Racing down the hallway with a plastic sword in my hand and a cover hanging off of my back I shouted “All for one, and one for all!”, a motto used by the adventurous antagonist trio in my favorite book of all time, The Three Musketeers. As a child, I've always enjoyed reading classical books such as, Huckberry fin and Swiss family Robison. However, none of these classics seemed to top The Three Musketeers. I fell for the story and the writing in a big way. This book is just full of adventure which was perfect for an imaginative kid like me. The amount of adventure and thrill this book provided really blew my mind. I wasn't much of a reader as a kid, finisihing about half the books I started, but this book caught my eyes. I dare you to take the time to read this outstanding book if you haven't already had the privilege, from the moment that you begin reading the first page you will be propelled into a world of action, quests, love, and brotherhood. In the beginning of the story D'Artagnan is introduced to the three musketeers when he incidentally insulting all of them. They each challenge him to a duel because of this, but while he is dueling with one of the musketeers, the cardinal's guards threatens to arrest them because there is a law in which says there is no dueling. D'Artagnan and the musketeers then join forces and drive the guards away. D’Artagnan then becomes friends with the other two musketeers. I always found this a interesting way to start off the story because it shows that the musketeers were enemies at first but had to work together to save themselves. The primary theme featured in The Three Musketeers is between four young gentlemen devoted to the King. Their friendship allows them to combine forces and defeat evil powers that might otherwise prevail. Friendship is thus portrayed in an immensely positive light in The Three Musketeer ...the…...

My Favorite Memory

...My Favorite Memory ENG 101/102 January 30, 2013 My Favorite Memory 1 I have to say that my favorite memory has to be going on our family vacation to the Bahamas. We went on a five day cruise. There were eighteen of us in our group. Including my Daughters’ dad, co-mom & her little brother and sister. We drove down to Port Jax in Jacksonville, Florida to catch the boat. My mom, son Chance, my daughter Kayla and I went down early, so we could enjoy our drive. The trip down was great. Spending time with my family is always nice. We did some sight-seeing on the way down, we sang songs together like we were a quartet and tons of other things. After we arrived in Jacksonville, we checked into our hotel. We were there a few hours before everyone else arrived. When they all got settled in, all eighteen of us met up for dinner. This was a great time to celebrate our big family vacation. The group included nine adults and nine children. Ranging in age from almost two to sixteen. The next day we loaded all of our things up and headed to Port Jax. There we so many people and long lines. Customs was a little stressful, but we all made it through save and sound. After taking pictures, we finally got to board the ship. It was amazing! It was like a floating city. With all of the shops, restaurants, bars & nightclubs. Our luggage was......

My Favorite Meal

...My favorite meal My favorite meal can be classified two meanings. One is your meal you having every day, the other one are special festival meal. Something is flashing in my brain, oh! That’s my favorite meal. I remember my mother took my brother and me to have our buffet in the magnificent hotel. It was an unforgettable, extraordinary and delightful memory in my life. The dainty of every kind in there are appetizing and palatable. I can felt the cookers cooked every cuisine with passionate. So let me tell my wonderful 11th birthday experience to you. In that day morning, all of us woke up premature, even the cock had not rowed yet. It seemed everyone got rid of the bad habit because we usually slept inertia. Maybe my mother spoil me and wanted me have an inconceivable birthday. She came out from the kitchen, holding a plate in her palm of hand. I can saw there were a sunny side up egg, several slice of duck’s brisket and a stick of sausage. In addition, she served me my favorite beverage soda. After we finished our breakfast, we went to our destination by bus. We took 961 and there was a mainland citizen behind me. We were lining up and ready to get in the bus. At that moment I can felt she nudged my back and I really abhor it. Seriously, I loathed their outrageous and absurd behavior. After validated my octopus card, I went to upper deck and I found it was full of seat. It indicated I need to stand in the bus over the whole journey. I went down the stair reluctantly.......

My Favorite Food

...Page1 My favorite food Chicken fettuccine pasta is my favorite food. I prefer this dish because of the great taste. Its necessity consists of a magnificent sauce, tender chicken, and mixed vegetables. This blend of ingredients contributes the flavor, texture, and appearances of this extravagant pasta. Just because the sauce isn’t an attractive color, which is an dull white with drops of Grey from mushrooms and small indefinite amount of green from the broccoli which is added. The creamy fettuccine sauce itself is so tantalizing it’s truly what I call the cream of the crop. Added to the sauce is a mixture of mozzarella, ricotta, and provolone cheese along with sauteed mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. As I twirl the fork of noodles against the spoon, the expectation of silky smooth noodles gliding down my throat salivates the glands on my tongue. While eating such a well desired meal it’s certainly easy to forget my manners, weather its at home or fine dinning I’m always caught of guard slurping the noodles so fast that the sauce ends up on my face. I do use napkins but remember I’m lost into my dream world. The chicken is a substantial filling for pasta. My philosophy is no meal is complete without a thick savory meat. There are many ways to cook chicken before adding it into fettuccine pasta. My favorite is Cajun deep fried chicken breast that’s tender and juicy, cut into thin strips. It has a crunchy golden brown spicy flavored batter. I prefer my chicken......

