MY FIRST DAY AT COLLEGE

MY FIRST DAY AT COLLEGE
OR

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE COLLEGE
Points:
Introduction – My first day at college – New atmosphere – Conclusion.
My first day at college is an important event of my life. To me it is an unforgettable day. During my school days. I had a glimpse of college life from my elder brothers and sisters. I was most curiously awaiting the day when I would start my college life. I thought that the college life would offer me a free life; here restrictions would be few and threat of teachers would be little. At last the longed for day came in.
I was admitted to the Government College of my city. I entered the college premises with new hopes and aspirations. I was glad to see that the college presented a new sight. It was quite different from what I had seen in and around our school. I came across many unknown faces.

I had some very strange experiences on the first day of my college life. I was baffled to see students playing indoor and outdoor games and enjoying radio programmes during class-hours. There is no restriction of uniform. I observed that the students are free in their movements. They can do things according to their choice.

First Day

...The beeping of my alarm clock sounded like a countdown. The first day of high school was only two hours away. I was excited, but a lot more nervous. I got out of bed, got ready, and then was on my way to the bus stop. All I could think of were the stories I heard about high school being so horrible with all the strict teachers, the really hard tests, and of course being a freshman didn’t help either. The bus ride to the school was only ten minutes, but it seemed a lot longer. When we finally got there, I was more nervous than ever. The day ahead of me was about to get a lot more complicated though with all the work, finding a seat at lunch, and getting lost. I just knew the first day of high school was going to be a memorable one. I drug my feet slowly, walking forward as I started looking at all the other kids; most of them were in their groups and were talking, laughing and smiling amongst themselves. It was very loud, almost as if I were in a football stadium. I could see teachers confronting the other students for wearing hats, having their IPod headphones in, or just causing mischief. I felt very small, like an ant, waiting to be crushed by someone. I opened the double glass office doors to a place with more people than I ever thought could fit into that small of an area. Everyone was elbow to elbow; it was like being in a sardine can. It turns out I was not the only one who was having difficulties finding my way around. I heard a loud......

The First Day

...The first day The short story, “The first day” is about a young daughter and a mother. It is written by Edward P. Jones The daughter is about to start in elementary school, and there is a lot of feelings involved in this new chapter of her life. The girl is wearing a checkeredlike blue-and-green cotton dress, and her mother spent nearly an hour on her hair this morning, plaiting and replaiting, so that the girl’s head tingles, all this for making a good expression of her daughter, the first day of a whole new life with school. The new start of the daughter’s life starts out crooked anyhow, as they are turned down at the first school they go to. The mother wants her to go to Seaton Elementary School, as its location is close to an important place for the mother. Seaton is just across the street from her mother’s rock – the church. The reason the woman from Seaton Elementary School turns them down is because of the place they are living. She says that since they are living beyond the area that Seaton serves, her daughter cannot be attending Seaton. They will have to visit Walker-Jones Elementary School instead. The mother is not convinced yet though, for several more minutes she questions the woman why her daughter can’t attend Seaton. This point in the story gives great insight in her mother’s will, and how much she really wants to give her daughter an education. Even though the woman turns her down, she does not give up. As well as it shows that she has a......

First Day of My Life

...“First Day of My Life” Conor Oberst was born on February 15th 1980 in Omaha Nebraska. He has been writing, recording and performing since 1992. He is mostly known for his work with the group “Bright Eyes” but he has also done solo projects and side projects such as Desaparicidos. Conor is also one of the founding members of Saddle Creek Records and Team Love Records, which started such bands as Rilo Kiley, The Faint, and Azura Ray. With Bright Eyes, Conor has released 15 studio albums to this day. In 2005 the band came out with two albums at once, “Digital Ash in a Digital Urn” and “I’m Wide Awake it’s Morning.” The song I have chosen comes from “I’m Wide Awake…” and is the 6th track on the album. It’s a slow acoustic song about love, and love not being returned but overall has an upbeat tempo and meaning. The song is all done acoustic with no percussion or electrical instruments, just the singer and the guitar, with very little other background instruments that you can only sometimes pick out backing up the guitar. This soft approach really lets you listen to the lyrics without being distracted and helps you feel the overall meaning of the song. With the lighter than normal background music and his soft-spoken voice the song is an easy listen that has a lot of emotion behind it. The style of writing he uses for his lyrics are very basic. He uses common words without any catchy hooks or chorus, which, to me makes his words have a deeper meaning. He’s not writing or......

In My College Days...........

...In my college days, I was associated with Prayaas, a student’s initiative for teaching the under-privileged children of the nearby locality of our college and provide them a better education by providing them stationeries, books and tutoring them. To help with the financial requirement of the Prayaas, we collected newspapers, old books –copies from our batch mates, seniors, juniors in different hostels, which were later sold for making paper bags. We also sold Prayaas T-Shirts among our college mates so that we can generate funds for providing stationeries, books and copies to those children. And on weekend evening, we took out 1-2 hours of time to teach and guided the children. We team members had tough time initially convincing the guardian-parents of the children to make their children attend our classes. So we started with small number of children who were ready and seeing our dedication and sheer effort, other children also stated attending the sessions. because most of them had this notion that they have to pay for this tuition classes and they did not see any reason why they should send their wards to these session when they are already sending them schools. But we explained them that despite they are attending classes, these students must have some doubts, issues regarding their academics so that we can guide them. I would like to recall the college incident again when I was serving as the Joint-Treasurer of the Cultural Society of the college. The......

