Creativity
Creativity is essential to the process of design and innovation. Any idea thought of is just one of many until creativity is applied, making that idea unique. Creativity is associated with critical thinking, brainstorming, and even the cognitive process which involves recognition, reason, and understanding. Creativity can happen in a number of ways; rather it is taught, encouraged, or an act of random causality.

Innovation
Innovation is mainly defined as the act of creative thinking. Innovation is developing an idea, taking it from the mind and turning it into a physical form of a process, system, product, or service. Innovation is a new found way to solve a problem. In an organization, innovation can be used in many ways. Rather its upgrade a systematic way of processing or coming up with a new product to sell, innovation has been used to bring it all together. When thinking of innovation, there are two components to consider, one being creativity (as previously explained), and the other is implementation. Implementation is mainly turning ideas into process. Coming up with an idea, developing that idea, and then commercializing that idea are all processes that falls under implementation.
Design
Design is the process of which creativity is transformed through innovation into its physical form. Design deals with everyday things and makes them better. In designing, one would explore solutions, compare alternatives, and decide on the best course of action. It involves a lot of research and sometimes, even experimentation.

...Innovation, Design, and Creativity Eric Johnson OI/361 February 13, 2013 Prof. Godwin Quashigah Innovation, design, and creativity are interdependent terms that conceptualize the meaning of implementation and the formation of unique thought. Defining innovation, design, and creativity helps to better understand the impact they have upon business development. An organization can substantially benefit by hiring individuals who can be innovative, creative, and design-oriented because these qualities collectively generate a competitive edge. Highlighting the business implications of innovation, design, and creativity and comparing and contrasting these terms allows a better understanding to factors that contribute to a successful business. Innovation is the formation, development, and implementation of a novel product, process, or service in which the goal exceeds current standards and improves effectiveness and efficiency giving way to a competitive advantage (Innovation, 2010a). In addition, innovation embraces the introduction of something new in spite of qualifiers concerning how groundbreaking or earth shattering such needs to be, only that the new idea or process is better than it was before. Design is the process of creatively transforming a thought process into a tangible, successful manner of operating a product or service. Creativity is a frame of mind that......

Innovation and Creativity

...CREATIVITY and INNOVATION “My worthiness is all my doubt –  His merit – all my fear –  Contrasting which my quality does however – appear.” - APJ Abdul Kalam Creativity is necessary for Innovation. Innovativeness is made, not born. Creativity can be inborn or comes in sparks .Creativity is the prerequisite for Innovation. In an essay on Creativity Teresa Amabile and others describe innovation as “the successful implementation of creative ideas within the an organization”Creativity which includes invention is the starting point of innovation , a necessary but not sufficient condition of it. we can never segregate the two terms and it goes hand in hand creativity and innovation are like sparks of the same thunder or lightning-if the fire of creativity is taken up it is innovation, and sometimes the same fire can even destroy the existing creative ideas taking up new ones. According to political scientist and economist Schumpeter(who lived from 1883 to 1950) he says that waves of innovation crash down on established enterprise, washing them away and leaving new ones in their place, seems particularly appropriate. Objectives of the study: 1.Mapping the definitions of innovation and creativity 2.Concept development methods through creativity. 3.Analysis of correlation of creativity and innnovation Business Model This is the sense of innovation in the broader context of companies and markets. Innovation’s meaning here is to alter the landscape.”Ray Meads”: A......

