A Brief Study of Magick

(The infamous occultist and writer Alistair Crowley added a 'k' onto the word 'magic' in order to distinguish it from the illusion kind of magic. This essay deals with magick associated with the occult and esoteric philosophies so I will be doing the same.)

Magick can be broadly defined as the practice of manipulating, experiencing, influencing and understanding the world using symbols, rituals and language as a part an esoteric tradition. The practise of magick has existed since the earliest human cultures, in very early texts magick was described as the practise of 'the art' (The Mindscape of Alan Moore 2005), this can be taken literally. Northampton writer and magician Alan Moore proposes 'art and magick are indistinguishable' (The Mindscape of Alan Moore 2005). Taking this view, every act of creation can be seen as a magical act; something from nothing, you have nothing, there is an idea, then the finished painting. Alan Moore's decision to become a magician was one he described as 'a logical end step in my career as a writer.' Alan elaborates; 'a grimoire (book of spells) is just an ancient way of saying grammar and to cast a spell is simply to spell, magick is largely a science of language' (The Mindscape of Alan Moore 2005). When one reads a poem, book or watches a television program we want whatever the stimuli is to raise our consciousness in a certain direction, this is the aim of magick, doing a magical ritual fulfils the same function as reading a poem but just one from an esoteric tradition. This attitude towards magick is one that can be held as a rationalist. In the western world magick and the occult is often associated with evil and being a malignant force. This is entirely down to the monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam,…...

For my mother, who taught me to believe in Christmas magic and miracles. Miss you, Mom. Love you always. CHAPTER ONE FOR THE SAKE of a werewolf, he was risking his life. Adrian was a vampire. Powerful and fearless, he could move swifter than the eye could blink. But not now. Peeking over the gray ocean’s horizon, the rising sun began to sap his enormous energy. He was doing all this for Sarah. She was a Draicon, were wolves who once used their magick to learn of the earth, who were now hunted by the more powerful Morphs—former Draicon who embraced evil by killing one of their own. The Morphs shuffled forward on the beach, saliva dripping from their yellowed fangs. Adrian tensed, waiting to see if they would shift to attack. Sarah’s enemies could turn into any animal or insect. A cluster of hooded vampires suddenly glided onto the nearby dunes. Clad in thick robes to protect them against the encroaching dawn, elders from his clan had come to rescue him. But they would not help until Adrian begged. Those were the rules. This was not their war, and he had broken with his clan to fight in it. Vampires and were wolves can never be allies, his father always warned. Sarah rushed......

...very sensible that he does, in this play, depart too much from that likeness to Truth which 112 William Shakespeare ought to be observ’d in these sort of Writings; yet he does it so very finely, that one is easily drawn in to have more Faith for his sake, than reason does well allow of. his magick has something in it very Solemn and very poetical: and that extravagant Character of Caliban is mighty well sustain’d, shews a wonderful invention in the author, who could strike out such a particular wild image, and is certainly one of the finest and most uncommon Grotesques that was ever seen. The Observation, which i have been inform’d three very great men concurr’d in making upon this part, was extremely just. That Shakespear had not only found out a new Character in his Caliban, but had also devisd and adapted a new manner of Language for that Character. among the particular Beauties of this piece, i think one may be allow’d to point out the Tale of Prospero in the First act; his Speech to Ferdinand in the Fourth, upon the breaking up the masque of Juno and Ceres; and that in the Fifth, where he dissolves his Charms, and resolves to break his magick rod. it is the same magick that raises the Fairies in Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Witches in Macbeth, and the Ghost in Hamlet, with Thoughts and language so proper to the parts they sustain, and so peculiar to the Talent of this Writer. But of the two last of these plays i shall have occasion to take notice, among the......

