Disadvantages of Plagiarism

... Disadvantages of plagiarising. According to the Collins Dictionary of the English language (Hanks, 1979), plagiarism is ‘the act of plagiarising’, which is ‘to steal ideas or passages from another’s work and present them as one’s own’. In other words plagiarism is the act of presenting another person’s work through essay, speech, write up or electronically. Intentionally or unintentionally reproducing merely copying, rewording, paraphrasing, adapting, work that was produced by another person(s) without proper acknowledgement in an attempt to gain academic benefit, merit or reward. Intentionally or nonchalantly allowing such reproduction to happen may also complement plagiarism. This core ethical issue needs addressing immediately. Educators will need to consider how students are interacting with information technology and how ethical these interactions are. Unprecedented and unparalleled access to information without consideration to its ownership or authenticity provides ongoing concerns for society. Conger and Loch put it very succinctly. "For every new technology, new situations arise." (Conger, Loch, 1996). Plagiarism is not only copying the words of another person, which can be avoided summarising the sentences, but also the use of words, ideas, data, organization and original thoughts of another person without acknowledging the individual and the most commonly used platform is the internet, Such activities can allow room to serious consequences,......

Disadvantages of Science

...ills concurrently come with its blessings. The problem of pollution is at top of the list in this concern. Our industries are producing chemicals for rapid industrial development but at the same time what the smoke they emit is highly poisonous for every kind of life. The water, which is used in chemical plants, is dangerous for us all. Chemicals refuse is another problem. Our global environment is going to become dangerous day by day. Scientists have diverted the attention of the people of the world towards the dangerous hole of ozone layer that prevents dangerous ultraviolet sun rays to come to the earth. The sound of factory machines is producing noise pollution, which is our hearing faculty. The advantages of science are less than disadvantages. The deadly weapons which have been developed with the help of modern scientific methods can finish this world of ours in an instant. The world has seen the examples of two Japanese cities. Biological weapons are more dangerous than atomic weapons; chemical weapons are even more deadly and lethal. The countries of the world are producing more for destruction than the construction. Millions of scientists are working for developing more deadly weapons. Missiles are produced in the cloth of seasonal rockets. In this age of progress and prosperity man has become a mechanical device. He works in fixed pattern; his movements are like mechanical man. This new era has produced in man, craftiness cunningness and inhumanity. He has to......

Fb & Cmg

...FB & CMG I am writing about what are considered to be 2 extremely lucrative stock buys. Facebook has stumped most analysts with its stupendous growth since its IPO in May 2012. Chipotle on the other hand is a stock which has also shown remarkable growth since its IPO in 2006, mainly due to its continuously increasing revenues and earnings. Facebook Facebook sold at $38 at the time of its IPO less than a year ago. Today the stock is selling at close to $68. On the outset FB looks like a stock that can do no wrong, but you need to keep in mind that stock did drop to a low of below $20 during September 2012. So it’s no surprise that FB is indeed volatile and has a beta of 2.01. Recently, FB made the huge acquisition of WhatsApp for a deal worth $19 billion, of which $16 billion is guaranteed in cash and stock. This is monetarily the biggest acquisition in the company’s history. However, there are concerns over various aspects of this deal. Firstly, WhatsApp isn’t widely used in countries like the USA, where mobile carriers are able to offer free messaging services to their customers. WhatsApp is most widely used in India, Brazil and Singapore. Secondly, WhatsApp is a service basically promises its users that it will not use any part of their data in suggesting ads. It is an ad-free platform. WhatsApp founder Jan Koum promised his customers that he will never sell their personal information to anyone. Now that he is on Facebook’s board of directors, all that may change....

