife. Cynthia’s father had two…...

Goodbye

...Another goodbye story This goes down as another story, another chapter. Another story to sit and ponder about, another chapter added to my book of life. I sit and type these words out all I envision is you walking towards me, you walking strong. All I can envision is your smile you say hello to me, and the side eye you give when you walk away. Hurt. Hurt is a common feeling that I have, you hurt my feelings, not by your actions but the way you go about it. I guess it's easy to completely ignore someone as if they don't have any feelings. It rude and its mean. But that's something you do and don't seem to want to change, it obviously works for you. But Sevante I'm done, I done changing your mind, I'm done textng you, I'm done calling you. All in all you really don't care so why should I. We had our fun and we shared great laughs, but I'm not allowing you to do what you want with me. And only deal with me when it's convenient for you. It's not right. I really like you and you know that. But your words and your actions are no longer lining up. So today is goodbye. Goodbye to our jokes, goodbye to our laughs, goodbye to our smiles. Goodbye to our hugs, goodbye to our kisses, goodbye to our intimacy. Goodbye. I pray that one day you will see that what your doing isn't good, and I pray that you never have to go through it....

Time

...Time is said to be eternal. It is said that it has neither a beginning nor an end. Yet men are able to measure it as years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds. They have also given meanings to the words – past, present and future. True, time has a meaning. It moves. What was yesterday is not today. What is today will not be tomorrow. Yesterday is gone. Today is and tomorrow is yet to come. Yet time is said to have no holiday. It exists always. The entire creation moves on according to a time pattern. There is birth, growth and death. There is time for everything. Plants flower and give fruits. Seasons come according to time. A child is born, grows into boyhood, adolescence, youth, middle age and old age according to age and time. Every movement of creation is linked with time. One cannot grow paddy in a month nor can a child become an adult in a year. Everything is fixed to a time-frame. Time is a free force. It does not wait for any one. It is commonly said that time and tide waits for no man. Time is money. A minute not usefully spent is an eternal loss. You can never get back the lost minute. One has to strike the iron when it is hot. The time flies and never returns. If you waste time it wastes you. ‘Time is the best medicine’, says Ovid. It is said that time heals all wounds and it even heals what reason cannot. All human beings are emotional. When negative emotions like fear, anger, envy and jealousy overtake them, they lose reason and act in haste......

Time

...Time What does time mean to me? For a long portion of my life time meant the hours I had in a day to do things that I thought were fun. Time was a way I measured how long I had until the next instance of something that I had to do. Time was not important it was numbers on a clock. Time was what I had to keep track of the days as they flew by with nothing important to do. Time in its essence had no meaning, no value, or no real importance. Then one remark made a point in time the most important occurrence of time in my life. One question asked gave value to time, one voice gave meaning to time, and one smile forever made time important. The first time I saw her made me question what I was using time for. How could someone I just met change my views on the importance of time? “How big is that shirt? It is like a tarp on you.” That one question followed by that one comment was the first event in my time that had real importance. It was the first time in my life that time had meaning, value, and importance. Her answer made me blush. Her smile made me forget who I was, and her eyes slowed time. As I tried to regain my thoughts I hurried to the back office. What was I thinking was the first thing that came to my mind. That was the first real event in my life. It was the first event in my life where time had a meaning....

Beautiful Goodbyes Lyrics

...I remember your eyes were so bright When I first met you, so in love that night And now i'm kissing your tears goodnight And I can't take it, you're even perfect when you cry Beautiful goodbye, bye, bye It's dripping from your eyes, your beautiful goodbye It's dripping from your eyes, oh yeah When did the rain become a storm? When did the clouds begin to form? Yeah we got knocked out of course by a natural force And well, we'll be swimming when it's gone And I remember your eyes were so bright When I first met you, so in love that night And now i'm kissing your tears goodnight And I can't take it, you're even perfect when you cry Beautiful goodbye, bye, bye It's dripping from your eyes, your beautiful goodbye It's dripping from your eyes, oh yeah All the pain you try to hide Shows through your mascara lines as they stream down from your eyes And let them go, let them fly Holding back won't turn back time Believe me, i've tried Your eyes were so bright And I remember your eyes were so bright And I remember your eyes were so bright When I first met you, how in love were we that night And now i'm kissing your tears goodnight And I can't take it, you're even perfect when you cry Beautiful goodbye, bye, bye It's dripping from your eyes, your beautiful goodbye It's dripping from your eyes, yeah Beau....oh yeah (laugh)...

