Candice lived in Westphalia, in the castle of Monsieur the Baron Von Thunder-ten-tronckh. The older servants of the castle believed that he was the son of the Barons sister, because his mother refused to marry his father because his family tree couldn’t be traced. The Baron was the most powerful lord of Westphalia, where everyone laughed at his jokes and called him “Your Grace”. One night after dinner as everyone was leaving, Candice and Cunegonde found themselves behind a screen exchanging a kiss only for the Baron to be walking by at that very time to chase Candice out of the castle while kicking him in the behind. Candice is later forced into the army of Bulgars, and decided to talk a walk from camp and is later said to be a deserter. In Holland he ran into a nice Christian girl who took him in. While there Candice runs into his old tutor Pangloss who tells him that he had gotten syphilis from Cunegonde and that her entire family had been brutally killed by the Bulgar army. The Christian girl Jacques takes Pangloss in as well, and they all travel to Lisbon together only for their ship to be caught in a storm and Jacques drowns. Later, Candice finds Pangloss and the Baron in a Turkish chain gang, which made it apparent that they had both survived their apparent deaths. After arriving in Turkey, Pangloss remains an optimist, Candice goes to find Cunegonde only to find she had grown old and ugly, but he didn’t care and bought her freedom as well as his own. Candice and his friends decide to take all their time and effort and put it into working, which in the ends makes everyone happy and fulfilled. While walking with Jacques, they came across what they believed to be a beggar, covered in wounds; his eyes were glazed over, black teeth, and had a raspy tangled voice. As Candice got closer to this creature, he heard the mans voice and the words, “So you…...

The Emergency Room

...Candice Forbes AC1209736 EN120 English Composition I Assignment 2 – Topic #13 A Public Place January 27, 2013 The Emergency Room It’s 6:15 P.M; I check my watch as I rushed into George Town Hospital’s busy emergency room. On the outside there was an ambulance roaring in with flashing lights and sirens, while a group of people gathered apparently awaiting that same ambulance. To the left the security guard was yelling at an illegally parked motorist in a yellow, convertible sports car; consequently blocking the path of the ambulance. On the inside on the left, the triage nurse peeped out the glass window at her desk to scan the crowd awaiting the doctor across from her. Behind her you could hear a large commotion of people making an awful racket about a patient in code blue. Nevertheless, the triage nurse calmly calls the name of my daughter and I go into her small box office. She checks my blood pressure and weight, yet she continues to ask a series of questions. Because my temperature is so high, the nurse rushes me into the back room. While in back the calamity continues. Gurneys with patients are being hurried around the room with shocking momentum and alertness; however, the doctors’ dash past one another with nurses quickly following behind their every step. Finally the doctor comes to see me and diagnoses me with a weird sounding virus. He recommends bed rest, fluids and antiviral meds. I glance at my watch before heading out; it’s only 6:45......

...between her legs. Joey, not knowing any better, told him he would do it that weekend. Two days later, Joey found the perfect opportunity to complete his quest to become a man when his sister’s friend slept over. Let’s call her Candice. Joey stayed up to the wee hours of the night to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. Finally, he took his chance at 3:11 in the morning and snuck into his sister’s room. He crept towards Candice, who luckily was sprawled across the ground on top of her sleeping bag. Joey, not realizing the weirdness of the situation, peered over Candice as she laid completely naked on the ground. Without hesitation, Joey threw a mean uppercut into her vagina. Candice miraculously did not wake from this forceful event, Joey feeling high and mighty, removed his now dripping wet fist from her vagina and left the room. From then on, every time Candice would sleep over at their residence, Joey would uppercut her vagina with joy, even to this very day. However, as each sleepover went by, Joey’s fist grew bigger and bigger as he got older. Now Joey can only enjoy sticking his four fingers inside Candice on sleepover nights, thus explaining why he is called fingers. Only years later after becoming a man, did Joey realize the reasons as to why Candice was naked and why she didn’t wake up. Every time she would sleep over, her and Joey’s sister would consume massive amounts of alcohols and they were lesbians....

...one lady, named Candice, who loved to chew gum. She would walk the call center and forget she wasn’t at home and pop the gum. Instead of doing right thing and pulling the employee to the side to tell her that popping gum in the workplace is unprofessional, she called them all into a meeting and starting imitating the way she walked and popped gum. Then she called her a hussy. The employees were in disbelief and the lady she was talking about began to cry. Once the manager saw the lady cry, it was all she needed to make her guinea pig. She would do things like this to the woman daily. She even started targeting her friends. Other employees stopped talking to Candice in fear of being targeted by the manager. This basically left Candice in isolation. Candice had one friend that never left her side, though. After the hussy incident, her friend advised her to go to upper management. Candice was afraid to talk to upper management because the two managers hung out together and were good friends, but after months of suffering she finally talked to her manager’s boss, Latasha. Not being sure of what happened; Candice finally got some relief, but this to would be a temporary fix. The manager was upset and called another meeting. She told her employees that there was no use in going to her boss about her because her boss knows exactly what she does and she going to tell me anyway. Imagine how this made everyone feel. Hum 112 Voltaire’s Candide