...topics. Disadvantages: * Prevents students from developing good, handwriting, spelling, grammar skills etc. * In exams, students will need to use a pen and not being used to handwriting pieces of work may mean in the exam the students will suffer from writer's fatigue. * Actively writing notes has been shown to help some students learn. * Students may be more likely to read notes they have written themselves, rather than ones that have simply been written and printed off by someone else. * Significant periods of time spent on computers can lead to headaches, eyesight problems, repetitive strain injury etc. The following disadvantages gives a list of objectives that staff and facilitators may be required to deal with should problems occur throughout using the ICT equipment. • Cost • Training • Distractions • Reliability • Damage • Safety • Hacking • Resources (or lack of) As you can see I have already listed disadvantages of ICT in education and all seem costly. The initial equipment even though would be an investment and learning aid is expensive. After the initial cost there is the fact of training the staff/ facilitators to use the equipment correctly as bad usage can cause incorrect teaching to pupils. Also coming under cost is damage, as, if the equipment gets damages then the damage repair fees are required to get the equipment back up and running. Distractions such as the internet, computer games and email is also a big disadvantage. Dis......

In the first place I would like to speak about the affects of the technology in the work life, although it is certain the technology makes that our work becomes something easy and don't unite heavy task as everybody thinks, but the problem is the need to be able to use these means a preparation or inclusive an entire advanced study and in some cases the companies have opted to change the whole production system for you scheme which carry out the work of some more employees quickly, these employees they are replaced for these you scheme then when not possessing the study or preparation for the manipulation of these they cannot work generating this way unemployment which affects the families of this people. Disadvantages of Cloning

...Rashad Jones Period 5 5-19-11 Disadvantages of Cloning Some people might ask the question, what is cloning? Cloning is the creation of an organism that is an exact genetic copy of another. Some people have there reasons for believing that cloning is the right thing to do. Others have there reasons for believing that cloning should not be allowed. I am one of the people that believe cloning shouldn’t be allowed. There are a lot of good reasons why cloning should be allowed. However, the reasons why cloning should not be allowed are more important. Let’s get into more detail. One reason I disagree with cloning is the uncertainty of science technology. It has been said that science and technology cannot solve everything. Scientist cannot even promise that the results of cloning are controllable. Some people believe that human cloning should be banned because they have potential in damaging humans’ future. Also, the cloning of Dolly resulted in the death of many embryos and newborns before success was achieved. With human cloning, even if the human clone survived, it is not guaranteed that it would develop normally. Cloning could also be the cause of losing the diversity of genes. The diversity of genes comes from parents having different sets of genes. If two people have identical genes, it can weaken our power, which makes getting certain diseases easier. So if someone has a baby by a clone, it could possibly harm the clone. Cloning could also cause diseases......

Educational Disadvantage

...Educational Disadvantage Name: Institutional Advantage: Educational Disadvantage Equality in the Australian education system is something that is yet to be realized. The term equality is not in reference to gender but has been used in reference to socio-economic status of the students. Australia is first world nation. As such, one would be forgiven to assume that equality in the education system was long realized. It comes as a surprise that Australia has one of the largest disparities in academic performance. The disparity between the best performing students and the world performing lot is among the highest in the world (Australia, 2009). Research has established that in Australia, about 42% of all the students who enroll into institutions of higher learning are from well to do families (Australia, 2003). On the other hand, only about 15% of the students who enroll into institutions of higher learning (Australia, 2002). It is then clear that there is quite a high level of disparity in the Australian education system about socio-economic status. A fact that seeks to compound the gravity of the situation is that about 40% of all the indigenous students in Australia are unable to meet the mathematics and reading standards that have are expected of Australian students (Teese & Polesel, 2003). Such a situation necessitates the need for a discussion of this issue. If this situation is not addressed, it will culminate in a severe deterioration of the quality of the......

Advangev and Disadvantage

...propaganda to basically provide something to do when one is  Disadvantage of Media There are different types of disadvantage ------------------------------------------------- Structure[edit] A DA usually has four key elements. These four elements are not always necessary depending on the type of disadvantage run, and some are often combined into a single piece of evidence. A Unique Link card, for example, will include both a description of the status quo and the plan's effect on it. A traditional threshold DA, however, has a structure as follows: Uniqueness[edit] Uniqueness shows why the Impacts have not occurred yet or to a substantial extent and will uniquely occur with the adoption of either the Affirmative's plan or the Negative's counterplan. Example: If the negative team argues that the affirmative plan will result in nuclear proliferation, it would also argue that the status quo will avoid nuclear proliferation. If the Affirmative claims that nuclear proliferation is already occurring, the negative team could argue that adoption of the plan would result in a unique increase in nuclear proliferation. If the plan causes no net change in the rate of nuclear proliferation, the disadvantage is not unique to the plan, and therefore not relevant. External links[edit] For the disadvantage to have relevance in the round, the negative team must show that the affirmative plan causes the disadvantage that is claimed. If the DA stated that the plan takes......

