...Essentials of College Writing Team PAPER Good Resource COMM 215 Essentials of College Writing What is a Good Resource? A good resource is defined by three major characteristics. The first must be comparative to the subject. In order for the resource to offer information on the issue, the facts acquired must relate to the subject and provide dear understanding for the paper. Another important aspect is the value of credibility. The researcher must certify the resource is endorsed and encompasses trustworthy information, as it will decide the result of the undertaking. The third point correlates to the currency of the resource. The evidence attained must be reasonably current to make certain the resource is still worthwhile and reliable with the timetable of the plan. Out-of-date information drastically can change the course and conclusion of any assignment. For Team B we have broken down our resources into these three areas: Reducing domestic labor costs: a producer can save about 80-85% of straight employee expenses relocating to Vietnam, and about 40-45% of the same expenditures in Brazil. Labor expenses are usually about 30% of the overall costs, for commodities fabricated in the United States. This savings on labor will be able to save a maker 24-26% of entire fabrication cost in Vietnam, and about 12-14% in Brazil (Blackerby, 2003). Outsourcing jobs overseas: Off- shoring or on shoring, bringing in cheap labor, corporations have declared war on the American......

...Essentials of College Writing Case Analysis COMM 215 Essentials of College Writing Case Analysis In this case study analysis of Carl Robins a number of problems related with the recruiting process transpired. To obtain a clear understanding of what went wrong and the best way to solve these problems, a case study analysis is the most effective method to identify and recommend ways to improve this process for recruiting new trainees for ABC, Inc. Carl’s mishaps were caused by a lack of organization, planning, and scheduling, and there is a good chance the training will not be able to happen as currently scheduled. Furthermore, ABC Inc., made the incorrect assessment by appointing Carl Robins to the job of enlisting new hires. Carl had this position for only six months and was put on his own. He should have known that he needed to put more preparation and on-the-job training into this job. A recruiter is accountable for the course of action of hiring, induction, medical screenings, and record filing to complete the hiring in many companies. With two to three weeks until orientation is to start, Carl has too much going on. To see how this started go back to early April when; Carl Robins was hired for ABC, Inc., to recruit new hires for the company. He had enormous strides in his efforts, despite employment at his new job for only six months. Robins hired 15 new trainees for Ms. Carrolls in the operations department and ensured her everything would be taken care of.......

Abstract Fossil fuels have been a primary fuel source for the industrial world, for centuries. Fossil fuel costs have been at all-time high and the economy is being burdened with the cost of everyday commuting and traveling expenses. Consumers have been looking for new ways to reduce cost by looking into other means of transportation. In an effort to bring down the gasoline cost for his fleet, Lotus Car's Chief Financial Officer is looking at the possibility of adding alternative fuel vehicles to its fleet. Types of Alternative Fuel Vehicles: Today, there is numerous alternative fuel vehicles developed and being developed to compete with fossil fuel usage. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, more than a dozen alternative fuels are in production or under development for the use in alternative fuel vehicles and advanced technology vehicles. ...Case Study Analysis for ABC, Inc. COMM/215 UOP January 9, 2012 Korijna Valenti Introduction During my reach into the hiring issues at ABC Inc., it was found necessary to research and read more in today’s hiring process with the current job market. The following is an introduction of one specific company that recently requested a case study of a current internal hiring process that took place or did not take place. In this situation, a new campus recruiter was expecting to bring on 15 new hires to complete for orientation to work in the Operations department. When the operations supervisor contacted the new recruiter and checked on the status of the recruiting process, they were assured that all requirements would be in place. The recruiter went to finalize the necessary paper work that would typically be in place for new hire orientation, only to discover that there was not a defined process or checklist. Background Because Carl (the recruiter) was new to ABC Inc., he was under the impression there should be a plan of action defined for how to complete a new hire. With this, Carl should have first noticed a lack of organization in which there should be a process flow to take him from requisition, to recruitment and the matching up a candidate with the job opening. When he pulled out the new trainee’s files, it was discovered that some of the files did not have completed applications or transcripts and none of the trainees had been sent for a......

...Persuasive Essay: Young Boys Should Be Involved In Little League Activities (Baseball) COMM/215: Essentials of College English Mrs. Barbara Pleasant, PhD. April 29, 2004 Young Boys Should Be Involved In Little League Activities (Baseball) Young boys should be involved in league sports. Baseball is just one of the sports that little league offers. “Little League Baseball was founded in 1939 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania by Carl Stotz as a baseball program for boys. Little League Baseball is the largest organized youth sports program in the world with 2,900,000 participants on 193,000 teams in 91 countries” (Little League Baseball History). Many professional baseball players started out as a little leaguer in their community. This is where their dream started. Involving young boys in little league baseball would keep the child busy, help the child learn different skills, and help kids that come from single parent homes. Involving young boys in little league baseball would keep them busy in their spare time. Every week the coach schedules practice on different days. This allows the child to prepare for game day. If the parent mentions to the coach that the child is having problems in school, most coaches will tutor the child during practice. If that is more than half the team, then they may even have study time instead of baseball practice. Education is the key to success and it comes first. On game day the child will be ready to show the new skills......

...Revised Case Study Analyst Paper James Demencius COMM/215 June 23rd, 2014 Mrs. Oleah Morris Leave No Man Behind Even though The United States should not make deals with Terrorists, All Service Members from Wars and Conflicts deserve to and should be brought back to the United States. Services Members should never be left and forgotten in foreign countries; because they preserve our freedom so we should do whatever is possible in preserve theirs when they are captured. All Service Members captured or detained during times of War and Conflicts should be repatriated back to the United States as soon as the War or Conflict has been completed or when an exchange can be completed by both Governments. During past wars the United States has participated in Prisoner exchanges. Thirty Americans were among the 100 prisoners exchange between North Korea and the United Nations in 1953 (BBC Home, 2005). In 1973 the United States and Vietnam conducted a prisoner exchange of 142 men. (Sterba, 1973). If these practices were used in the past then why are they not acceptable in today’s society? There are a lot of things that we can say that we do not agree with what our President has done and not done, but this is one thing that he did correctly; freeing our Prisoner of War from rebel forces. I agree Congress was not aware of what was going to happen and they did not have a say so in the exchange but this has happen before with other Presidents as well. Whether or not if there......

...COMM/215 CASE STUDY FOR STUDENT ANALYSIS There were two issues with Carl Robins, the new campus recruiter that ABC hired to help with hiring new trainees. One is lack of training, and the other is a lack of communication within the company. These are a couple of critical steps to having an excellent on-boarding process with a new employee. It is critical to not only the success of the new employee but for the company as well. The way a company trains and communicates the needs of the company to its new employee indicates the value they put in the individual that the company hired. If a company does not have an established training program and clear and open lines of communication with the trainees it puts less value in the trainee, and furthermore less value in the company. Background Carl Robins was hired for ABC, Inc to recruit new hires for the company. Successful in his efforts, Robins hired 15 new trainees for Monica in the operations department. However Robins was unsuccessful in getting the new employees the orientation schedule according to plan, due to lack of communication and lack of training for Carl’s position. Key Problems Several things happened that led to Carl’s performance leading up to his failure in not getting the new hires to the necessary training to start for the company. Before Carl went out and started recruiting these individuals he did not have a plan in place for when he met his goal of recruiting 15 new people for the company.......
