Why are books banned? Some are banned for being racist, although that’s part of the theme of the book. Others are banned for “encouragement” of unhealthy lifestyle. Some have “blasphemous” dialogue, including God or Jesus in their text in vain. Sometimes they’re banned for sexual content, which is quite simple. Books with negative connotations are also banned. They’re banned for presence of magic or witchcraft. Religious and political opinions are very prone to challenge as well. Anything that makes a book unnatural or have someone be offended is a reason a book could get banned.

...SYNOPSIS ON NEED OF GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING AT INTERMEDIATE LEVEL IN DISTRICT PESHAWAR By Malik Nouman Waris This report is being submitted to the Department of Secondary Education, Faculty of Education, Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad for partial fulfillment of the condition of the Master of Education [pic] M. Ed Research Academic Session 2011-2012 Department of Secondary Teacher Education, Faculty of Education Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, Pakistan Background: According to his definitions: “Guidance is nothing but to assist the individual to choose a vocation, to prepare for it, and to attain efficiency progress.” (Chuhan S. S, 2001) When an individual steps into the practical life, he has to face series of problems and inconveniences in various aspects of his life. There are his physical, emotional, mental and social problems. Guidance is just assisting the individual in various activities of his life—vocational, educational, mental and social. The individual is assisted in the lights of his inborn tendencies, natural potentialities and personal capacities. Actually Guidance is as old as the humanity itself. It existed from the time immemorial. Individual was born with innumerable problems. Even in the primitive and medieval society, the parents used to solve the problems of their children. With the simplicity of society the problems were simple, but now in a modern complex and technological......

Syrian Conflict

...My reaction to this article on the Syrian conflict and how the Asad regime will survive until 2013 is a mixed one. On one hand I believe that the regime will eventually be kicked out of power. On the other I believe that the regime could stay in power. The reason behind my thought on how the regime could stay in power is that Asad has a military stronger than the rebels within the country. But connecting to what's happening in Syria now the regime could be thrown out of power if the United Nations gets involved, the U.N would only get involved if the Syrian government uses chemical weapons. A reason I believe the regime could stay in power is the fact that the opposition to the government has a very weak leadership causing any real progress in a coup d' etat to be difficult. From my understanding the author of this article believes that the Asad regime will survive. The author makes very good points like the opposition being weak, Asad having a strong military, and the fact that the chances of the international community intervening are very low, I still don't believe that the regme will last. I also learned that changes in government in the Middle East have been happening since the end of WW2. Another thing that I have learned is that many of the conflicts in the Middle East have been fought over religious disputes. The author also states that because of poor economy the regime will be overthrown, but it should last until 2013. A final thing that I have learned is that......

Syria and U.S Relations

...opposition. Earlier in the conflict, U.S. officials and many analysts asserted that President Asad and his supporters would be forced from power, but had difficulty articulating how that outcome would take place within the timeframes they set forth. Recent developments suggest that both the opposition and the Asad regime face considerable challenges in their attempts to assert greater control over Syria. Increasingly, analysts have focused on the potential for the regime and its opponents to carve out strongholds and prolong the fighting. Rapid escalation or swift regime change could deal a decisive blow to actors seeking to advance goals contrary to U.S. interests, but it could also further jeopardize the security of chemical and conventional weapons stockpiles and/or lead to wider regional conflict. Opposition forces are formidable, but regime forces, backed by Hezbollah fighters and Iranian and Russian material support, have initiated successful tactical counteroffensives in some areas. The Syrian military continues to use air strikes, artillery, and pro-government militias in punishing attacks on areas where rebels operate. Some members of Syria’s Sunni Arab majority and of ethnic and sectarian minority groups—including the Alawite minority from which the Asad family hails—view the conflict in communal, zero-sum terms. U.S. officials believe that fighting would likely continue even if Asad were toppled. Amid extensive damage to major urban areas and reports attributing......

