Their studies show that situations that make a child feel less than equal to his peers can have a major impact on their mental health as an adult. Studies also show that children suffering from self-esteem issues were ever one in four, and children living in financial hardship were one in three.

This article mentioned that vending machines were added to schools for financial benefits due to budget cuts. Studies have shown that this caused students to get into the habit of eating constantly. Children who get into the habit of eating constantly are more likely to become obese.

Due to the rise of obese children, there is also an increase in children with major health problems. Pediatric hypertension, hardening of the arteries, diabetes, liver disease, and breathing disorders are becoming common in today’s youth. Studies also show that children who attended schools where sodas where sold where more likely to be obese than children who attended schools who were not.

Me Me Me

...“The difficulty in life is the choice”, 1 100% agree with this quote George Moore indeed would have gotten a vote from me when it came to come true this actually is. To explain his quote in other words; he’s stating the hardships and difficultly in life can most likely be avoided , you step into it and enhance it more that’s where the difficulty comes in which in some many ways could have probably be avoided . The book “Twelve Angry Men” by Reginald Roses is definitely a prime example of chosen difficulty when in many ways it could have been avoided. The teenager in the book “Twelve Angry Men” was on trial for the manslaughter of his own father. In my opinion that teen was all the way guilty. But majority of the 12 jurors saw him as innocent. Some pledged his innocence by justifying the manslaughter by saying he was “ a product of his environment” , claiming the boy grew up in the slums , had it bad all his life , from the robbing’s to the car theft even the stabbing his was involved in with another teen. But let’s be real it wasn’t mandatory for this teen to do those things. In all reality that young boy did those wrong doing himself all by his lonesome. Of course probably his environment gave him ideas and the thoughts in his head, but let’s thinks did the environment put the knife in his hand and forced him to kill his father? No right, so why the environment is the one to blame when it came to this boy reasons for killing his own father? No one lead him down the path of...

Ask for a Collectible

...precious resources and saves costs. What is required? And when is it required?. In the mid-’90s, Microsoft IT used to run an HR application with a separate payroll solution that required substantial number of servers — servers that ran for only two days per month and sat idle the rest of the time. Frugal managers pointed this out, but the IT staff didn’t feel comfortable reusing the systems for other tasks. Given that everyone likes getting paid, the IT folks won every time. Today, this has changed. The first response is no longer, “Can we add another computer or data center?” Instead, the approach is, “Can we design it to use fewer resources?” To do that, fluctuations in capacity demands need to be well understood — that is, one needs to ask, “What is required when?” Design by seat of your pants (SOYP). Planning by SOYP is a sure way to introduce inefficiency into a system. Yet even major installations are often designed today using what is fundamentally guesswork based on past experience and vague capacity data. The combination of input factors generally leads to a solution design that is targeted at peak load plus n% [20% < n < 50%]. The same algorithm used to plan project timelines gets applied to capacity because nobody wants to be the one that messes up the project by underestimating. ‘Belt-and-Suspenders’ solution design approach. Early client/server books taught us to be over-cautious. Because our system solutions were not quite as robust as needed, we therefore......

Don't Afraid to Ask

...What I learned from this course is “don’t be afraid to ask”. I found this is a great technique when I utilized it for one of my project, it was a proposal to require the change of company managements. Before I starting to write my proposal I had been asking myself several times that “whether I should bring up the issues to my supervisor and requested for changes.” What if I bring up the idea to him and ask his opinion, he did like my idea because the project requires all departments to participate? On the other hand, I was concerned when he turn down my idea because he did not like me to point out the company issues and these are the issues that he had aware for a long time. When I learned about “don’t be afraid to ask” and “ask the question” in class, I decided to give it a try. I was a little uncertain when I walked in my supervisor’s office, but I remember Dr. Edward mentioned in class that “if you do not try it, you might never get the answer.” This helped me to build the confident when I was in my supervisor’s office, I started to ask the right questions and then layout my idea clearly to him. I was surprised he was interesting to see the change for the company and requested me to submit a proposal. Finally my proposal got approved. From this experience, I realized that sometime I need to try and “don’t be afraid to ask”; it’s true that I never get my answer if I don’t try to ask. However, when be sure to understand your...

Be Me.

...licked my head, takes control of my head from a distant, glass reflection. I finally make my way toward the cold, bare bathroom. Recovered, I find myself looking into the lifeless reflection to prepare for another unstable day. To start, I set my hands to find the light switch which seems to avoid me. Light glaring into my poor, unaware pupils, I set my hands in warm-filled water. I bring my face alongside the running, sincere water. After hydration, I attempt to clear out the cow-licked hair-do; I reach for my sturdy, black comb and combat the cow’s drool! With no avail, I soon give up. I place my index finger on the power button of the high-powered, blue electric-shaver and trim the fur that guards my face from fierce colds. Next, I prime my toothbrush with invigorating, peppermint toothpaste and smoothly graze each special tooth. I then enrich my essence with refined, colorful fragrances. Widely awake, I dash toward the fridge and explore its contents. A glass of cold milk and protein bars fill me. The cocoa aroma of the breakfast bars surrounds me. I adore the refreshingly, cold liquid and chocolaty sweetness of the bars. After finishing my feast, a text from a classmate notifies me to leave for school. Soon after leaving my house, I started my silver Cadillac then drove to pick up a classmate and head to class together. Finally, we arrive at school just to find no available parking. Irritated by no available space, I realize that I’m going to be late to class. I’m......

