Climate Change
Currently some scientists are blaming the climate change and global warming on greenhouse effects in the atmosphere while others are blaming the sun for warming up the atmosphere, some are also stating we as humans are to blame for polluting our atmosphere with chemicals that heat up the atmosphere and never make it out into space, which in turn is causing the earth to be more warmer. Some scientists say the increase in green house effects are causing us harm, others are stating it is preventing the earth from becoming cold once again and starting an ice age. Some evidence from all continents and most oceans show that may natural systems are being affected by regional climate changes and temperature increase. Whatever the reason scientists and environmentalists alike are trying to figure out what the main cause is and what needs to be done to correct the problem.

The sun is the fundamental source that brings us heat and light so some scientists believe that the output from the sun is increasing in turn causing warmer weather. There are previous studies stating that the sun was the cause of past climate changes. For example there was a small ice age from 1650 to 1850 in Greenland when glaciers and ice advanced up into the Alps. No studies were scientifically proven and if the sun were to be the actual cause scientists would see warmer temperatures in all layers of the atmosphere. Instead scientists have only seen a warming of the surface of earth and the lower parts of the atmosphere. Which leads the majority of scientists to believe greenhouse gases are the cause of heat being trapped in the lower parts of the atmosphere. The only major pro to having a warmer climate is preventing another ice age. Some scientists believe a warmer climate helps plant life and crop production as well but there is no evidence to support that claim.

...Abstract There is no doubt that as the American society has advanced technologically, economically, and politically over the decades that the positive and negative effects have trickled down into family structures. As time has passed, parenting rolls have changed and these altered rolls have led to an advanced but weaker society. It has been documented in the history books that the 1960s was one decade full of turmoil and change. During those times the United States was a country that was suffering from social, racial, and gender intolerance that sparked events that would transform this nation and propel it into the future. Women in the 60s were paid salaries well below that of men in every occupation. As time and our civilization have progressed, minority groups and women have both been granted equal rights with the rest of the American citizens. Changes to the family structures have been changed in light of equal rights. Over the past forty years notable changes include changes in women and men roles, increases in divorce rates, and the effects the role reversals have had on the children. Over a century ago more than two-thirds of household consisted of an employed husband, while the wives stayed home with the children. (Mintz, 2012). We all are aware that has changed. Women with children are more likely to work a fulltime job as well as her husband. Studies show that in 2010 there were more American women employed than men. (Castelloe, 2011). In addition,......

Purpose   The purpose of this proposal is to request your approval to evaluate the current video game tournament sign-up process and ultimately institute an entrance fee for all tournaments starting next semester. Summary   When the TerpZone started running the video game tournament series, I personally did not know what to expect, as I was in charge of coming up with a schedule of games, implementing the schedule into the TerpZone calendar, coming up with various ideas to market the various tounrmanents, and actually hosting and running the tournaments. But as the results have shown, the TerpZone video game tournament series has been a huge success, and the attendance numbers have steadily increased as more students become aware of the possibilities that our tournaments offer. However, as this number has continued to increase and I have continued to implement different new strategies and additions to the tournaments, there still lies the problem of what measure of compensation the......

Any good academic writer’s quality is his/her mind is loaded with creative set of ideas that help him navigate through the whole topic of academic paper. Ideas lead you to somewhere and only a few good students are gifted by nature and if you are not then you can also build up a good rhythm of academic writing. Secondly, you should also have a good sense of your audience; you should know what element of your academic writing would entice them and also create some space for your write-up for reading in their schedule. You then research for resources and data that would be of great use to enlighten your readers. Knowing what you audience wants, should be in your priority because readers enjoy what they seek in your writing. ...and lecturers’ experiences regarding this issue and to explore their individual perceptions about why some student nurses are being allowed to pass clinical assessments without having demonstrated sufficient competence. A theoretical sample of mentors and lecturers associated with three of the Universities in Scotland who offered the Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing volunteered to be interviewed for the study. The sample consisted of 14 lecturers and 26 mentors. Four categories and fourteen subcategories emerged from the data collected. Findings from the study reveal that students are passing clinical assessments even when there are doubts about their clinical performance. It is revealed that some mentors are unwilling to put pen to paper regarding these concerns which presents lecturers and subsequent mentors with difficult moral dilemmas. Lecturers identified the importance of following procedure when faced with a fail scenario. They also identified that weak students often had a history of problems within clinical practice but had often been given the benefit of the doubt and so progressed through the system. Mentors identified that failing a student was a difficult thing to do and that personal, emotional, as well as, practical issues influenced the outcome of their judgements regarding students’ clinical performance. It emerged that preparing mentors for their role and responsibility in a fail scenario was vital as was adequate support from both education and......

