Concept Reflection
The first step to budgeting for unforeseen changes and improvements in information technology that require large capital outlays is to appropriately plan for such an event. Healthcare facilities need to transition from the mentality that IT upgrades are merely something that need to be squeezed into the budget somehow, and actually create a meaningful plan that will transition IT from an “as needed” task to an ongoing process (Shimamoto, 2012). The second step would be to identify what management’s goals are in order to align their IT strategy with their business strategy. This will help in determining if an IT change is a good investment decision (Shimamoto, 2012). Aside from liquidating some of the hospital’s assets, it would benefit the business to confront unforeseen expenses before they actually happen. Grow budget items help to introduce new projects into the facility or improve upon existing ones (Shimamoto, 2012). Grow initiatives can include the implementation of new software in order to make daily operations run more efficiently, the purchase of firewalls to help safeguard important patient information, or other items that help the facility better interact or communicate with their patients (Shimamoto, 2012). The great thing about grow initiatives is that there is no running clock on them in that they are not meant to be completed by a specific point in time. These initiative are flexible in that they can be implemented at any convenient time such as when there is money available and postponed when there is a shortage in capital (Shimamoto, 2012). This way the business will not have to sell any assets or cut funding from other projects or departments with the simple adjustment of early planning.

In this approach to education, students are only able to listen to the teacher and memorize what teacher says, including facts, formulas, disciplines, etc. They do what the teacher requires, without question. In this relationship, students and teachers are not equal. The teacher is the person who dominates the entire class and has absolute authority. ...Reflection Paper One Advanced practice nursing (APN) can be loosely defined as an area of nursing in which nurses are required to practice at an advanced level in a specific area of interest. APN extends the boundaries of nursing’s scope of practice and contributes to nursing knowledge, and the development of the profession (Canadian Nurses Association, 2008). In order to become an APN, the nurse must obtain a master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited university in an area of concentration designated for advanced practice nursing. ..." REFLECTION As I take this time to reflect on my accomplishments during this course, the one area that stands out the most for me is mixed numbers. Through this course I was re-introduced to just how much mixed numbers is a prevalent part of everyday life. Now I take notice of the key areas within my own life that I use mixed numbers, like cooking for my family of four (4); banking transactions and even the time when I am called to be the home handy person. The two (2) concepts that I have struggled with to date are prime numbers and factorizations. Even though I have studied and practiced these concepts regularly, I still struggle with just how to solve the equations. For the most part just when I think I understand, a new twist is presented and I am right back where I started. I am not sure what the barriers are but I will keep working through the challenges. In fact, subject matter experts agree that the tasks that are usually assigned to self-managed teams enhance intrinsic motivation by encouraging the team members to utilize a variety of skills in order to complete the entire assigned task. ...Smith Video Reflection James A.K. Smith is presenting contents of his book with several topics to the audience—worship, worldview, and cultural formation. He presents the point of if the assumption of religion was based on how it is practiced and preceded by its worship. Misinterpretations of religion can cause it to be ignored sometimes because practices can cause it to blend and allow it to happen in the least expected places. Worship is another concept that can go unseen. Smith illustrates an example about anthropologists from Mars coming to Earth to understand people’s religious behavior, and how in order to grasp how to worship you observe people around you. I demonstrate how practice anxiety, as a student nurse, can be dealt with through effective mentoring. ...Team A - Weekly Reflection Weekly Reflection This week in our class discussions, one topic in particular that is important is discrimination and how it is used in hiring practices. Because of legislation that has been passed, companies are now required to follow hiring practices that are supposed to eliminate most discrimination. However, even though companies are required to not discriminate it still does take place. When posting a new job announcement, some companies will manipulate the wording in the announcement so that only a specific individual can qualify for that job. As long as there is no mention of specific discrimination in the announcement, this is one way around the discrimination laws for hiring. Because of the internet and information being solicited employers can find out any information about a potential candidate without even speaking to him or her. Employers can find out about race, gender, religion, national origin, and color by clicking a button on a computer.