...Assignment 1: Reading Selection: Voltaire’s Candide REDACTED Dr. Davis HUM 112 July 27, 2014 Introduction Francois-Marie Arouet was a Parisian philosopher. Using the pen name Voltaire, he wrote “plays, novels, poems, and history” (Sayre, 2012, p. 815). Being a pessimist provided him the creativeness to write his greatest work named Candide. Chapter 6: An Act of Faith There are two surprise endings. One surprise ending came when Dr. Pangloss was taken away for unknown reasons or was selected along with Candice at random. I’m presuming it was for speaking his optimistic opinions against local ideals. The other surprise ending came when another earthquake occurred approximately a week after human sacrifices had concluded. The point of realization came when Candice deliberated the outcome of why Pangloss was hanged however, he may have resigned to accepting it as the people of Lisbon being evil and ignorant. Candice had previously discovered “a world filled with stupidity, plagued by evil, mired in ignorance...” (Sayre, p. 817). Additionally, another earthquake happened just over a week later even though an auto-de-fe was carried out to prevent earthquakes. The author somewhat convinced me of the surprise ending. However, confining both men for crimes that were not similar to the Biscayan and two Portuguese prevented me from accepting the full value of the surprise ending. The chapter does not give an indication of the reason for Pangloss being hanged versus...

Garfield

...Book Review: Destiny of the Republic Hillary Harkins 9-26-14 If you stopped 10 random people off the street and asked them who James A. Garfield was, do you think they would know he was President of the United States? Garfield wasn’t like most of the presidents we have had in the past, he is in a category with very few, he didn’t really leave much of a rein behind him. It would have been hard to leave much of a history in the white house when he only served as President of the United States from March 4, 1881 - September 19, 1881. While reading "Destiny of the Republic” Candice Millard tells a story that not only shows the murder of Garfield but also shows the politics related to the murder and his medical history, that really was a shock and a secret to the public. A few things that really shocked me in this story was the fact that Garfield was born into Poverty in 1831. He grew up with out a father in a very rural part of Ohio. He only went to school till the age of 16 and left to go take part in a very dangerous line of work on the Canals. I think the reason this surprised me was because if you look back at most presidents we have had in the past most were educated and most came from decently well families. At the age of 26, he would take over the position of President of Williams Colleges, where in the past years he went and so impressed his teachers that by his second year at the school he would be moved up to assistant professor. He went from working in......

Case Study 3

...candidates are Mason Dupree, a Community Organizer or Candice Sharpe, a social worker with NCPIE. Mr. Dupree appears too focused on the problems rather than the solutions and Candice is already working on the solutions. It would be a good recommendation to select Candice for this role as she already wants to lead parents. If she were selected, she could educate parents to tutor their children and more closely monitor their behavior, extracurricular activities, and classwork. Lastly, unlike Mr. Dupree, Candice already has ties with NCPIE which works closely with the PTA. Action Planning: Once the team has been selected and the hierarchy has been established, a plan for conflict resolution and negotiation will need to be in place. Since Meredith Watson of The Woodson Foundation has most of the expertise in the program, she will serve as President while taking recommendations from the educational expertise of Victoria Adams and from Candice Sharpe whom is closely connected to the community’s and parents’ concerns. Meredith Watson will also be held most accountable for the success of the program. However, Victoria Adams will be responsible for the training of educators / tutors and Candice Sharpe will be responsible for working with the Parents and PTA for dealing with students at home. As conflicts arise, the issue will fall on the shoulders of the selected candidate related to that role. Parental conflicts handled by Candice while school board issue will be......

Contemporary Leadership Theories

...Contemporary Leadership Theories RECORDED ON Jun 02, 2014 SPEAKER Scott, Diane, Candice Shehorn Scott: Hey everyone, welcome to the podcast where we talk in detail about management and business principles that YOU need for success. Scott: And today we have a great discussion planned about leadership theories. Diane: That's right, and there are quite a few to dive into. Today there are four main views regarding leadership: leader-member exchange, charismatic-visionary leadership... Scott: And team leadership and transformational-transactional leadership. Diane: Now, it is important to realize at the outset that these are theories, and while they are the most widely accepted leadership theories today, that isn't necessarily a commentary on how good or effective one leadership theory is over another. Like anything else, a myriad of factors are in play that determine what sort of leadership theory will be the most effective in a given situation. Scott: And I think a prime example of that, Diane, would be the leader-member exchange, or LMX, theory. This is a theory that anyone who has ever worked a day in their life has probably encountered at one point in time or another. This theory posits that leaders have two groups of people underneath them: in's and out's. It doesn't take a lot to figure out that, much like picking teams in kickball in grade school, we're talking about playing favorites. Diane: It is, but that isn't always a bad thing. While people who......

She works full-time (five days per week) at Bathurst Base Hospital in Bathurst. Candice needs to purchase a car to travel to and from work and to use on weekends. The car will be parked in her driveway in Orange each night and in the hospital car park while she is at work. Candice has saved $15 000 as a deposit, but will need to borrow the balance to purchase the car. She plans to use the car as security for the loan and to repay the loan by making equal monthly repayments over five years. Following some research, Candice has determined that she will buy either: • a used Mazda3 SP25 (2012 model) 4-cylinder, 2.5-litre, 5-speed automatic hatchback or • a used Hyundai Elantra Active Sports (2013 model) 4-cylinder, 1.8-litre, automatic.
