Pire Paolo Pasolini was renowned Italian artist who plied the domains of poetry, intellectualism and film and literature with some of his works spanning the High renaissance epoch. Pasolini was notably distinguishable as a journalist, linguist and philosopher among a host other art domains that he pursued in the long yet drastically ended course of his art career. Pasolini was also a newspaper and magazine columnist as well as painter and renowned political figure. Eloit Audrene (2004) notes that Pasolini illustrated a unique and uncommon cultural dynamism in his course towards turning into a highly controversial figure evident through a closer assessment of his works of art. The social roles and similarities during the Italian and Northern European Renaissance are the flourishing of the arts under powerful and wealthy families such as the Medici’s of Florence and in the north Philip the Good as well as many others. In both Northern and Southern Europe there was a strong desire to reconnect with the ancient past of the Greco/Roman world this desire extended beyond just ideals in art but also to philosophy and politics. The two paintings that will be discussed are The Birth of Venus by Sandro Boticelli and The Feast of the Gods by Giovanni Bellini. The painting portrays the birth of the goddess Venus, emerging from the sea as a fully grown women and being afloat on a seashell. The painting also shows a couple symbolizing the wing blowing her towards the shore. Venus is also seen to be greeted by a woman who seems to represent the spring. They developed a style of painting called “linear perspective” which would allow them to reflect simulations of three-dimensional forms arranged in space.