Disadvantages of Monopoly

...Disadvantages 1. Exploitation of consumers- a monopoly market is best known for consumer exploitation. There are indeed no competing products and as a result the consumer gets a raw deal in terms of quantity, quality and pricing. The firm may find it easy to produce inferior or substandard goods if it wishes because t the end of the day they know very well that the items will be purchased as there are no competing products for the already available market. 2. Dissatisfied consumers- consumers get a raw deal from a monopoly market because quality will be compromised. Therefore it is not a wonder to see very dissatisfied consumers who often complain about the firm’s products 3. Higher prices- no competition in the market means absence of such things as price wars that may have benefited the consumer and as a result of this monopoly firms tend to charge higher prices on goods and services hence inconveniencing the buyer. 4. Price discrimination- monopoly firms are also sometimes known for practicing price discrimination where they charge different prices on the same product for different consumers. 5. Inferior goods and services- competition is minimal or totally absent and as such the monopoly firm may willingly produce inferior goods and services because after all they know the goods will not fail to sell. 1st Disadvantages of Monopoly – Lower quality at higher prices Companies having monopoly over a product are bound to take advantage of the fact that the consumers......

Disadvantage of Technology

... Disadvantages of technology Today, we can’t imagine ourselves without technological advances such as cars, microwaves, cell phones, computers, and televisions. However, technology won’t stop here, but develop further. As technology develops, there are not only advantages, but disadvantages from them. A few advantages of upgraded technology are that one can save time and money and life will be made easier as a result of not having to do all the hard labor. In contrast, the disadvantages of upgraded technology are that people will loose their jobs to machines that will do the work for them. In addition, machines and robots are too complex for most people to use. I personally would want a developed world with advanced technologies. The following are the reasons why I do want a more advanced world with advanced technologies. My major reason is because when you have advanced technologies, life is much easier as robots and machines would take over your daily life chores. For example, daily life chores might be serving your breakfast, cutting your lawn, or cleaning your room. With robots and machines doing one’s chores one has time to relax. Another reason is because unlike humans, robots and machines do not make mistakes when programmed correctly. They always accomplish tasks perfectly so you won’t have to worry about making a mistake and getting trouble. Other reasons why I want advanced technologies are because they save a great deal of time and money. For example, if you are...

But when we look at the backside of the latest technology, we find that we have made these technology for our destruction if wrongly used by wrong people. If people of the world use these technology in a right way, we all are going to be benefited out of it ,but if the motive of a human being is not positive, he can enter into your extreme privacy by misusing the techno logy and hiding it in the camera to encash it for money when time comes for him. The Disadvantages of Globalization

...The disadvantages of globalization 1. “The general complaint about globalization is that it has made the rich richer while making the non-rich poorer. It is wonderful for managers and investors, but hell on workers and nature.”1 2. Multinational corporations are accused of social injustice, unfair working conditions (including slave labor wages and poor living and working conditions), as well as a lack of concern for the environment, mismanagement of natural resources, and ecological damage. 3. Multinational corporations which were previously restricted to commercial activities are increasingly influencing political decisions. Many think there is a threat of corporations ruling the world because they are gaining power due to globalization. 4. Opponents say globalization makes it easier for rich companies to act with less accountability. They also claim that countries’ individual cultures are becoming overpowered by Americanization. 5. Anti-globalists also claim that globalization is not working for the majority of the world. During the most recent period of rapid growth in global trade and investment, 1960 to 1998, inequality worsened both internationally and within countries. The UN Development Program reports that the richest 20 percent of the world's population consume 86 percent of the world's resources, while the poorest 80 percent consume just 14 percent. 6. Some experts think that globalization is also leading to the incursion of communicable diseases. Deadly......