Goodbye to Happy Hour

...the situation on the ground, this is not only because of a lack of engineers with the appropriate background, but also because of lack of engineers that are willing to commit themselves to government salaries. Further analysis of the case indicates that little employee motivation is another problem of great concern. Currently, there are three vacant posts in the division – that of a top engineer, junior engineer and intermediate technologist. This means that the remaining staff has to take on more work for the division to keep up with its responsibilities. They are being forced to work long hours, which is apparently interfering with their personal lives. For instance, Bob is unable to spend as much time as he would like with his family, whereas Ryan is unable to enjoy his time with friends at a local club after work. On top of this, the management wants them to work even harder by requesting them to take on more projects. In the end, the staff is not only feeling over-used, but also under-appreciated. The circumstances are even affecting the quality of work that employees are willing to do out of their own volition. The other crucial problem affecting the organization is poor leadership. Even though, Jane is qualified and self-driven, her approach in managing the team at the Division of Environmental Assessments is lacking effectiveness. For instance, she is making decisions all by herself instead of discussing some issues with the employees in order to understand their......

Goodbye Lenin

...“Goodbye Lenin” The movie that was planned on being shown, “The Miracle of Bern”, was replaced with “Goodbye Lenin” because the DVD was region locked for Europe and could not be played on an American DVD player. “Goodbye Lenin” was a story of a boy named Alex who saw his mother fall into a coma, and when she wakes, he tries to keep her from knowing all that has happened in the eight long months since she was last conscious. “Goodbye Lenin” starts out in 1989 in East Germany. The Kerner family is made up of Alex (main character), his mother Christina, and his sister Ariana. Alex’s mother is a huge believer in the DDR and when she sees Alex fighting against German police control, she faints in the street as he is taken away. He finds her in a hospital in a coma. Skip forward eight months and the Berlin wall has been taken down and the DDR no longer exists. Christina wakes up from her coma, but Alex is warned by the doctor that any sort of shock could scare her enough to kill her. So for the rest of the movie, Alex does everything he can to keep his proud, DDR supporting mother from knowing what has happened the past eight months and what the current state of West and East Germany is. It’s a bit difficult to write about what I learned from the film, solely because I just got back from a trip to Berlin a few weeks ago and I learned a lot about the history of West and East Germany. This film was more of an entertainment film, rather than an educational one. I......

Saying Goodbye

...become strangers and I pass teachers I used to adore and look the other direction. It is a sad thing to think about but life goes on. In my opinion, high school prepares students for the real world. It doesn’t just give us knowledge on mathematics and how to translate shakespeare. It teaches us the ins and outs, and the ups and downs of life. You meet real people, ones that would cross an ocean for you, and the ones that wouldn’t cross a puddle. You meet yourself, you learn who you are, who you want to be, and what you want to accomplish. You make mistakes while there is still room for improvement. You find parts of education interesting that you thought you would never care about. You watch the people around you succeed and at the same time you watch others fail. You are surrounded by people that make good choices and others that make bad choices. In these moments you learn which direction you are going to take. For me I have learned to take things day by day, and week by week. I learned to not let the little things like, getting a F on a test or a fight with a friend, get the best of me. Most of all I have learned to put my happiness before others because in the end it is me and only me against the world. I feel blessed to have gotten the opportunity to learn from such wonderful teachers. I am not saying they were all angels, but I have gained something so important when walking out of each and every one of those classes. Everyday I hear people talking about how......

