Normal Eating is being able to eat when you are hungry and continue eating until you are satisfied. Normal eating is being able to use some moderate constraint on your food selection to get the right food, but not being so restrictive that you miss out on pleasurable foods. Normal eating is giving yourself permission to eat sometimes because you are happy, sad or bored, or just because it feels good Normal eating is three meals a day, or it can be choosing to munch along. It is leaving some cookies on the plate because you know you can have some again tomorrow, or it is eating more now because they taste so wonderful when they are fresh. Normal eating is overeating at times: feeling stuffed and uncomfortable. It is also under-eating at times and wishing you had more. Normal eating is trusting your body to make up for your mistakes in eating. Normal eating takes up some of your time and attention, but keeps its place as only one important area of your life.
In short, normal eating is flexible. It varies in response to your emotions, your schedule, your hunger and your proximity to food.

...We need food to survive for the rest of our lives. We get out nutrition like vitamins and proteins, but not all foods are good for us. Some give us too much fat, cholesterol or sugar. If we don’t control what we are eating, we can get into big trouble, because some nutritious foods also have things that are bad for our bodies, like too much fat and sugar. People need to be careful of what they are eating, otherwise they are going to regret it later. Poor eating habits can lead to high cholesterol, for the rest of their life. The only way you can control that is by taking drugs and carefully watching their diet. People with high cholesterol can’t ever eat any fatty foods like pizza or cheeseburgers. They also can’t eat any sweet foods like candy or cake. People with poor diets often put their children at risk. For example, my father has high cholesterol. According to CaringOnline (2010) eating disorders are serious emotional and physical problems that can have life-threatening consequences for females and men. They include extreme emotions, attitudes, and behaviors surrounding weight and food issues (Eating Disorders). People define eating disorders as problems with appetite or a teens desire to be thin and attractive, yet experts claim that eating disorders represent more than that (Yancey, 1999, p. 20). According to Yancey (1999), they are subconscious ways by which some teens cope with poor self-esteem, anxiety, anger and abuse. Those who develop them are focusing on weight and food because they have not learned more effective ways of solving problems and taking control of their lives (p. 20). There are three major types of Eating Disorders, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and Binge-eating disorder yet anorexia nervosa gets the most attention (Frissell, Harney, 1998, p. 20).