...Orientalist[show]OrientalismComparative religionTheosophical SocietyNondualism Asian[show]Proto-Indo-Iranian religionEnlightenmentNeo-VedantaVipassana movementBuddhist modernism Psychological[show]Humanistic psychologyTrue self and false selfSelf-realizationSelf-help Category v · t · e Religion is a set of variously organized beliefs about the relationship between natural and supernatural aspects of reality, and the role of humans in this relationship. While religion is difficult to define, one standard model of religion, used in religious studies courses, was proposed by Clifford Geertz, who simply called it a "cultural system" (Clifford Geertz, Religion as a Cultural System, 1973). A critique of Geertz's model by Talal Asad categorized religion as "an anthropological category." (Talal Asad, The Construction of Religion as an Anthropological Category, 1982). Many religions have narratives, symbols, and sacred histories that are intended to explain the meaning of life and/or to explain the origin of life or the Universe. From their beliefs about the cosmos and human nature, people derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle. According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world.[1] Many religions may have organized behaviors, clergy, a definition of what constitutes adherence or membership, holy places, and scriptures. The practice of a religion may also include rituals, sermons, commemoration or veneration of a deity,......

Mimpi Matahari Siti Khadijah

...Mimpi matahari Siti Khadijah Susunan SITI AINIZA KAMSARI SAIDATINA Siti Khadijah binti Khuwailid atau Khadijah al Kubra merupakan isteri pertama Nabi Muhammad SAW. Nama penuhnya Siti Khadijah binti Khuwailid bin Asad bin Abdul Uzza bin Qushai.

Asad

...already. Because how can one forget two African Union soldiers walking in through the small metal doorway each holding a rifle on the night of his fifteenth wedding anniversary? Asad sure can’t. The two men quickly walks into the one-roomed home for Asad, his wife, and their 12 year old daughter. They murmur for Asad to sit aside and not make a sound. He knows well enough that if he were to make a sound, both of those rifles will end his life. But more importantly, he knows that after he’s gone, his wife’s and daughter’s lives will be even worse than it’s about to be… Large bullets of tears streams down his wife’s agonizing face, along with the loud shrilling tone of his daughter’s cries will haunt him for the rest of his life. Asad knows how common it is for the Union soldiers to storm into civilian's places at night, however he can’t stand that it has to be the two loves of his life. He goes to what he thought is the less-corrupted judge in a nearby town to redeem for his family. What he comes back to is his wife and daughter both stripped naked, with several slashes on his daughter’s back as she laid in a puddle of her own blood and his wife slouched and tied up against a kitchen chair as blood dripped down to the ground from her sliced open throat. With those imprints clear in his head, Asad decides he has nothing to leave behind but his corrupt country. He does as thousands others have done, boards a ship to Malta, in search of asylum. Because what he has......

Siria

...Suge-o, Ramona ! de Andrei Ciobanu SEZONUL I CAPITOLUL I Acum câțiva ani, am pățit o chestie ciudată.

Persuasive Essay

...Party, demanding the resignation of President Bashar al-Asad and release of political prisoners. These demonstrations quickly developed into a country wide uprising when the Syrian government deployed troops of the Syrian Army who opened fire on many civilians. Several cities became engulfed with military members who were ordered to open fire on civilians and were executed if they refused to do so. During this time, many civilians and Syrian Army defectors began forming small militias and eventually unified under the name Free Syrian Army (FSA). “On September 23, the Free Officers Movement officially merged into the Free Syria Army, led by Colonel Riad al-Assad.” In October 2011 and February 2012, Russia and China vetoed the United Nations Security Council’s backed resolution condemning Syria. As the fighting continued and the killing of innocent civilians increased, “France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada and Australia expel senior Syrian diplomats in protest (Syria Profile, 2012).” As of today, the fighting between the Syrian Army and the FSA continues as the rest of the world watches and wonders, when it will come to an end. I believe that President al-Asad should step down and face criminal charges in an International court for the order to kill civilians. If he does not step down, he should be taken by force comprised of individuals selected by the United Nations. Many political leaders believe the President al-Asad will fall on his own, but what if he doesn’t?......