Goodbyes Are Not Forever

...GOODBYES ARE NOT FOREVER I never thought I could get this attached to my classmates, so attached that I have mixed feelings as we graduate. I am happy for I know how much we’ve waited for this. I have felt our excitement for it vibrated throughout our classroom as we started with our countdown. I know that we’re happy because of the new freedom close at hand, a new challenge which perhaps tingle our spine from time to time. Yes, graduation has offered us a different kind of happiness. Yet, I’m sad deep within for I know that after this, we’ll go on our separate ways, living our separate lives. I have this creeping feeling we’ll barely see each other from now on. Hey! You’ll be pursuing your dreams and I’ll be pursuing mine. I’ll be forgetting my dear classmates for a while as I daringly take hold of a new chapter in my life, and I guess they’ll do the same too. You know, “forget the buried woes and dead despairs for there’s a brand new trial right at hand.” And then, as we settle down in our new “nest”, we’ll start remembering each other, and all shall be coming back – the laughters, the tears, the jokes, the songs – every little moment I have shared with them. But for now, I have to move on. I have to search for my rightful place in “the circle of life.” Then, though fate may separate us, I hope that sometime, somewhere, we’ll meet again. I shall look forward to that day when I can embrace you and we shall talk, laugh, cry......

...guys are all bundled up." Clearly animated and looking well, he said he didn't feel much different than he did after his five-month station mission five years ago. Kelly and Kornienko had checked out of the space station 3½ hours earlier. In total, they traveled 144 million miles through space, circled the world 5,440 times and experienced 10,880 orbital sunrises and sunsets during the longest single spaceflight by an American. Kelly posted one last batch of sunrise photos Tuesday on Twitter, before quipping, "I gotta go!" His final tweet from orbit came several hours later: "The journey isn't over. Follow me as I rediscover # Earth!" Piloting the Soyuz capsule home for Kelly, 52, and Kornienko, 55, was the much fresher and decade younger cosmonaut Sergey Volkov, whose space station stint lasted the typical six months. The two yearlong spacemen faced a series of medical tests following touchdown. Before committing to even longer Mars missions, NASA wants to know the limits of the human body for a year, minus gravity. As he relinquished command of the space station Monday, Kelly noted that he and Kornienko "have been up here for a really, really long time" and have been jokingly telling one another, "We did it!" and "We made it!"...

Goodbye Home Sweet Home

...Anna Hauss Jennifer Parrack-Rogers English 111-006 Description and Illustration Essay 13 September 2011 Goodbye Home Sweet Home It was a day like any other day. I woke up early to prepare for what Monday had in store for me. Class was first on the agenda and I was driving into town when my phone started ringing abruptly. Dad was calling. The moment I picked up the phone my stomach dropped and cold chills devoured my body, as he told me our house had caught fire. I sensed the chill of a shadow cast over me and everything seemed to be moving in slow motion. Instinct pricked me and I knew I needed to return home. When I arrived, my entire street was blocked with fire and rescue crews. On the surface and from a distance, my house looked fine. I started to wander towards the chaos. The closer I proceeded, the damage was more apparent. My eyes began to fill with tears as I sat down tucking my legs to my chest as tight as I could, hiding my face between my knees. I had images racing through my mind of my house being engulfed in flames, with thick, dark smoke pouring out of the windows and roof. I sat in disbelief feeling utterly alone, suddenly assaulted with the vastness of the destruction. I sat, as tears continued to slowly make their way down my somber face, and studied the entrance of my black, damaged home in absolute doubt. I could not help but feel sick to my stomach with anger and discomfort for the obvious injustice of the situation. I heard car doors shut and......

Divorce Time to Say Goodbye

...Divorce Time to Say Goodbye When it comes to breaking-up and ending a relationship, the song by The Manhattans released in 1976 says it best “Let’s Just Kiss and Say Goodbye”. The song has deep and meaningful words, even though it is about a man ending his side relationship with his lover, it holds true for any relationship that is ending, especially a marriage. There are several reasons why people decide to dissolve their marriage. No matter, how they arrived at the decision, the end result not only affects them but it will affect the children, pets, family, and friends. They must determine the best way to inform their loved ones about the dissolution of the marriage. They must also decide who will have custody of the children and pets. When a man or woman is fed up with their spouse mishandling of finances, lack of communication and unfaithfulness; they feel divorce is the best solution. Money is a touchy topic regardless of the situation but there are several reasons why people may mishandle their finances. Although, the reasons may vary, some couples divorce over finances because of bad investments, addictions, and lack of maturity. A person should never invest their money into anything without a lack of understanding because when something sounds too good to be true it usually is and the damage it does cannot be changed. Addictions are no longer limited to drugs and alcohol; gambling and porn is on the rise as well. Gambling and purchasing porn......
