Festivals and Fiestas in the Philippines 1. Ati-Atihan Festival (3rd Sunday of January) * The Ati-Atihan Festival is a feast held in honor of the Santo Nino held annually in January concluding on third Sunday, in the town of Kalibo, Aklan in the Philippines * Celebrants paint their faces with black soot and wear bright, outlandish costumes as they dance in revelry during the last three days of this two week-long festival. 2. Sinulog (3rd Sunday of January) * The festival honors the child Jesus, known as the Santo Nino (Holy Child), patron of the city of Cebu. It is a dance ritual that commemorates the Cebuano people’s pagan origin, and their acceptance of Christianity. * The festival features a street parade with participants in bright-colored costume dancing to the rhythym of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. 3. We are fighting to wipe out the enemy ( Hussein Mussawi, Former Hezbollah Leader). Who are the Hezbollah? This little statement from their former leader sums it up what they are and what they stand for. Hezbollah is an Islamic Shi’ite group that has its origins in Iran and they also have a branch in Lebanon. Their name in Arabic means “Party of God”, it is derived from the Surra 5, verse 56 of the Quran: Lo! The first part of the primary activities in Porters’ value chain model is inbound logistics. It consists of activities like receiving, storing and distributing inputs to the production, which form a part of delivery process. Optimization of the various areas described above could lead to effective reduction in overall lead time. Some integrated logistics functions that affect the efficiency of total inbound logistics performance are for example facility network design, transportation and inventory management (Milen Mäe & Rünno Ohno, 2012) As per the research done, Lambert (2005) one key activity in delivery process is to provide for the movement of goods from the supplier to the user. This creates both place and time utility for the user. Thus transportation becomes another factor in logistic supply chain causing overall increase in the lead time and needs to be effectively managed.