My Favorite Place

...My Favorite Place Gatlinburg, Tennessee is my favorite place to be for many reasons. In the city there are many small stores and different restaurants to choose from. There is never a boring moment at any time of the day. Every time I visit Gatlinburg I always have an awesome and eventful time. My main favorite place in Tennessee is my grandma’s house. My grandma has always kept many farm and house animals. In the backyard there is an old gray barn with white doors, four windows, and the paint is slowly peeling away on the outside. The barn contains a few pigs, cows, and chickens. She always has had a dog inside the house, currently a caramel colored Boxer named Sammy. About a mile from each side of her house are two big farms. One farm grows different crops such as hay and corn. The other farm has many cows roaming around inside of a fenced area while grazing on hay. There is also an oval shaped pond in her backyard. After a long day I always swim in the pond and in the middle of it there is a huge navy blue raft I swim to and sit on for a while. The pond also stocked with fish so it’s fun to go fishing in too. I love visiting my grandma during the summer because it is very peaceful and eventful. Another reason I enjoy being in Tennessee is the extremely beautiful weather that it has. There are consistent hot and sunny temperatures. In the summer it is usually around 80-100+ degrees outside. During this time I’m never occupied in the house at all and I’m pretty much......

My Favorite Fruit

...My Favorite Fruit: The Coconut. There are a plethora of fruits that one can enjoy eating. With such a broad selection of fruits provided to us, there is one in particular that seems to make my taste buds go wild; the coconut. This exotic fruit, only found in the tropics, is the one that is considered to be my favorite of all. It not only has refreshing tasty water on the inside, but also has solid fruit on the inner part of the sphere shaped cover. The particular type of coconut I enjoy eating is the Maypan Coconut. This coconut has a solid surface, which differentiates it from the one that appears to have hair-like elements. To be able to effectively consume this fruit and the water inside the coconut, one must first make sure there is water inside, because if not it will not taste too pleasant. In order to drink the water inside the coconut, you must open a small hole to fit a straw or to drain the water into a cup. After one makes sure there is no water on the inside, you should use a powerful cutting instrument, such as a machete to cut it open in half. However, if this procedure is performed with water still inside, you will make a disorder. Last but not least, if an individual wishes, they may eat the white meat inside by peeling it with a knife, and therefore it will come right off. The texture of the Maypan coconut is hard and solid. It’s so hard that if it were to fall from a tree onto an individual’s head, it may even cause a concussion. Sometimes the surfaces...

Allegiant: My Favorite Book

...“The fire, the fire. It rages within, a campfire and then an inferno, and my body is its fuel. I feel it racing through me, eating away at the weight. There is nothing that can kill me now; I am powerful and invincible and eternal.” –Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior Reading dystopian novels always keeps me on the edge of my seat. The idea of a declining society led by an oppressive government can be devastating, but the way it is depicted in young adult books of today makes the topic quite stimulating and intriguing. For some odd reason, instead of straying from such stories, I become emotionally attached to them. Veronica Roth, through the Divergent series, did that same kind of magic to me. I do not know how it happened. It just HAPPENED. The Divergent series follows the story of Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior as she struggles to make difficult choices about love, family, and sacrifice. The faction-based world she lives in turns out to be a lot different from what she has always known and she is determined to unravel the intricacies of life and fully embrace her Divergence. I may be alone in this, but Allegiant, the third and final book of the trilogy, is my favorite of the pack. It is filled with a lot of thrilling twists, unexpected revelations, and meaningful lessons that got me holding my breath up to the last page. In the first two books, I have seen a lot of Tris’ hasty and self-destructive decisions which caused her so much trouble (Like when she took it upon herself...