My First Day at School

...My First Day at School After a patience of six years to become the known phenomenon as a student, I suddenly felt nervousness scatter my entire body. I was lost in my own thoughts and there were nowhere to escape. The excitement and enthusiasm that had been grown since last year where my parents told me the very unknowing thing school disappeared. I didn’t want that the school should be replaced by the comfortable kindergarten with the safely settings where my friends were. I became afraid of the unconscious, afraid of the strange and I began crying. I wanted that my father immediately turned the car and drove back home, but it was too late. We were only few metres from the school. My parents told me that it would be great and that I would meet new people, and get new friends to know. I would no longer be a little boy, but instead a big boy that went to school with own schoolbag with books in it. I knew that all the things my parents told me were just for to get me more comfortable in the situation. Actually it helped especially the last thing they told me and therefore I saw a ray of hope even though the circumstances. Was it so terrible as I predicted? Maybe it was just me who was too exaggerated. I was dressed in my finest clothes and my hair was weird done with help by some sticky trash, fashionable my mother told me. N. Zahle’s School was the name of the school where I began and spent my next ten years. It was a school of good reputation where my sister......

First Day

...01/28/2014 ENG: 102 Professor Benjamini On my first day in this new semester I have realized that sometimes in life some events just happen to make us a better person in the future. I woke up and came to Norwalk Community College and seen something that I thought I would not encounter here. I noticed one of my Muslim friends that were attending this school with me being bullied for his religion and the attire that he had on. Honesty I wasn’t shocked by this only because I have experienced this before. I know that racism takes place all over the world but I just can’t stand it when it takes place in front of me. I stood up for my friend and explained to the bullies why what they were doing was wrong. At the end of the day it was just ignorance and confusion that I had to face but I honestly was really proud to help someone out in the time of need. I honestly don’t know why I’m writing about this but I just feel as if it’s something that I’m a part of. I believe that this school actually provides a strong foundation for a lot of students and things like bullying just ruins everything. In conclusion, I feel like this school is amazing and an event that really moved me is the first day when I actually stood up for something that I believe in. My friend has been thanking me ever since and I have even come to terms with the bullies and try to teach them more about my religion and my point of view on things. I’m actually glad that things worked out because it gave me more......

First Day

...My mother accompanied me to school on the first day. Other parents accompanied their children as well. We all waited in front of the school office. Soon a teacher came and led us to some classrooms. There we were put into four separate classes. This was when some children began to cry as the parents were not allowed into the classrooms. I did not cry because I had been to kindergarten before. Actually my mother went home soon after for she knew I would be all right. It was an enjoyable time for me as I got to know my new classmates. The teacher was very busy writing down our particulars so we had plenty of time to ourselves. Meantime some children continued to sob while their parents looked in anxiously through the windows. Soon recess came. Some of us headed for the tuck-shop while the rest headed for their parents. I bought a drink with the money my mother gave me. Getting to know my new friends had made me thirsty. After recess we went back to out classroom and my new friends and I managed to coax two boys to stop crying. In fact, soon we were laughing and playing together. Once in a while the teacher had to tell us to keep quiet as we were making too much noise. Still some parents looked in anxiously through the windows. Finally the bell rang for us to go home. Some of us were very relieved to be reunited with our parents. I too was glad to see my mother waiting for me at the school gate. I had made many friends. It had been a wonderful first day at......

My First Day in English Class

...to us especially we as students. We did nothing much on the first day of our english class but i also gain alot of things from my first day in english class. On the first day of class i got to know that my lecturer for english is Miss Yumni Yassin. Firstly we were asked to introduce ourself. Then our lecturer set some rules and regulation for us such as '' no late comers are allowed in the class'' and we can only speak english language in our english class even to our friends. Even though its hard for some students to follow theese instruction but i think setting these rules is very good idea. Because it makes us to be more discpline and punctual. Next we are given a chance to sound out what we aspect from our english class, and how to make our english class interesting for all of us. Besides that we are also required to take out a piece of paper and a pen. Then we are require to write down which part in english are we week in. After that we were asked to send the paper to her without writting our name this is because few of the students might be shy to tell about their weakness in english language because they think they will ''lose face''. Moreover our lecturer also gave us introduction about english and explain to us which part are we going to cover in this trimester for english, she also told us the importance of grammar to us. Finally we were dismiss. Eventhough our class were ''send one packing'' the first day but i really learnt alot and how important grammar is to......