...Innovation, design, and Creativity Gonzalo Martinez OI/361 February 24,2014 Alfredo Rodriguez Innovation, design, and Creativity Either through television, internet, new papers or magazine, media is on a constant campaign with new and improved ways of accomplishing a task, whether it be making toast or losing weight, words like Innovation, Design, and Creativity, are constantly placed in front of consumers in the attempt of sell an idea or product. This paper will make an attempt to present an argument that the three, although many times used interchangeably, and usually need to be used concurrently, are not the same. Innovation at it defined by Webster online Dictionary “a new idea, devise or method; the act or processing a new idea devise or method” Merriam-Webster Dictionary. (June 2011). Google has taken the act of looking for information and complete let transformed it. Back in the day of the encyclopedia, if a salesman skipped a home for a sale, information was only readily available at the public libraries; making Google, very innovative when it comes information gathering. Google changed the way search happens. Type in any topic on the Google search bar and even if it is spelled wrong, it gets corrected and the right search happens. Creativity on the other hand although a large part of the innovation process, creativity is also a process on its own. ...Innovation, Creativity, and Design Jerry Vaval Prof. Dr. Milena Loubeau Week 1 Being an employee of a very large and historical organization practicing innovation is something I focus on to make a difference in my organization. This paper will briefly define, compare, and contrast innovation, creativity, and design. On the "Merriam-Webster" (2014) website one of the definitions for innovation is “the act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or methods”. Webster defines design as “to plan and make something for specific use or purpose”. Creativity is defined as “the ability to create” according to Webster. Often time’s innovation and creativity are used in similar reference to each other because they both introduce change to a particular situation. The introduction of change makes innovation and creativity similar but they are essentially different, innovation leads to new ideas usually to solve an ongoing problem and or improve a situation or organization. Creativity is different from innovation because it takes that initial idea and finds a way to implement the new idea to make it successful. Design brings innovation and creativity together and serves many purposes in the innovation process. Design is an important strategic tool which can be used to bring different people with different mindsets to a common ground. Stamm stated “Design is the conscious decision-making process by which information (an idea) is transformed into an outcome, be it tangible......

Innovation, Creativity, and Design

...Innovation, Creativity and Design Goals and objectives are important to a successful strategy of any business. Innovation, creativity, and design are tools that enable us to build an idea or product able to generate income for an organization. Understanding which attribute is most important is difficult without first defining each one to realize how they interact with one another. Definitions “Creativity is the act of generating an idea and is done by an individual, not a team,” (Von Stamm, 2008). In addition to this understanding, Von Stamm further states, “Creativity alone, to come up with ideas, is not enough. In order to reap the benefits, one needs to do something with it” (p. 3). Innovation is left described as creativity plus the successful execution in the marketplace of the idea. Govindarajan (2010) takes that definition even further by stating, “Innovation is creativity multiplied by execution. Multiplication is used rather than sum because, if either creativity or execution has a score of zero, then the capacity for innovation is zero” (para. 2). When defining innovation, one could use Von Stamm’s description or Govidarajan’s account; either way creativity clearly comes first. It is becoming clear, however, that creativity is useless without the innovation to bring the idea to life. The third attribute is design, which simply put, is the process used to execute the original idea. This basic level of understanding of the three attributes is important to the......

Creativity and Innovation

...Then I got a perfect answer about the puzzling question; there is a difference between creativity and innovation. People could always be creative, not everyone are able to translate the creativity to a notable innovation. The academic definition is more than words for me, making me knew myself much better. I am definitely a creative person, lots of fantastic ideas are living in my head, but that’s not enough, I also need to explore them deeper with my observation, knowledge, perception, experience, much more than just a active brain. In summary, knowing yourself is creative seems not that important when compared with whether you could really do something. But it’s like a confidence base, no building could be completed without a base on the ground. I feel lucky to recognize this and passionate to achieve things with my creativity. Environment is obviously important when we want to finish a building, mission could never be completed in a swamp. Similar to that, whether an good idea could be implemented or not is closely related to the company culture. Company culture is invisible, you could never tell what it looks like or touch it by hand, but it just exists every in the company. Actually, culture includes the organization's vision, values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits. It can be observed by the behavior of employees, the relationship between colleagues , the attitudes of superiors to junior staff, etc. The video in class about Pixar......

For a company to successfully launch the next “big thing” it must be able to engender creativity, support innovation, and engage in important design work. This is not easy because all of these things, creativity, innovation, and design mean that change must be embraced and most people and organizations do not look forward to change (Sherman, 2010). Change is the essence of innovation, creativity, and design because all three begin with the premise that something can be done better or more easily and to do anything better or more easily necessarily involves introducing a form of change to a process, product, or service.