The Furture of My Favorite Technology

...The Future of my Favorite Technology Each generation lives in a changing world, and along with change comes innovation. There are everyday conveniences that I take for granted, yet some of them have only been commonplace for the last 15 to 20 years. Most of them were not even dreamed of when my Mother was young. She remembers when they got their first television and I cannot imagine a world without television. I am sure when my daughter gets older; she will have only faint memories of blue-ray discs and i-phones, because something better will have come along by then. As the saying goes, “change is good”, as I always say, “change is inevitable, but not necessarily good”; however, the technological advances of the last 20 years have certainly made my life different from the last generation. What will the future bring next in the world of technology? In an article I read in Reader’s Digest recently, they asked people living in the United States what they would give up: television, cell phone, or the internet. The results showed that 49% would give up television, but if all the people polled had been over 45 years of age they would have chosen the cell phone. These are three pieces of technology that I use every day. I have had a cell phone for the last sixteen years and I do not know what I did before I had one. I could not imagine letting my daughter out of the house without hers. What did parents do before cell phones? As for the television technology, I like the......

My Favorite Brand Paper

...Favorite Brand Paper There are several brands that I use on a daily basis but my favorite brand hands down is Apple, Inc. The product in particular that has created my romance with this company would be the IPhone. I have been using the IPhone since the first day it arrived on June 29, 2007 and I have been a loyal consumer up to my recent purchase of the IPhone 6 Plus, last month. Apple, Inc. has over $100 billion in sales and increased in sales every year consistently since its launch. I am committed to the quality, innovation, design, and simplicity that Apple, Inc. has provided to me consistently over the last 7 years. Apple, Inc. starts with a commitment to producing the very best product or service that you can imagine. This promise started when the late Steve Jobs took the CEO position at Apple, Inc. and created a marketing blitz with the launch of the IPhone, IPod, and IPad. On January 9, 2007 Steve Jobs delivered the most incredible keynote speech of his life and quite possibly the best in the history of consumer electronics (imore.com, 2014). Steve Jobs said,” That he would be introducing a wide screen IPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone, and a breakthrough internet device.” It was not going to be three separate products but one innovative product the IPhone. The world’s most successful brands don’t become (or remain) the world’s most successful brands without deep dedication to their customer’s needs. Apple’s customer service is legendary.......

My Favorite Recipe

...Terry Harris ACO332561 EN 130 Composition II Lesson 4 Writing a developed process analysis How to prepare my favorite dish I have always been someone who enjoys good food, but very particular about what I eat. So for that reason only I have become somewhat of a chef. I love to entertain and have family and friends over to test new recipes. One recipe I debut have become a family favorite and have to bring it to every family gathering. I received this recipe from one of my coworkers when I was looking for something different to do with cabbage, which I love. She told me that her family loves this recipe and its super simple to prepare. It’s called Runza, similar to a calzone, without the red sauce. To get started you will want to make sure you have all your ingredients close to you. This is what you will need. When I make this recipe I rarely measure anything out. It’s all to taste. I’ll start with the most important ingredients first, One head of cabbage, one pound of ground turkey or ground beef ( which ever you prefer), one green and red bell pepper, mozzarella cheese, one large onion, garlic cloves. You will use one teaspoon of each of these spices: salt, pepper, red pepper, red curry, Italian seasoning and chili powder to give it a little kick. I usually would make my own bread recipe but for time saving measures I just use an already made pie crust. I would get two just in case you will need to double wrap. Lastly you will need, as Rachel Ray would say,......

My Favorite Brand - Nike

...My Favorite Brand - Nike. Nike does not just stick to shoes but they produce everything from socks to sunglasses and hats. Today they still are huge into the shoe industry but Nike also makes jerseys, shorts, base layers etc. Nikes products never stop involving. As a person who wears a lot of Nike gear, my favorite thing about the brand is that they always find a way to make the products better. Take their basketball shoe line for example. When Nike made their first pair of basketball shoes they probably had no idea what they were doing. Today Nike has one of the best lines of basketball shoes out there with the Air Jordan line. These shoes are always light weight and they feature great support and breathable leather which are both needed in a good basketball shoe. Also Nike makes their products stand out with their brilliant use of colors and unique designs. In 2009 Nike introduced the Nike+ products and teamed up with Apple. This allows runners to sink their shoes with their IPods and it will allow them to see how far they have run, how many calories they have burned and also keeps time for them. Nike has also done this with their basketball shoes which allow players to link up through their IPods again. However this new design helps measure a player's vertical, quickness, and other aspects of their game. Nikes products keep improving with the time and there is no end in sight to what Nike can do with their products. Nike has many competitors in their industry. These......