Its Me

...Evaluation What is the temperature change of the reaction between 5.00g NaCl and 50mL HCl? We performed this little experiment of ours to answer the above question, and find said temperature change. Sadly enough, our results didn’t make as much sense as we would have liked; our total temperature change was only at +25.3oC while our theoretical change was over twice that amount. Our systematic error came out to approximately 52.4%, and the random at 10.5%. As those bits of information would lead one to believe, our systematic error was the key factor here (rather than the random error). And, from that, we can deduce that our synthetic value is NOT an accurate representation because our systematic error outweighed our random error. If you were to ask one of us as to where all this error came from, we’d all easily agree that it was our own human error. For one thing, we neglected to record the temperature of the NaCl and HCl before the reaction began; while they should have been at room temperature, the change that occurred in the time between our adding the two components and our implementation of the temperature probe might have been highly significant. Along with that, we mis-handled the concept of catalyzing the reaction with a bit of motion; we did it too late and too hard. Looking back, things that we would change include, but are not limited to: The catalyzing of the reaction, the proper utilization of the temperature probe, the use of a graduated cylinder to measure......

The seminar was conducted in partnership with the City of Muntinlupa on 28 February at the Palaisdaan Hall, Navotas City. Mayor Tiangco further reminded the participants, mostly representatives from the 14 barangays and DRRM Office to listen, take note of significant information, and ask questions to ensure that they  learn about the details of what to expect in the event of occurrence of any of these expected hazards. Mayor Tiangco recognized the importance of repeating and disseminating these hazards information to their constituents in the barangay.  This is to ensure that communities are conscious to prepare for the different possible events. As what PHIVOLCS Deputy Director Bart Bautista discussed, preparedness is a very challenging process that needs strong commitment of the local leaders. Director Bautista also narrated how the five (5) national government agencies, Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and National Mapping Resources Information Agency (NAMRIA), Mines and Geoscience Bureau (MGB), Philippine Atmospheric,......

Go Ask Alice

...Go ask Alice September 29 Joel and I are officially a couple! Did you hear me? OFFICCIALY! I have never felt so good in my entire life, not even on my best trips! Last night he said so many fantastic, unbelievable things about me, and then he asked me, if I wanted to get together! I am out of my mind with joy, I can’t even put it into words. I have to get ready for school, but I will tell you everything about it later. I have to use extra time on my looks today. Oh I wonder, what I am going to wear. P.S. Fawn invited me to another party, I can’t wait! - Seems like every thing is turning out great! – Talk to you soon. October 7 When I came home from school today, mom was acting really strange. She was just sitting on a chair with a cup of tea staring out of the window. I tried to talk to her, but it seemed like, she couldn’t hear me. She just kept staring out of the window. Oh, I hope nothing is wrong with her, she is probably just heading towards her menopause and is feeling a little depressed. I will just ask dad later, I’m sure it’s nothing. Later So I asked dad about mom, and what I was sure of, only would be a short talk, ended out to be very long, with a lot of tears. Mom is apparently not menopauseing, as I hoped. Dad said, that she has been hocked up with other things, so she hasn’t had time to grieve over Gramp and Gramps. And even though dad tried to wrap it in and assure me, that it had nothing to do with me, I know that “other things” is equal me. I......

...to come ,but took me as a surprise. See derrick is very special; his is those kinds of guys you absolutely feel attached to because they are gentle and caring, and make up for amazing friend. However, he was not the only one there his “friends” arrived to. I decided to just ignore that and jump to the 3ft high colled water pool I felt a chilling sensation while I hit the bottom of the pool and out of the sudden I started to feel fresh, a little confused but more alive than ever. The pool just awoke this feeling of being reborn, though I was still myself. When I decided to get out up me chilling water was washing out my visage, and that’s when I caught eye of him, It was like being in a drought and suddenly felling the raindrops. He definitely looked differently, I wasn’t sure of what but it made smirk. We both made eyed contact , he for sure saw me the same way, he couldn’t stop smiling but what was I doying, really derrick he was just a friend, no, he definitely dint feel like a friend anymore there was something more to this. It felt exciting and I wanted to know more about this moving emotion. I decided to get out of the water and seek help, to the only girl I know is an expert on this kinds o f situations, Unabella. Me, Me Me

...In January 2008 a British journalist, Sarfraz Manzoor, wrote an article with the title “Me, Me, Me” that appeared in the magazine “Esquire”. He gives his opinion on how the phenomenon “New Narcissism” has its influences on today’s society through the Internet. And he leaves us with the impression that there is a reason to be worried about today's youth being more narcissistic than ever before. Narcissism is not new for us. New Narcissism is a modern version of the phenomenon narcissism. And it has been known since ancient Greece with the Greek myth about Narcissus that fell in love with his own reflection in the water. The man that got narcissism recognized as a medical condition was Sigmund Freud (l. 53). But in our age, the word, narcissism, does not seem that serious and is mostly defined as a phenomenon. This New Narcissism has come to life because society reproduces itself (l. 59). And growing numbers of people are more narcissistic according to a study performed by psychologists. Sarfraz Manzoor, who has written this article, describes that New Narcissism is the offspring of today’s society. He makes an example by including a person named Chris Crocker. Crocker became famous because he put a video on the Internet where he defended the celebrity Britney Spears. There can be two reasons for his behaviour. Is he doing this to tell people that they shall back off and because he is fond of her? Or is he doing this to get attention? But it does not seem as if Britney is......