First Day

...My first day at college was so fantastic that I have never met before. I used to think about the class in college which is different from in high school. The most things that I was wondering is about the course study to get the credit which make me blank and the assignment too. I was not use to change from high school to college that why I was a little scared when I went into the building, and I saw so many students that I did not know. I was surprised that we have class all day and there are around 150 students in one lecture class. I went to my first class really early so that I could get a seat close to the teacher to record the class and meet my classmate. Fortunately, there were some students that I knew from high school. Therefore, the class is not so scaring anymore and everything is seemed to be better than before. Now is one another thing, I did not realize that college’s student could wear whatever they want; it doesn’t matter with the uniform. But except one, is about your ID card, you have to put it on whenever you are in college, if you don’t, you won’t be allowed having the class, so it totally different to compare to high school. Related to this, the college contains only two sections for one morning, each section last two hours. And we have fifteen minutes for having the break time. After that, I went to my next class. As I was walking, I tried to make new friends with the other students. The morning class is finished; I stayed at college and had lunch......

First Week of College Reflection

...A person’s first week at college is one of the most significant transition periods in their life. It is ultimately one of the most surprising, frightening, and enjoyable experiences they will have. My first week at NDSU was no exception to this. There were things about my first week that I was completely not expecting, things that didn’t surprise me at all, and things that have been very rewarding. First, multiple things about my first week of college surprised me. One of these things was that the days don’t go by nearly as slowly as I thought they would. In high school, I was at school from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on any given day, and no matter what, the time seemed to go unbearably slow. I thought that I would be experiencing the same feeling of the day dragging on in college. Because I don’t live on campus, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have a 5 p.m. class, on those days I am typically on campus from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. I didn’t think I would be able to handle long school hours again, especially hours even longer than I was at high school. However, there are so many ways to stay busy at NDSU that the hours practically fly by in a comparison to high school. The seemingly shorter school days are just one of the things that surprise me about NDSU. Second, there were several things about college that met my expectations exactly. For example, going into college I figured that there was going to be a very large amount of homework in comparison to high school. I......

My First Day at the Eli

...My First Day at the ELI I had never been more disappointed in my life. On January 12, 2012, I traveled to Syracuse because I wanted to learn English as a second language at the English Language Institute. Now, as I was there for my first day, I realized that my frustration had only just begun. First, My English was not so good, and there were multiple English tests to determine the suitable level for me. When the first test started, a long piece of paper like a mat was distrusted among us, and I was required to read it and write a reflection about it in an essay format within an hour. At that time, I did not know what an essay is, and how to write it; moreover, I did not understand the article at all due to a lot of academic words I was not familiar with; as a result, I did not write anything. In addition to the writing test, I had to take a listening test and answer some questions. It was very awful since I did not get anything from that long conversation. The talk was quickly, and I could not write something down. Not only there were a writing and listening test, but also a speaking test as well. It was like an interview to test my speaking skills. The only things that I answered were what my name is and how old I am, other than that, I kept repeating this expression could you speak slowly? After I finished these tests, I thought there was nothing else to do, so I started to comfort myself and forget about these tests. However, I was mistaken; I was asked to go......

My First Day at Work

...familiar ringing tone of my alarm pierced through my fading dreams as I woke up with a start. The day had finally come. I was going to start working. To many, including myself it was a surprise. But what was more surprising was the sudden gush of emotions I felt. I was excited about discovering the new phase of my life, feared the unexpected and sensed a feeling of loss and nostalgia. The walls of my room seemed to hold no answers to the innumerable questions that crossed my mind as I sat staring into the distance deep in thought. Hearing my mother call out to me, I finally dragged myself out of bed and noticed the neatly ironed shirt and pair of trousers that she had carefully picked out and smiled to myself. That morning my appetite had deserted me. After a string of advices I finally left home. The cab was late by twenty minutes. As I reached, it was an eight-story building and the atmosphere of the corporate world that seemed like a shroud around it that greeted me. It was lunchtime and the crowd seemed to be getting bigger as I stood there waiting for the lift. And unfortunately that day only two of the four lifts seemed to be working. Finally the lift opened up to the fifth floor and I walked to the Security Desk where I met my batch mates. They seemed as perplexed and nervous as I was. The Security Guard clad in a blue uniform directed us a room and I managed to seat myself on the first bench. Unknown faces surrounded me and I was glad that Neil, one of my best......

My First Day

...My first day at Cashmere High My alarm woke me up at 7 am. It was the 1st of February 2009. My body was still damaged from the yet lag of the long flight the day before. It took my eyes a couple of minutes to realize where I was, and what was about to happen the following day. I got out of bed, went into the bathroom to shower up before going upstairs for breakfast with my new Host family. My Host mother had told me the night before she would drop me of at School before going to work. I sad there around the table, wearing a black shirt and a colour full t-shirt and felt how every bite of toast was a effort to press down. I finished of my coffee and went downstairs to back my school bag. Ten minutes later I was there. My host mother left in front of a door saying “Cashmere High head office” I Went inside and turned to the front desk immediately where a woman wearing a blue dress sat. I told her my name, and where I was from. She pointed me through another door going into a bigger hall way. There I found another 10 foreign student nervously standing around. We stood there for a while too shy to start the first conversation, waiting for someone telling us what to do. A short foreign looking lady came in to the room to greet us all welcome. Here name tag said “Mr. yogi, International support coordinator” . She was going to show us around the school for a start. We got handed a map, telling us where all the different classrooms were and how to find our way around. We walked......
