Business Overview

The company’s business centre is located in Switzerland. It operates worldwide in the countries of France, Germany and other European countries, Brazil, and Australia. It has five major business partitions which are presented in the table below. Yogurt products, including LC1, are part of the dairy business, a subset of the milk and nutrition businesses.

External Environment Analysis (1994 - 2000)

The General Environment

* Technological – The last part of the twentieth century was the influx of IT capital investment in Europe. This rise in IT spending which concerns the sale of hardwares, software, and related internal and external services, plus telecommunication has improved the efficiency of distribution channels between the seller and the final customer. It also contributed to the enhancement of computer information systems of companies, especially those that operate in an industry that rely deeply on R&D.

* Economic - 1995 was the start of implementing environmental taxes on different sectors of the European economy. These is in view of adjusting revenues in the national budget and in some extent, produce incentives for a behavioural change among citizens by increasing certain product prices. Though it benefited the natural environment, the business environment in Europe was partially flooded with this tax burden. Profits were lessened by the implementation of the new tax.

* Sociocultural – A good diet and adequate food supply, the central for promoting health and well-being, is the focus of every person even these days; whether or not he/she belongs to a the Baby Boomers cohorts generation. ...Environmental Analysis Who hasn’t heard of the energy drink known as Red Bull? I’m sure just about everyone who goes to Valdosta State University sure has! Red Bull is a type of energy drink aimed to give individuals that extra boost of energy that they are lacking. Taking a closer look into this product, there are quite a few environmental forces that add up together to make this product a huge success. The first of these is the sociocultural forces, these forces focus on people’s demographic characteristics, cultural values, and consumerism. Red Bull’s marketing scheme is aimed at appealing to the extreme sports athletes, adrenaline junkies, and fast-paced individuals in today’s society. This drink is loaded with energy boosting caffeine to make anyone’s day go from boring to booming. Although Red Bull is mainly aimed towards marketing to the healthier individuals, it is actually full of sugar and/or chemicals depending on the type of Red Bull that is consumed. To put this into perspective a regular can of Red Bull has 27 grams of sugar which is about equal to six teaspoons of sugar in just one can (Healthy, 2010)!