My Favorite Teacher

...My Favorite Teacher by Thomas L. Friedman Friedman’s essay was solely talking about his favorite teacher, which was Hattie. Even though Hattie seemed to be an old stickler, the children at St. Louis Park High School really loved going to Room 313; sometimes they would even go out there and just hangout. He gives Hattie the credit for teaching much of what he knows and how he writes. This reminded me a lot like my English teacher in high school. Devery Feickert was one of my favorite teachers for the longest time. He taught Creative Writing to a handful of children from the 12th grade, myself being one of them. This class taught me how to write in a different way than I did before. My greatest lessons that I got from that class would have to be writing of all the five senses; we did a unit on each. Devery made me look at my writing different than I have ever looked at it before. He gave me a sense of satisfaction with every word I wrote. He made me feel content with being so picky during the writing process, even though half the time I didn’t start my paper until the night before, mostly due to the fact that I was still wandering aimlessly trying to find a suitable topic. My first composition I wrote in college I had to bring back to Devery to share my excitement. I felt great when his response was, “That’s fantastic, Allison! Doesn’t surprise me that you could accomplish that because I know you have that ability. Your hard work in high school pays off, and you can write......

My Favorite Foods

...History of Culture and Cuisine My Favorite Foods Mangos Mangos have been cultivated in South Asia for thousands of years and arrived to East Asia between the 4th and 5th centuries BC. By the 10th century AD, its culture had begun in East Africa. The 14th century Moroccan traveler, Ibn Battuta, reported it at Mogadishu Mangos then came later to Brazil, the West Indies and Mexico, where an appropriate climate allows its growth. “Selecting the ripeness of mangos can be determined by either smelling or squeezing” (Fresh mangos, 2011). A ripe mango will have a full, fruity aroma emitting from the stem end. Mangos can be considered ready to eat when slightly soft to the touch and yielding to gentle pressure, like a ripe peach. “The best flavored fruit have a yellow tinge when ripe; however, color may be red, yellow, green, orange or any combination” (Fresh mangos, 2011). Mangoes are widely used in cuisine. Sour, unripe mangoes are used in chutneys, pickles, or side dishes, or may be eaten raw with salt, chili, or soy sauce. Mango is used to make juices, smoothies, ice cream, fruit bars, pies, or a sweet and spicy chili paste. It is popular on a stick dipped in hot chili powder and salt or also as a main ingredient in fresh fruit combinations. “In Central America, mango is either eaten green mixed with salt, vinegar, black pepper and hot sauce, or ripe in various forms”(Fresh mangos, 2011). Toasted and ground pumpkin seed with lime and salt are used in their country when...

My Favorite Dessert

...Strawberry Shortcake: My favorite dessert What better way to conjure up the simplicity of youth than by memories of my favorite dessert-- strawberry shortcake. The first thought that comes to mind when I think of my favorite dessert is, my grandmother Essie Tolen many of happiest childhood memories come from the kitchen. When I became sad or depressed due to the abandonment of my mother. My grandma knew exactly what dessert to bake to put a smile on my face and comfort my heart. It is a dessert of both meager origins and uncomplicated design. In fact, the basic recipe is so perfect in its original form that few variations have been made and sustained overtime. Very much like the best memories of my childhood, strawberry shortcake is delicious in its pure, unassuming simplicity. The origin of this delicious dessert dates back at least as far as the 1500s, but the evolution of strawberry shortcake is somewhat uncertain. However, records do reveal strawberry shortcake is a European invention. The "short" of the shortcake name derives from the process of adding of shortening or butter to dough to make it tender. Strawberry shortcake parties became popular in the United States around 1850, as a celebration of the coming of summer. The strawberry fever caught up with people as the timing of introducing the dessert clicked and the demand kept increasing every year. Made of fresh ingredients in a few simple steps, it is no wonder strawberry shortcake is so......

My Favorite Place

...April 17,2012 My Favorite Place Through out the whole world, there are plenty of places where people love to go. Some may be a certain area, a store, a home, or even a different country. One place can hold special values to one person. Whether it’s a memory or memories, a feeling, or even just being in the environment. All of it leads up to being a persons “favorite place”. Everyone has a favorite place in their home, a place where he or she can be him or herself. Somewhere you can find peace and harmony. For some it's a quiet place, for others it's a hustling, bustling, full of people and movement place. But all of these places have one thing in common; they are places where you'd run to in times of both joy and stress. There is one place to me that makes me feel like I am the only one in the world. I chose this place because its stress free. It’s the only place in my house where I can be myself. I don’t have to worry about what others have to say. I can lay back and relax on my bed. A lot of times I just lay down and close my eyes and daydream about places I'd like to see or think about things that make me happy. One thing I do not do is think about things I need to get done or anything that makes me feel stressed because then I’ll never feel relaxed. I usually try to stay away from these kinds of thoughts and it usually works out well. Being able to watch whatever I please on my own television. Even playing my Xbox 360, without having to share with my brothers.......