Comparison of Religion

...earth-centered religion. While it does follow many of the same rituals and elements of Paganism, it stresses more of the lighter areas of witchcraft and magic. The Wiccans belief system was started by Gerald Gardner. He created this branch of neo-paganism in 1951 once acts were passed that allowed him to do so without being prosecuted. He believed that he, himself, had been reincarnated. The Wicca Religion is quite different from Christianity. They worship Gods and Goddesses; have rituals, offerings and different celebrations in their belief system. Rituals, in my opinion, would be the most heavily weighed element. Rituals in Wicca and Paganism in general are vast and numerous. They believe magick to be similar to prayer in Christianity or meditation in Hinduism. They do spell magick with a k at the end to differentiate themselves from the types of magic used for entertainment purposes. (“All about religion”, 2010). They do claim their witchcraft has nothing to do with Satan, or satanic cults, but in love and peace offerings to their Gods and Goddesses. Many people connect Wicca and Paganism to Satanism which are all different religions in and of them. Wiccans practice witchcraft with knowledge they have learned through their community and central myths. They use it as offerings to the Gods and Goddesses for health, mental, love, and peace, medical as well as countless other reasons. Since the religion is so knew, and greatly misunderstood, most of the elements......

Always remember to keep your HP up since enemy reinforcements will most likely flank your unions while deadlocked. Also, make it your utmost priority to summon any of your Remnants when you have the chance; this will help divert the enemies’ attention away from your forces as they whittle away the enemy defenses. ...are all ascended masters who can be directly contacted through meditation or astral travelling. 52 Ascended masters play a large role in the belief system of theosophy, so you will hear more about them in that chapter, later in the book. Enochian Magick 53 This is a bit of an offshoot from the topic at hand but a fascinating one nonetheless. 54Not everyone is content simply to know about angels or possibly pray to them for protection or guidance. 55Some branches of magickal practice seek to work with them in a proactive way. 56 This school of magickal arts is known as Enochian magick and comes from the work and supposed revelations that came to Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley in the late 1500s. 57 The key to working with angels in this way is the language, known as the ‘Angelic language’ or ‘Enochian script’. 58This was part of the information revealed to Dr. Dee, and each letter is represented by a unique symbol, usually written from right to left. 59It’s not a language per se, but rather a way of coding regular English. 60 The principles of Enochian work are part of the larger system of Ceremonial Magick, and there is more on this topic in the section on Theosophy. 61 This is a highly complicated system of magick which differs from the more casual ways to work with angels mentioned above. 62There is the script to the right as well as a number of tables filled with seemingly random patterns of letters. 63 64 There are four main tablets, known as the Four......

...love and in my ability to choose to to do only good magick, but both of these revelations still weighed heavily on my mind. Hunter would be here tonight. He hadn’t arrived yet, because I would have felt him. My witchy short-range sensors would have told me. Twenty minutes later everyone in our coven, Kithic, was there, except for Hunter’s cousin, Sky Eventide. She was in England recovering from a failed romance, and I couldn’t help glancing across the circle at the source of her pain, Raven Meltzer. As usual, Raven had dressed for attention, wearing a red satin corset from the forties, complete with cone boobs and garters, which held up fishnet stockings marred by large, gaping holes. Men’s camouflage fatigues, hacked off to make shorts, completed the outfit, along with the motorcycle boots on her feet. “Right, then, everyone,” Hunter said in that English accent that made me wild.“Let’s begin.” “Welcome back, Hunter,” said Jenna Ruiz. “Yeah, welcome back,” said Simon Bakehouse, Jenna’s boyfriend. “It’s good to be back,” Hunter said, meeting my eyes. Harry Potter: Deceitful or Condescending?