...Chapter 2 Goods, Products and Services Glenn Parry, Linda Newnes, and Xiaoxi Huang 2.1 Introduction Defining terminology is a useful starting point when reading or writing on the subject of service to prevent any confusion or assumptions that we all understand the terms to mean the same thing. So, what do we mean by goods, products and services? This is a book about service, but what is a ‘service’ and how is it different to ‘goods’ or ‘products’? Whilst most people intuitively know the difference between a product and service, actually defining this difference with clarity and accuracy of text is not straight forward. The terms ‘goods’ and ‘products’ appear to be used interchangeably in much of the literature, but even here we can find debate about meaning (Araujo and Spring 2006; Callon 1991, 2002). However, for the sake of brevity we will here accept that they both refer to the same thing and focus on attempts to differentiate goods and services. This quest is far from straightforward. Since the early eighteenth century academics and scholars from different domains have attempted to define these terms explicitly (Say 1803; Levitt 1981; Hill 1999; Gadrey 2000). In this chapter we will attempt to illustrate their findings in order to provide some background to the debate. 2.2 Goods In the eighteenth century Adam Smith (1776) stated that goods have exchangeable value and so a characteristic of a good is that its ownership rights can be established and......

...Name: CASILIHAN, Pedreel Christian P. FINAL PAPER in World Literature SEA STORY by A.S. Byatt The purpose of analyzing a story is to understand more what is hidden behind the story itself, it is to look between the lines. Like, why is the ending like that, or why is the character behaving like that. What are those events for, why are they happening and so much more. There are many questions that can be answered when we analyze a story and look deeply into it. This is very important because every story has it’s own relevance in our own lives, or maybe in our society. Usually, a story has it’s own moral lesson, or for the reader to learn and experience. This enables the reader to relate it to his or her life, what are the similarities and differences. One can analyze if some of the happenings in the story are true to life or not. In every setting, characters, and events that occur in the story, each has it’s own interpretation. It is also helpful in such a way to enhance the reader’s analytical skills. It is also to know more about the author itself, what the author is trying to tell us. What is his/her main focus, main goal, or objectives in creating such story. Is the author delivering us a message? Or waking us up in reality? There are a lot of things that we can reveal when we deeply analyze a story. It is not about how it began, or how it ended, but how the story goes and what are the techniques that the author used to portray a certain event. There can be symbols...

The break even analysis shows that making of security badges might help to increase profits. 2) The second reason would be that as interest on borrowings is a fixed cost (which cannot be written off against revenues) so borrowing funds would the Katie business to generate more earnings. Similarly, it can also be found that Katie business might not have retained earnings in its business and thus borrowing from outside sources is really necessary to cover the startup cost. The two reasons why not to borrow money would be, 1) It would increase the debt ratio for the Katie business and thus it might not be a good thing. This is because a higher debt ratio would mean that the company is highly risky and investors would not be attracted to invest it. 2) Secondly, the cost of borrowing might be too much high which can increase the overall interest expense (fixed cost) of the Katie business. Katie must find other means to arrange money in order to cover up the startup costs. Bringing a new partner or using previous profits can help to solve this situation....

...Quick study guide 16 Writing a case study There are two different approaches to case studies: This QuickRef focuses on Type 2: The problem-oriented method (Always check with your lecturer to confirm which type is required.) A successful case study analyses a real-life situation where existing problems need to be solved. It should: • Relate the theory to a practical situation; for example, apply the ideas and knowledge discussed in the coursework to the practical situation at hand in the case study. • Identify the problems. • Select the major problems in the case. • Suggest solutions to these major problems. • Recommend the best solution to be implemented. • Detail how this solution should be implemented. Note: The Case is the “real life” situation The Case Study is the analysis of this situation Writing a Case Study There are usually eight sections in a case study: Synopsis/Executive Summary • Outline the purpose of the case study. • Describe the field of research – this is usually an overview of the company. • Outline the issues and findings of the case study without the specific details. • Identify the theory that will be used. • Here, the reader should be able to get a clear picture of the essential contents of the study. • Note any assumptions made (you may not have all the information you’d like so some assumptions may be necessary eg: “It has......

...– new wife, family. He suffered from alcohol abuse and at the age of 22, committed suicide. As an oldest child, I developed a propensity to self-medication in my early twenties and thankfully out grew it, but others are not so lucky. The question, “What role does birth order play in likelihood of occurrence or recurrence of substance abuse?” is interesting to me and I really did not know what to expect! With no preconceived theories, I remained open to all possibilities that research would show. For choosing research sources and materials, peer reviewed journals are considered unbiased, for the most part, and are respected resources for writing a research paper. There are of course top-tier journals and also vanity journals, but peer reviewed articles that are vetted by objective experts are normally considered very good sources for research projects. The authors are typically scientists and researchers in the field of study, and the content is closely reviewed and evaluated by other experts who will question research methods and findings. Scholarly journals like Journal of Alcohol and Drug Dependency and Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology are considered reputable journals in the field and were chosen for their reputation. One problem with the study of birth order and substance abuse is that some of the research is fairly old. The ABCDs taught in this class ask students to consider the author, any bias, the content of the information and also the date – how......
