An auto title, also known as a "pink slip," is a legal certificate of ownership issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Among other information, it lists the current owner's name and address, the make, model and year of the vehicle, and the first date sold.
An auto title is a very important document that is often kept in a safety deposit box or other secure location. When selling a vehicle, the auto title must be signed over by the seller. The buyer then takes the title to the DMV to register the car in his or her name. A fresh auto title is prepared by the DMV and mailed to the new owner, listing the buyer as the current owner. When that buyer wishes to sell the car, he/she must go through the same process of signing the auto title over. In addition to the owner or lien holder, the auto title also lists the vehicle identification number (VIN). This is a unique number that appears on a steel strip on the dash of the vehicle, inside the driver's door jam, or in the engine compartment. When purchasing a car from a dealership or private party, be sure to check that the VIN on the vehicle matches that on the auto title.
The auto title also lists mileage at the last date of sale. This allows consumers to perform a cursory check to see if the odometer or mileage indicator on the car seems reasonable given the time that has passed since the auto title was generated. For example, if the title shows that the car had 65,020 miles on it two years ago, and the vehicle's odometer currently reads less than that, this is a red flag. The auto title also includes the word "salvage" if the vehicle was in an auto accident that the insurance company claimed was a total loss. In this case the car was "junked," then subsequently bought from the junk dealer by a third party to be repaired and resold. When this is done legally, the auto title shows it as a salvaged vehicle.…...

...Client Alert Global Mining and Metals Industry Group April 2013 Glencore’s Long March to Take Over Xstrata First published in Mining Journal, April 2013 At long last, Glencore has overcome the final regulatory hurdle and secured the approval of China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) to acquire the 66 percent of Xstrata that it does not already own. But not before agreeing to part with one of the prized assets in Xstrata’s portfolio, the Las Bambas copper project in Peru. If no suitable buyer for Las Bambas is found by September 2014, Glencore will have to auction off one of its other copper assets of MOFCOM’s choosing. To clinch MOFCOM’s blessing of the deal Glencore also committed to continue offering longterm supply arrangements to sell copper concentrate to Chinese customers, as well as somewhat less stringent supply commitments on zinc and lead concentrates. It has been a long road for Glencore and Xstrata who announced their plan to combine in February last year. They have had to navigate the merger review processes in several major jurisdictions, which can frustrate the most patient of company executives. Glencore’s acquisition of Xstrata will unite one of the world’s largest producers and traders of commodities and one of the largest mining companies globally – but at what price? It was no surprise that competition authorities in those countries and regions most affected would closely scrutinize the deal. The transaction had to be approved by merger control......

...With the progress of science and technology, the cars have already become an important part in our daily life. It is known as a vehicle with four wheels and it contains an engine and that is used to move from one place to another smoothly and quickly. The cars are one of many very useful transportation methods; it gives the freedom to travel to anywhere and on anytime. In this essay I will compare and contrast this transportation method between the past generation and the present generation. This essay will focus on three key areas – engine, safety and technology. The first area that this essay will consider is about cars engine, the most importance thing in the car is the engine which it is the thing that makes the car move. In the past, the people were just wanted a car to reach them from point A to point B, so the car engine was so simple. For instance, the mechanical engineer Karl Benz created the first car engine which it called (Benz’s engine), the automobile was motorized by a 0.75-hp one-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine. Furthermore, the speed of car was just 16 km/h (10 mph) (1). Besides, it was not need a lot of energy and it caused lots of pollution. With the technological advances; in current generation the car’s engine is working the basic principle like in the past by air and fuel combustion to create a rotational force and move the car, but the modern cars engine has become more developed. Where it is characterized by more reliable, more efficient and......

Yet the grip test situation was much more personal and represented success in an area I normally don't pay attention to. Plus I learned two things. One: I can pride myself on the smallest triviality. Two: I'm glad we don't measure strength in our gym classes with the bench press. Harvard, Leadership through dedication To me, leadership does not necessarily mean accumulating as many titles as possible in school activities; I feel one leads through his dedication, actions, and contributions. I have always tried to lead in almost everything I set out to do. I feel I have been successful at that. Superficially, I have earned such titles as president of the National Honor Society chapter at my school, Editor-in-Chief, columnist, Investigative Editor, and Editorial Editor of the school newspaper, senior varsity leader in debate, and a Class Representative for Student Council. However, those titles don't begin to tell the story of my abilities as a leader. They don't reveal how I volunteered to help out at a handicapped lock-in at an unfamiliar youth center when no one else wanted to, they don't reveal how I always sought to be on time for work and to avoid boondoggling, they don't reveal how I aided younger debaters with their argumentation so they can have the same success I was lucky enough to enjoy, they don't reveal how I became a role model for the JETS squad by studying......

...Breaking Into Cars—Stephen I had never broken into a car before. We were in Laredo, having just finished our first day at a Habitat for Humanity work site. The Hotchkiss volunteers had already left, off to enjoy some Texas BBQ, leaving me behind with the college kids to clean up. Not until we were stranded did we realize we were locked out of the van. Someone picked a coat hanger out of the dumpster, handed it to me, and took a few steps back. “Can you do that thing with a coat hanger to unlock it?” “Why me?” I thought. More out of amusement than optimism, I gave it a try. I slid the hanger into the window’s seal like I’d seen on crime shows, and spent a few minutes jiggling the apparatus around the inside of the frame. Suddenly, two things simultaneously clicked. One was the lock on the door. (I actually succeeded in springing it.) The other was the realization that I’d been in this type of situation before. In fact, I’d been born into this type of situation. My upbringing has numbed me to unpredictability and chaos. With a family of seven, my home was loud, messy, and spottily supervised. My siblings arguing, the dog barking, the phone ringing—all meant my house was functioning normally. My Dad, a retired Navy pilot, was away half the time. When he was home, he had a parenting style something like a drill sergeant. At the age of nine, I learned how to clear burning oil from the surface of water. My Dad considered this a critical life skill—you know, in case my......

...brand-new construction site in New Delhi, India. The construction of this plant, which only builds Stark models, was started in April 2004 and became operational at the end of 2006. The final aim is to manufacture some 200,000 cars per year. This is the first large Stark plant on India soil. It is the definitive link of the brand with our continent, building pickup trucks according to the highest India quality standards. This new production unit will not only set the tone with new standards on efficiency and productivity, but will consequently also respect the strictest environmental standards in the Asia Union. Since quality is a top priority for Stark, 1 in every 15 employees is responsible for quality control. The New Delhi currently employs 1,200 of the very best specialists in pick-up truck assembly. Exporting Decision While Stark enjoyed a relative dearth of competition in its core domestic market, it also launched an aggressive and successful export campaign during the 1980s that penetrated Japan and Europe, among other regions. By the mid-1980s Stark was selling about 300,000 pickup trucks annually, still mostly in South Korea. A major breakthrough for Stark occurred, however, when it started shipping automobiles to one of the largest international car market, Africa. Stark reached an agreement to supply Nivan with its KL1500 model. The KL1500  was a “micro pickup” aimed at the low-end buyer. Stark planned to ship about 70,000 units annually for Nivan and a like......