...[Genesis 9:4-5] but practiced regularly in Satanism. Further, the symbolism here is unbelievable:  since the Unicorn is a symbol of the coming Antichrist, this scene means he receives a fatal wound; doesn't this sound terribly like the prophesied fatal wound of Antichrist in Revelation 13:3, where the entire world goes after the Beast in amazement after he is resurrected from his fatal wound?  * Centaurs save Harry Potter's life when he discovers someone very evil has killed a unicorn and is drinking his blood. By the way, the symbolism of this heinous act is unbelievable.  First, God forbade the drinking of blood [Leviticus 17:11-14], under the penalty of Death.  Secondly, the unicorn is the occult symbol of Antichrist.  When a Black Magick Witch is depicted as drinking the blood of a unicorn, he is symbolizing that he must draw his life from the blood essence of Antichrist .  This message is precisely what Antichrist will be preaching when he arises, i.e., that people cannot survive without him, that they must draw their life essence from him.  Centaurs – were wild, savage, lustful, bibulous and aggressive personifying man’s baser instincts. The exception was the wise centaur Chiron. Chiron was known for his exceptional goodness and wisdom. He was the only immortal centaur. He became the tutor for a number of famous Greek heroes. Despite his immortality he was to end up dying. Hercules stopped to visit Chiron. Hercules was thirsty and persuaded Chiron to open a jar of......

...hoped to. His first dictionary, A Compendious Dictionary of the English Language (1806), had included the simplified spellings "ake, crum, fether, honor, iland, ile (for aisle), theater, wether" (Mathews 45). But even these innovations constituted a compromise; in his "Essay on a Reformed Mode of Spelling" (an appendix to the Dissertations), he had advocated "doctrin, medicin, examin, determin, disciplin, and opak" (Finegan 44). In the 1806 dictionary, he had also spelled boil (a tumor) as bile (Krapp 344). Many of the reforms introduced in the American Dictionary did succeed and today constitute the primary differences between British and American spelling. These include the simplification of the word-final -ck spellings (as in musick, magick) to -c; the -our spellings (e.g.,colour, honour) to -or; and the -re spellings (inherited from French, in, e.g., centre, theatre) to -re. Druid

...Druidism in Europe The group of people known as the Druids, their practices, beliefs, and lives are shrouded in a great deal of mystery and misconception. Many people are fascinated by Druidism, and the tales of clandestine powerful wizards-quietly working their magick under the velvet cloak of night. Thus the truth is often overlooked, and not well understood. But who were they? Where did they come from? To truly understand them, it is imperative to examine what linguistic studies have taught us about their origins. Virtually all languages spoken today and throughout time- save for Finnish- stem from early forms of dialect called Proto Indo-European (PIE) Languages. Though it is impossible to discern the exact date that these first forms of communication were created, Latin, Sanskrit, and Greek all owe their origins to this early form of dialect. These PIE's as they are called and the people who spoke them influenced culture and society the world over as they spread from their origins in the area that is now Southern Russia. It was these early tribes of people that we know as The Celts. They first appeared as migrants from the Eastern Mediterranean to Britain in two waves- the first around 2300B.C., and the next around 2000B.C. From their ranks, arose the Druids. People such as Max Mueller- the creator of "The Science of Religion" during the 1880's, (Which later became what we now know as the field of Comparative Religion), were pioneers in discovering so much about...

...these sacrificial rituals because the Satanists and their reptilian masters want to access the pure pre-pubescent energy for their own purposes. I have been told by Satanists, many of their victims, and by therapists working with victims, the same stories of ‘regeneration rituals’. The ageing Satanist, sometimes a high ranking member of the Brotherhood, stands in the centre of a circle of babies or young children. As they are sacrificed the ritual allows the Satanist to absorb their life-essense, their life-force, and regenerate his or her body. The world’s most famous Satanist, Aleister Crowley, who had connections to both Winston Churchill and the Nazis, advocated human sacrifice and admitted to sacrificing children. In his 1929 book, Magick In Theory And Practice, he explains the reasons for ritual death and why small boys are the best victims: “It was the theory of the ancient magicians that any living being is a storehouse of energy varying in quantity according to the size and health of the animal, and in quality according to its mental and moral character. At the death of this animal this energy is liberated suddenly. For the highest spiritual working one must accordingly choose that victim which 295 contains the greatest and purest force. A male child of perfect innocence and high intelligence is the most satisfactory and suitable victim.”12 Crowley adds in a footnote that according to the records of the Satanist, Frater Perurabo, he performed just such a......
