Business is a vital part of our world today. Business offers our world opportunity, equality, and an array of choices. The key ingredient in business is communication. Bad communication or lack of communication in a business setting can single handedly cause a business or corporation to crumble to pieces. When working in a business setting, there are many business tactics and business formulas that are used. A number of these business tactics and business formulas have been around for decades, and have been proven to achieve the best results possible. These business formulas and business tactics usually have a focus around a type of business team comprised of different specialists and or employees within a particular company. In each of these business teams, ground rules are laid out, work is divided amongst the respected departments and or individuals, and deadlines are set. Without this process, these business teams would be likely to become inefficient, simply due to a lack of direction. Here at UOP, we the students use what is called a Learning Team Charter. This is a document that not only lays down basic team ground rules; it also addresses things such as individuals’ strong points, weak points, timelines, situational processes, and team member contact information. This paper will address the Learning Team Charter, give an in depth breakdown of all sections listed, and analyze the Learning Team Charter as a whole in order to justify the worth of the document.

...first assignment as a team. With working with all these different people, with many different personality types, can prove to be a challenge. We had some good times, some bad times, and even some funny times. The first challenge was everyone having a clear understanding of the assignment. The team members who had a clear understanding went right off and left the group members who needed some more clarification of the assignment. This caused the team not to be on the same page. The Learning Team Charter will help keep this from happening again because the team put this problem on the Charter. We could see very early on that the problem existed and we took care of it and we added to the Charter. The second problem we ran into was everyone not equally participating. Some team members wanted to jump right in and knock the assignment out. So, they started contributing right away. Other team members messed around until the Charter was almost completed. I do not know if this was because they did not understand the assignment, they did not have the time, or just laziness. The Learning Team Charter will hopefully keep this from accruing again. The team added this to the Charter under most every section. The team wanted this to be clearly stated, so that it does not occur again. It is never fare when one or two team members do all the work for the entire team. It is very important for every team member to contribute equally. The most common form of ADR includes arbitration, negotiation, mediation, conciliation, mini-trial, fact-finding, and judicial referee (Cheeseman, 2010). In the learning team environment conflicts and disputes among team members have the potential to occur. Because disputes need to be resolved within a timely manner to avoid falling behind in deliverables, an ADR clause may be necessary to help resolve conflicts and disputes. The purpose of this paper is to prepare an ADR clause conducive to a learning team environment. The ADR clause, disputes subject to an ADR, and provisions necessary to enable an ADR will be identified. Unresolved conflicts and disputes in a learning team environment are subject to the alternative dispute resolution clause. Conflicts and disputes can include lack of participation, lack of preparing and submitting required deliverables on time, violations of academic integrity, and the code of conduct including plagiarism, whether intentional, or unintentional (University of Phoenix, website, 2010). The Online Learning Systems or OLS provides students with a unique way to learn and to attain a Graduate or Undergraduate degree. One of the requirements of studying at University of Phoenix via the OLS is to work in a Learning team. A Learning Team consists of three to six students working together to complete assignments and to learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge. ...ADR for a learning team ADR can be a less adversarial and hostile way to resolve a dispute among the members of a learning team. This can be an important advantage where the members have a relationship to preserve. ADR can help them find win-win solutions and achieve their real goals.
